Last year was really memorable because thy had the killer clowns back, sleepy hollow, a nughtmare on bourbon street, read american eagle, the Hellevator, colored lights on the midways, the really awesome looking sky trek tower with king kong on top and a fire affect inside that was made of strobes, orange lights, fake dead people, and a TON of fog, and CAPTAIN NASTY. They also had a lot of freddy and jason stuff last year. I loved it.
I cant WAIT for fright fest to start. I also cant wait for columbus weekend because i'm going to fearfest at PKI. I dont expect that the midways will be nearly as cool as those at fright fest and I heard theres no creature crew in the park, but on the other hand theres 8 HAUNTED HOUSES and there all 15 minutes long. All give a trip report and a side by side comparison with fright fest when i get back from Ohio.
The fact that SFGAm will be open for 13 hours on Saturdays during Fright Fest (10am-11pm) shows that this event is very successful.
But my tastes point to Friday evenings because that is the best time to attend. Most of the time in the park (5-11) is in the dark and the park never gets crowded.
Can't pinpoint any highlights of FF because I just love the whole atmosphere of it all.
Heck, I wish SFGAm would create a Halloween themed area all year round.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
I love fright fest it's my favorite time of the year! I love the Zonbie Jam and LAFF. Not to mention the Buffy Vampires! They rock, coolest creatures ever. I rember one year this troll chased my mom and me to triple play! It was hilarious! And once, we were waiting in line for "terror Twister" and this Southwest Zombie Character walked up to my mom, when he saw her giving us Tootsie rolls. he said "Candy" over and over agin until my mom gave him sone chocolate, we laughed about that for years!
I went to frightfest when I was like eight. All I remember is that there was this one show we were going to see but we couldnt because my mom wouldnt let me. And I remember seeing all those tombstones and cob webs. I dont really remember.
If the shoe fits wear it; If it doesnt and you happen to be at sf get a footsie wootsie
I went to FF for the first time in 2002. We were walking through the park when I saw the pirates... That is when I said, I have to do this....so after that day ended I looked it up online and found JPM, started the very next weekend and worked in the Dead and Breakfast that whole season. Lost my voice on the first day. Scared so many people. I especially loved scaring the ones that said "oh, it's not scary"
Lucky for you guys, you only have to wait 17 days.
I have to wait around 25! I'll manage some how!
Last year also was my first FF. It was pretty cool. I saw
one of those killer clowns scare the pants off of one guy,
who didn't see it coming. I died laughing!

I've had lots of favorite FF experiences over the last 10 years, but I think reading this thread, and all the positive memories you all have posted is my new favorite.
Look for the guy who was captain nasty to be in the freak show this year...
Actually, I think its 11 days. The official park website shows the park open to the public on saturday the 9th. The JPM website about the characters lists the 8th as the first show, but my guess is that is some kind of corporate buyout.
I have finally planned out all the days i am going to fright fest!
First Trip: Columbus day
Second Trip: Week after on a friday if i cant get a ride for that time then i will go saturday or sunday.
Third Trip: Week after that on a friday if i cant get a ride for that time then i will go saturday or sunday.
Last Trip: Halloween (Closing Day)

Characters like to scare the ones who act really cocky and think they wont get scared, that and the ones who already look scared to death. If you just walk by all calm they usually don't mess with you.. but then again it depends on who you walk by. oh man - 3 days til Fright Fest starts for me.. over a week straight of training - joy! I hope you all enjoy this year! Im going to try and be at parade alot of the nights that and/or try to walk around at all.. If ya see me - say whats up, I'd like to meet some of ya!
