As stated in the New Ride(s) For 2015 thread, SFGAm will celebrate 40 seasons of thrills in 2015!
It will include:
40th Season Celebration Complete Refresh of Carousel Plaza and Hometown Square Coaster Celebrations In park festivities Restoration of three children's rides:
Tots Livery Surrey Carriages Red Baron Airplanes Lady Bugs
I kind of wish that more kids attractions would return... Oh well, Hometown restoration will be nice though. And I'm guessing based on the BB 2015 teaser video that the rides would be going there.
This could be like what Kings Island did for Banshee and Carrowinds did for Fury 325, and put up a "leak" website to throw us off. But I think it might be real.
Excellent. Just what we needed. Great job Great America! Build Goliath and X-Flight in three years time, then celebrate the following year for your 40th season. Sounds good to me.
1. Bizarro 2. Expedition GeForce 3. X2 4. Top Thrill Dragster 5. El Toro 6. Goliath (SFGAm) 7. Millennium Force 8. Silver Star 9. Apollo's Chariot 10. Goliath (SFOG)
Something tells me that at least 1 coaster will go backwards next year. Before anyone calls me crazy, In 2013 after announcing IgNight, They announced Batman, Viper, and Eagle Backwards.
My guess would be either X-Flight or Raging Bull. Probably Bull so they can move the trains around the chain like Batman.
I think the video should have hit more on how exactly they are "refreshing" HTS and CP. Upon reading all the material they released some more questions are raised. They mention the return of the 3 kids rides but then also mention later "Stay tuned throughout the year as we reveal which of your favorite pint-sized rides from our history will be brought back to the park, allowing the thrills to be passed along among generations." makes me wonder if there are other kids rides coming down the pipeline and that the 3 going back into hometown park is just a start? Maybe at somepoint they will announce for 2016 Bugs Bunny Land will make a return as part of a refresh on Yankee Harbor and Yukon Territory for the 40th anniversary?
This is awesome! I'm so glad to see the hometown park kids rides are coming back! Hopefully the Whizzer and the Carousel will get paint jobs as well as pavers installed in HTS and CP which would make the areas look 1000X better.
I also noticed the weirdness of them naming them three new rides, but also saying (on the "newsletter article" page) that they would tell us the names later. I wonder if they wrote that article earlier and weren't planning on giving the names, then changed their mind?
There's also no specific mention of any sort of museum exhibit, or what shows are coming back (I'd love to see a Stunt Show, although that seems like it could be a lot of work), but they do say "All season long, we’ll reminisce with our guests about the history of the park. You’ll also be able to enjoy many new projects, updates, and events around the park.", so maybe there's more they aren't telling us yet (or maybe they don't even fully know themselves yet.
As far as "refreshing" the areas, they say this: "In addition, our Carousel Plaza and Hometown Square areas of the park will get a makeover. We’ll refresh these two popular and most-traveled areas with brighter colors, new paint, beautiful landscaping, and additional areas to rest and relax, as well as make updates to your favorite rides in the areas." What kind of updates do the (not very many) rides in these areas really need (besides restoring the train)?
Hopefully we'll get a little more detail on some of this stuff from the event today. I'm sure they'll post it, but anybody going?
Finally, nope, they didn't fix the typo on "chiildren's" on the Facts page.
one thing that irked me is that in order to get the Free sport bottle when you buy the 2015 dining pass you have to go to the park this weekend. You can get the gold upgrade processing anytime before nov 2 but sport bottle you have to go labor day weekend only? And this is with no real advanced notice on that deal. Wish they would at least have it over a couple weekends or something.

I'm much happier we got this 40 seasons of thrills instead of one of those super loopers cause if I really wanted to ride one I'd just go to the fair and ride it... I'm also hopeful that for 2016 we will add a coaster cause the last we got coasters we got 3 over the course of 5 announcements (99 bull, 01 déjà vu and v2, and 03 superman)
"Everyone, listen to me! These jerks killed Superboy. They've tried to kill us. Now they say they're going to tear this city apart. I say... like hell."
- I wonder if this means they overhaul the Pictorium to make it useful again?
- The only area of Carousel Plaza with any room to do anything is probably the exit of Sky Trek Tower (which still has that stupid Go Kart photo opp thing). Maybe a good place to put an "additional area to rest and relax"?
- Ride updates - can you say "Sky Trek Tower: Drop Of Doom"? Yeah, probably not.
- Other things I hope come back: Full theming on the Demon, and using some of the old cheesy Marriott jingles somewhere (in the park or in the marketing).

They'll probably steam clean and paint Pictorium, and play the full installment of S&D all season. I'll bet that's what they mean by "All season long we'll reminisce with our guests about the history of the park."
Excellent additions so as long as it means banishing anything associated with ignight from the park forever.
Also, this is light years better than the carnival ri...er...roller coasters going into two of the bigger parks in the chain. Who was the Scholar behind that sparkling gem of an idea?

Once again, they just tried Screams And Dreams this year. It didn't even last a month. It is DONE.
