This is for you guys and girls who think that Superman Ultimate Flight is slow. Have you ridden the ride before?? You should definitely try it soon. When the ride first opened, I listening to WGN morning news and a reporter that went on it said it was quite slow. I'm sorry to say it, but today it is not the slow wimpy ride she thinks it is.
I know people have so many complaints about it not having more inversions, but look at the other things that the ride possesses. There's more to a coaster than inversions. Viper, Whizzer, Am E, RC, V2, and Spaceley's would all be gone if no one liked them, but yet they don't have any.

i dont care about inversions on a ride but the thought of facing face down to the ground is an awsome ride either way its just that S:UF is to dam short
I used to ride it on every visit, when it was slow and new and exptremely popular, and had hardly any trees around it, but on the one time I road it this season i noticed it was allready aging. The ride was rougher, faster, and it felt more insane than last. Also, it maked wierd noises in the station. i still dont bother to ride it though.
It's 52 m.p.h. It's faster than Spacelys, Cajun, Demon, Viper, Batman, and Whizzer. It's right in the middle of the pack speed wise.
The public doesn't always like inversions. It has a wider range of appeal if the ride does not go upside down.
Most people that I see come off of Superman have a smile on their face and do not feel cheated. I never feel cheated when I come off of a ride, no matter how long I wait.(Even the two hours that I waited for Loggers Run. Funny story)

It's not supposed to be fast, it's supposed to be flying. It's also my second favorite coaster in the park so theres no complaints from me.
Although yes I do think it has gotten quite rougher than when it opened, which stinks but what are you going to do it's a coaster, just sit in front and it's still glass smooth .
Yet another pointless topic started . . . yeah - relatively speaking, anymore S:UF is a slow coaster. It's slow and boring. I'd rather be on a Vekoma flyer anyday.
If you want to bash SUF as much as possible, that's okay with me. However, if you think it's another pointless thread, why post? Since you think it's pointless like others, make your own SFGAm topic.

Vekoma Flyers aren't that fast either. I wasn't all that impressed by X-Flight. Personally, I thought that it was a draw between the two.
My Top 5: 1)TTD, 2)Millennium Force, 3)Raptor, 4)Deja Vu, 5)Raging Bull
Isn't X-Flight 51 mph? Anyways, S:UF is an awesome coaster and doesn't need to be fast. I haven't ridden any of the Vekoma lay-down coasters(flying, whatever), but S:UF is popular and fun. It gives you the flying sensation, so it does it's job.
Yeah X-Flight is about the same speed, but it does so many more inversions. It just doesn't go back and forth 3 times. We actually get a vertical loop, 2 inline twists, a nice helix, and a couple 'lie to fly and fly to lies'.
Someone is dedicated to their post count! (Don't worry, we ALL when through that stage. ) Anyways, some people think its slow, some people think its fast. Dont go bashing people becuase they think its slow. People have a right to their opinion.
The actual speed of the rides is, in my opinion, all relative to the ride itself. For instance, B-TR, to me, feels as fast as any ride in the park. V2's launch is the only thing I can think of that feels faster than whipping through the course on B-TR. Personally, I don't think that the actual speed matters too much. It's all about matching good speed with a solid layout and intense elements. B-TR is a perfect matchup of these things, and that is why it feels like it moves much faster than it actually does. I don't think it's that S:UF is slow, I just think that the intensity of the ride is lessened by the fact that, after the pretzel, there really aren't any intense elements. Then again, as someone already said, the point of the ride is to give people the sensation of flying, and that it does. We have to remember that designers have to design rides that stay within certain limits. If S:UF had back-to-back pretzel loops, 5 more inversions or if it rocketed you through the course at 80 mph you might be feeling a few too many g's. I'm no expert on that, but I can say from experience that the g's that you feel through the pretzel leave me breathless enough that I need to just calmly fly through the course to catch my breath. For me, that ride is fast and intense enough just the way it is.
I'm gonna twist ya, and I'm gonna flip ya. Every time you squeal, I'm just gonna go faster and harder.
