Two People wrote to Screamscape.com to say that the Ameri-Go-Round is being removed from the park. Unless they are just in the middle of a major rehab project, this could be to make room for one of the new rumored flat rides. This would be a good idea considering it is hardly ever open. Maybe they are refurbishing it though.
I heard the same thing. Plus, Columbia Carousel is more than enough for a carousel, it like two in one. Who needs 3 merry-go-rounds? I hope a really nice flat is put there.
Yes, Ameri-Go-Round will bid farewell in the upcoming 2004 season. Honestly though, nobody even rode it. Why ride Ameri-Go-Round when you have the world record setting carousel at the front of the park. SFGAm may be "getting rid of some of the park's history" but often it is for the best. SFGAm, of all the SF parks usually has the best intentions of keeping the park unique and historical, but sometimes things must go. The main reason why Sky Whirl went was because it was a mechanical nightmare and Intamin no longer makes parts for it. Repairs were hell on the checkbook, and afterall, people aren't coming to the park to ride it. Ameri-Go-Round is mainly there for show, and hopefully the new flat in it's place will get more crowd attraction. Personally I like the trend of new, state-of-the-art flats at parks. They really draw attention. Just look at Delirium at PKI, or any of the newer flats at PCWo. They draw outrageous croud attention from their flashy lights and huge movements and whatnot.
Who blow the story?!?!?!?!? Thooses two gots a few of us mad. I have been working on a very good article for it, but now i am deleting it since some people blew the story.
I think that two of these rides we're getting will be small kiddie rides and they will probably go where a-meri-go-round in replacement of Hometown Park.
We'll before one the topic I made on the ameri-go-round that was deleted I said it was gone and yes I saw it and yes i have pictures of it gone but my sis has my camera in ohio for a tennis tournament . So hopefully she did not delete it. There are I Beams in the worker parking lot.
BREAKING NEWS! A tarp is over the Main entrance! Holy Christ lets get a camera crew to six flags now!
People i understand that its the off season, but do we really need a 24 hour watch until the park opens? I mean we know what the park looks like, its closed, get over it. Its Winter, although an icy trip on Raging Bull right now would so totally kickass, but seriously folks... May is (as you see on the bottom of this screen) 17 weeks away.
The opinions expressed in this thread are my own, and are not necessarily those of Six Flags,SFGAMWorld.com,The Lemon Chill guy,The Guy who sweeps the mens restroom, or Doink the Clown.Thank you for your understanding.

AGR is crated up and in the parking lot. The park was offered $1.5 mil for it and turned it down. They think its worth more. Apparently one of the horses is worth $50,000.

If you payed attention to anything other than the fact that there are i beams in the lot, you would see that they are right next to the refurbished loggers run boats, so wouldnt it be a lot more logical that those i beams are for loggers run's station

Maybe you should look at the picture again. The only boats I see are the Roaring Rapids rafts.

You're funny! Really, really funny!
Sky Whirl (rest in peace) was no demolished for ANY of those reasons! The main cause for it's untimely deconstruction was quite simple. Chew on this for a minute; slow 15-minute ride, enclosed cabins where no one can see you really. Gee, now what in the world could have caused it to go down? Maybe the load of empty Trojan wrappers on the seats? Face it, Sky Whirl became the location of the 100 ft. High Club.

Oh, okay, so massive oil leaks have absolutely nothing at all to do with it's removal. All the reasons you listed contributed to it, as well as the reasons I listed. Don't agree? Just try me...
