Yee Olde Yankee Harbor

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby da rcman2001 on January 27th, 2004, 5:08 pm
I was lookin' at some pics on greatamericaparks.com in the yankee cliper rides section, and yankee harbor used to be awesome looking. It used to actually look like a fishing town with boats, a lighthouse (that you all know about0 a cool sign for the yanke clipper, a beach area 9not really but you could come closer to the water), my favorite bridge of course was right near it, and there were rocks on the water and stuff. I think that the section today is ruined and I was wondering if you guys or girls thought they should update the section in the near future to be better themed and more like it used to be.

DEFINATLY! I don't see anything good about it now.

I wish it would be more like the old days, maybe something like a simulated boardwalk. Going back to the old theming would definatly be a plus.

I used to live in Massachusets, so I know exactly what it should look like more than anyone. I think there should be a clam chowder "shopee" where the blue building next to v2 is. I also think there should be boats in the harbor, and a more visible view of the water (please expand section into picnic grove six flags), and put a smaller mayflower looking boat with a stunt show on it maybe. There should be the old sign on yankee clipper, and a fake plymoth rock on the harbor, surrounded by sand, and more rocks. Bring back a lighthouse, only on the other side of the water (necropolis entry near my favorite bridge. I think you get the idea.

Well the lighthouse was with us as recent as 2000, when it was torn down to make room for V2. Angelos used to have seafood fare, but it was changed to Italian a few years back.

With Batman in the vicinity, I doubt we will see a resurgence in Yankee Harbor theming anytime soon.

Maybe SFGAm could have a little Gotham City section to Yankee Harbor (like CCT and Looney Toons in Yukon Territiory, but on a smaller scale). It could have the entrance to Batman, the Batmobile, and maybe a drinks or games stand all themed to Batman (like Deja Vu Games). The rest of Yankee Harbor could become the true Yankee Harbor seaside theme. The area near Batman and the Whirligig kind of forms an awkward "T" shape, but if they moved the drinks stand across from the Whriligig and adjacent to the overflow queue for Batman a little bit, it's a possibility.

I doubt this would happen, but it would be nice 8)

that would be cool, and whats this "Ice Mountain Splash" they should at least rename it to "Yankee Clipper". That or they should retheme that area and combine "V2" and "Batman"

Ice Mountain is spending lots of advertising dough to sponser a water ride (along with being 'the official water of SFGAm), all SF parks have one with their water rides (IE Ozarka Splash, Arrowhead Splashdown, etc). Although I think they should have renamed Splashwater Falls, they gave Ice Mountain the one thats never open :).

Yep, Nestle Waters owns all of those brands and is a pretty big sponsor of Six Flags. So it's no surprise they've got their names on some rides.
