Which of these two flumes is better? I went to the park on June 13th and experienced both.
First off, Logger's Run was open all day and had a short line when we went to it around 1:30 pm. It went up it's first hill and into the flume. A giant splash occurred right when we left the lift hill and hit the water. It got me and my brother (the two front seat riders) extremely wet. Next, the ride made it's way through the trough. There was not enough water in the trough and the ride was hitting the bottom of the flume constantly and shaking the whole boat. The ride rattled it's way through this section. On every turn, the ride would forcibly change directions really fast and rock the log a bit. Once the log hit the ground level section, it finally stopped rattling in the deeper water. Then, we reached the lift hill and started climbing up it. The lift was rattly also and my brother was even scared he was going to fall out. Once on top, we got a nice view of the park and the rides as we reached the drop. The double drop was extremely fun and was very enjoyable. Once on ground level, we skidded to a stop and went back to the station after being moderately wet.
Next, we headed to the Yankee Clipper. This one had a way longer line but it was worth it. Once we got to the portion next to the rotunda, people were trying to throw pennies onto the roof and they were landing inside the line beneath. My brother and I collected a dollar and 5 cents worth of pennies there. Soon enough, we got into the boats and headed out. We went up the small lift hill and went into the flume. This time, the transition was smooth and only a small splash was produced. On this ride, the trough was actually filled and the ride didn't rattle as much as the other (even though there still was some). The turns were still a bit rough but not as bad as Logger's Run. Again, once we hit the ground level portion, more water greeted us making the boat slow down. Then we started the lift hill. Same story, my brother felt like he was going to fall out from the rattle of the hill. Once we reached the drop, we quickly went down. This drop felt steep and was lots of fun for all of us. Once we hit the bottom, a giant jet of water propelled the boat forward and hit was with water in the face. Next, we hit a sort of crash-down into the water (like the water jet blasted us upward a few inches) and got water all over us again. The speed from the dropped stayed with us until the turn back to the station.
I personally prefer Yankee Clipper because of the less bumpy ride, the excellent drop, the giant jet of water, and the slightly longer ride (it felt like it).
I'd say logger's run, because it is more family friendly. A log Flume is directed toward families and young kids. Yankee clipper's drop is too intense for a Flume with no scenery/theme. You said the drop on Yankee stayed until the station, right? Well Splash Mountain slows down fairly quickly, so it shows that Yankee is more a thrill ride rather a family one. Thus, ending my rant.
I like loggers run better because of the drop on loggers run. I like how the camera is between the drops on LR. Is the camera still there because I haven't ridden any water rides yet this year.
Which gets you less wet? I've never understood how people were able to deal with being wet for an hour. I'm not a fan of water rides. Though White Water Landing at Cedar Point was the perfect flume ride. It got you wet, but it was really more of a splash than getting soaked. Too many water rides get you soaked while very few get you just a little wet, though I guess that's the point
Probably loggers run. It's normally opened and clipper isn't. Also the double drop I think makes the drop feel longer and better. While on clipper it's one drop that I feel is over quickly
