2005 commercials are already here

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby zjohn1988 on December 17th, 2004, 11:55 pm
Well I was just listening to the radio when all of a sudden I heard the "We Like To Party" song. At first I thought I was hearing things, but it was a SFGAm commercial. It was an advertisement for Hurricane Harbor next year and it also mentioned the season passes at the "lowest rate of the season". If you haven't heard it yet, it was on Kiss FM 103.5.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

It's called learning from last years mistake. Good move to start promoting early. Very good move. People are already planning vacations/short trips, so SfGam needs to gain attention.

It will also boost season pass sales before New Years.

Does anyone know if radio stations can even play the Vengaboys song anymore? I used to hear it every once and awhile on the radio but I havn't heard it at all since Six Flags started using it.

Radio stations pay a fee every year to ASCAP and BMI. These two companies are "liscensers" of sorts. If a radio station does not pay these fees (which run into the thousands of dollars) they cannot legally play recording artists music that is protected under copyright laws.

Six Flags is using the song in their commericals, but that does not mean that radio cannot play it. Stations choose not to play it becuase its not new and its no longer a hit, or relevant, and they can care less.

[Hums the chorus to 'We Like To Party'] Can't seem to get your mind off that song, huh? 8) (bald, wrinkles on face, dorky black suit)

The 2005 advertisements are here already. I've seen HH commercials at Gurnee Mills while Christmas shopping. Only you don't hear the song; it's a different but upbeat tune.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."

I was at a nightclub the other night, and without any good reason it went from the usual music (techno, rock and whatnot), to we like to party, then back to the usual music (no one did the dance, and no one seemed impressed by the song either) :)

I've always wondered why SFGAm did not advertise at Christmas time. You would think that if kids saw the commercials enough, they would ask their parents for a season pass.

That event got cancelled due to low popularity. I don't think SfGadv or any other Six Flags park will do that again.

It was a holiday light drive through that SfGadv held. You paid a fee and got to drive through the decorated park. It sounded cool, but I guess they didn't make any money, so it was cancelled.

The problem with that is most towns have that already. I know around here Aurora and Naperville both have streets where everyone puts up lots of christmas lights and they all have a bible passage in their front yard (it's lit up). People can drive their cars down the street or go for a little walk. They also have a peanuts christmas where they tell the 'Charlie Brown Christmas Story'.

The event at Six Flags was much like that only they had animals and other effects. I guess it didn't really draw people from very far. I know that I wouldnt want to drive 2 hours just to see a lot of christmas lights.

I have not heard or seen any new commercials yet  I feel so left out.. j/k. I would drive out to see GA decorated for Christmas. When I went by on Saturday I did not see the little tree on top of Eagle. I love that little tree. It looks so tiny compared to the massive beauty that it is sitting on.

I think that little tree fell off last year, during the regular season it was in the middle of the helix. It was kind of pointless anyways, your could barely see/know what it was. They do have the lightup tree on top of STT working however. It looked really nice at night when I drove by.

I've heard the now hiring commercial twice. It basically just lists all the seasonal jobs and that you get paid at least 7.00/hour.

EDIT: make that three times :D

EDIT #2: I also saw a HH commercial for the first time (at the mall).
