Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Hi,
I applied to work at the park and got the call to come in and interview. My first interview went great and they told me to come back the following weekend for the loss prevention interview. I completed the interview and they shook my hand and told me to have a nice afternoon. I asked him if there was anything that I needed to do and he said no and I could leave. Has anybody else done this interview? I was told that they hire you on the spot and if they don't, you don't get the job.

I don't have any experience with this process but in my opinion, you should just wait anxiously for a call. You only do a loss prevention interview if you work in certain departments, which did you apply for?

Good Luck.

With anything involving Loss prevention, you should expect a delay. They would only hire on the spot for positions that don't require cash handling.

Yeah, something tells me they are running background checks, and maybe a credit report. Did you have to sign any paperwork regarding that? Something along the lines of a release waiver giving them consent to do those kind of things.
Push down, then pull up. Exit to your left/right. And, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags! Your friendly enthusiast Kyle.

It doesn't hurt to call and inquire where they are in the process, worst they can tell you is that you didn't get the position, but in that case at least you would know. As somebody stated earlier they are probably running the standard checks that they do, but in my opinion, I would call HR and ask.

A call to HR never hurt anyone, especially when it involves mass hiring. If you signed a release form for a background check those generally take 48 hours unless they are pulling more sensitive information.

I have called HR a few times to inquire about certain things, and a lady named Kevin always answers the phone. "Six Flags Human Resources this is Kevin."

Ok, so bringing this topic back in hopes that someone here can help me out:

I was told by a ride opp that Six Flags has seasonal entry-level mechanic positions. They said it's a great place to start while going to college if you plan on being an engineer that would one day want to do work on rides, or ride computers.

Does anybody know if this is true/have more info, and if so, when is the best time/what is the best way to start inquiring about such a position?

It seems with this place that timing is everything, so I want to make sure I don't miss my chance!
Also there seems to be a lot of non-public info these days, so a PM would be nice if any employees or past employees have any tips or suggestions.

I live 3.5hrs away, and will be at the park one more time this season if I would need to actually go to HR.

Thanks in advance!

The best time to inquire about maintenance positions would either be now or in the spring. I think that the entry level ones are seasonal only which leads me to say that spring is probably your best bet if you are really interested. A call to HR to clarify would probably provide you better information than asking here.

You would think so, but that place is always so busy that a call to HR, at one point or another, ends with leaving a message one someones answering machine. And a call back, well the first sentence explains why that isn't always common :-P
Just what I've noticed in the past.

What I would do is try to get in contact with Rideman, Dave Althoff. He can get you pointed in the right direction .

Messaged him last week, never got a response.
Any other suggestions?
I was thinking of calling the park, anyone know of an actual person I could have them transfer me to so that I could leave a message to an actual person in the mechanic dept?

I would recommend starting at an entry level position and then the following year, or if you are patient, 2 years after you've started and see if you can move up in positions. I'm curious though if people make a living at working at the park for years, and solely at the park, no other jobs. Don't people work there all year round, even in the winter? I would kill to work at the park all year doing behind the scenes stuff etc.

Mechanics work full time all year. Not sure who else does besides office people and probably some security.

They go through extensive rehab and/or rebuild. All trains get taken off tracks and to warehouse to be taken apart and greased up. X-Flight was built to not have the trains removed right? They stay in the buildings and get done there?

Im curious if Batman gets repaired in the loading station. It is rather huge and everytime I come back from riding Batman, you see all those extra parts scattered off to the sides. THey should really do something about that. in my opinion I dont like seeing spare parts there, kind of takes away from the theming if ya know what I mean.
