The Old Demon Sign

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Has anyone seen that old picture of Demon's sign that someone posted on here at while back?? I thought it was the coolest thing ever, but like church goers didn't like it, so they put it farther in the ground so it just said DEMON..... What did you guys think of it?

Never saw it at the park in person, I'm too young for that. The pictures to look quite cool though.

Now look what it's become. You can still see the stone pool where blood would come out:

The grate was obviously false and removed when they buried most of the sign. If you compare a picture of the old sign with the new one, you can see that now, three stone layers are exposed, but the grate covered them so that only two full rows of stones were exposed.

Well its ashame that peoples seriousness about topic can cause something as a sign for a rollercoaster to be modefied. Well now the sign is boring but its still a great ride.

The wooden grate covering was removed, and earth was pushed up to cover the now blank stone face. End of story.

I don't think they should have done that. If people thought they would be damned just dont go on the ride. If you dont like the sign don't look at it. Simple as that. I mean are people really not going to come to the park just because of ONE ride.

Also, I thought church people that are really religious aren't even supposed to go to theme parks??? I may be wrong, but in my cousins religion, they aren't supposed to go to theme parks. So why should they have to ruin it for the rest of us????

ya, I've never heard of a church banning theme parks either, but I suppose it could happen. I don't think it was that they thought they would be damned if they rode the coaster or looked at the sign, but that they thought the park was promoting some form of demonic worship or something. I really don't know their reasons, but that's all I could come up with as to why they'd object to it.

I guess it also depends on what religious group it was, my youth group went ot the park and the leaders didnt find anything with Demon and I'm pretty sure they knew about the sign before. :)
