How Much Is To Much?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Timmy179 on July 25th, 2004, 11:16 pm
Coming from an enthusiast's standpoint, I understand peoples love for Sfgam, and other assorted theme parks. The thrill is unmatched, there nothing else so convienant.

Theme parks are a place where anyone can go and have fun. For some people, its a place to go and forget everything. Theres no harrasment (unless you come upon the wrong people), theres no pressure to suceed, and you dont have to worry about a damn thing. Thats what people love about Sfgam, and Cedar Point, WDW, and all other Amusement Parks, Thats what keeps people coming to the park, relaxment.

But for some, it seems as if that is taken away, The relaxation is turned in to obsession, and the pressure to fulfill a goal.

So I ask, at what point do you look at someone who goes to the park, say 50-60 times a year, and say "thats to much", or "hes a freak"?

Do you guys think thats its abnormal for someone to spend so much time doing one thing all summer?

Is it Healty??

P.s. 1000!

No, it's not healty. jk I think it is healthy because your at six flags having fun, not somewhere else where you can get in trouble doing things illegal and the such. If I had the chance to go 50-60 times a year, I would. Couldn't this have been posted in the "How many?" topic?

well i didnt mean it that way i meant that he really likes great america. and i think you made a good point on being relaxed when you are at theme parks especially when you are on a very exciting ride with lots of air time that makes me relaxed and makes me feel like a new person also when on a ride like top thrill dragster you are facing your fears dead in the eye and that feeling from that launch is amazing all the G's against your body it feels so great. I also think with how high people are building rides pretty soon Theme parks will be the center of a vacation for people and this buisness will BOOM and make lots of money. the only way this wont happen is if alot of accidents happen on rides were people get injured or even killed

I honestly think it'd take away from the thrill and excitement of going. 50-60 times just might be TOO many. I get excited going every once in a while. Now I know that I go WAY more times than any of my friends, but even so, I don't go too many that it's not fun anymore. I get this thrill from visiting amusment parks, a feeling that's hard to describe. Like butterflies in your stomach almost. But 50-60 times would take that feeling away and ruin the experience.

There's nothing wrong with going that much. If the person likes the park so much, why not go. They have the season pass which gives unlimited visits. If I lived in Gurnee (I'm saying they do.), I would be going a whole lot more. What's unhealthy about it? Eating pizza is more unhealthy.

Atleast theyre outside and getting some exercise. It's definately not unhealthy. But, like others said, I think going 60 times a year would just suck all the fun out of it.

Different people like different places. In my case I find if I go every 2 weeks or so it's just right and I enjoy the rides everytime. If I go serveral days in a close proximity (Did that a few times last year.) a few rides can start to get boring. I'm always up to go to other parks because I love trying new rides. But in the long run it depends on a persons personality.

Yeah but no one should like somewhere enough that they spend 1/6 of their life there. I think it's ridiculous if you're going to the park 60 times a season. I guarentee you if someone does go that much - they aren't just relaxing - they are seeing how many times they can get on a certain ride, or keeping track of everything else. To me that's obsessive and I'd feel like I wasn't spending time with my family or friends. 60 times - come on - that's 2 months worth of being there EVERY DAY.

Okay - then you are responding to this why? Doesn't that just totally ruin the point you are trying to make. Obviously you spend part of your day at the park, and another part on the computer 'responding to garbage like this'. I think it's just important to be a well rounded person and for me it would be suicide to totally dedicate myself going to parks. I totally agree it's your choice. I'd rather be outside getting my exercise with friends, or running 8 miles or something to that sort.

All this topic is a personal attack on Virtua Tennis.

Do you guys sleep everyday? I guess that's eight hours wasted. How about eating everyday? How about driving your car everyday? If not, you probably will. Stop picking on people, just because you think you can. On top of that, the park is not open all year.

Coasterzak, 1/6 is only rounded to 17%. That's not as much as you think considering that 305 days are open in the year for other things. He's not even going the whole day.

I never thought I'd see it on a roller coaster board but this is just sort of an example of how American Society is at times.

Nobody was pointing out Brad and if they were he could stand his ground against him, everybody is entitled to their own opinions and can use them how they choose, please don't try to take that right away from everybody right now.

Wow . . . this is all I can say. Ilovethevu - if that's what you want this topic to be, then it can be that for you, because obviously you like 'defending' Papas for some reason anytime someone brings up visiting parks too much. I put in my opinion and I guess I'm entitled to mine too, if you guys will allow it.

IllovetheVu, if you feel inclined to make this an attack on someone in particular, go ahead, see if I care, I know atleast 5 people that visit te park that much, and I'm not personally discriminating on paps, andd his case isnt that bad because he isnt there all day, hes on the computer from about 1 till 10 anyway.

Don't flatter yourself, we're not that concerned about you... And you're one to say anything about "responding to garbage like this". At the rate you reply, you'll have the most posts in a couple weeks. Geesh, why are people so paranoid these days that everyone assumes other people are singling them out and picking on them. Take it easy.

Are you talking about me? I hardly have time to even post on here. I used to be able to post a ton, but now with working and balancing time with friends and everything else it's a lot harder. Lately I've been lucky to get on here and read up.
