It closed in 1999 I think for the expansion of southwest territory (I could be wrong). Well the sad thing is that my dad said I went on it with him when I was younger yet I do not remeber it. I do remeber it being black (again I think).
It's not how high or how fast you build the roller coaster it's how smooth you build it!
Rolling Thunder closed on September 4, 1995. A park former park Employee who used to work Rolling Thunder was nice enough to E-mail that to me for the Rolling Thunder stats on this site.
Back then I didn't go to the park as much as I do now since I didn't have my license so I didn't know the exact day it closed in 1995. I asked a few people and nobody knew the exact date, then not to long ago a former employee E-mailed me the exact date and let me know that some of the stats on this site were a little bit wrong about Rolling Thunder.
That's cool and also very thoughtful that other people out there that work at the park are actually watching this site and willing to help you out with little things that are a little bit off.
It's funny seeing Rolling Thunder in the background of Viper. I recall riding it once or twice in like 1990 or '91. It was a good ride, but I don't recall it being all that thrilling.
I remember rolling thunder. I never did like the trim brakes every so often, but I guess the ride needed them. That was back when I only went to the park once a year. Now I go somewhere in the teens. Ah nostalgia. And I agree that as great as rolling thunder was, Tidal Wave was much more thrilling!
I remember it a bit. I know even I had a tight fit in the car. The block brakes ruined the ride in my opinion. It is one of the worst rides they (thankfully) removed.
