SOME New Uniforms at the Park

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Ilovthevu' on July 19th, 2011, 11:00 pm
The two new uniforms I have seen are the Flash Pass worker uniforms. They now wear mostly red, and I think there is a little blue in it (Kind of reminds me of Cedar Point attire.), and for Batman the Ride, they have the Batman logo on the shirt with it saying Batman the Ride underneath. They are black shirts. I would guess Superman is going to get uniforms too because if Batman got them, but Superman was broken all day. I don't know why. Does anyone know why Superman was broken?

I think the Neon is a good idea if your a kid who can't find their parents or if you need help with something but ride ops and Gift Shop and resturants workers could maybe have different outfits

Do the employees still wear those shirts that said "my family comes to this park too". Something like that.

^I have never seen an employee wear that so Im assuming they dont wear that shirt anymore or Im just blind and dont pay close attention to what the employee uniforms say.

The uniforms from this year do not have this message on the back because it was Mark Shapiro's idea and the new CEO didn't want it anymore, so they are now just yellow with no message. I wouldnt be surprised to see them get re-designed for next year since they probably didn't have time or money put away to do it this year. Also, I went ahead and asked someone about the Batman shirts and he said the fastest ride crew from the week before get to wear t-shirts.

I would still like to see the original costumes return in the designated areas without them it seems like there is something missing from the overall experience.

If the employees have been there long enough to have purchased one before they changed they can still wear them. The only ones their not allowed to wear are the blue ones. So you might see the "Help keep the park clean because MY family comes here too" once in a while. Some of the garbage cans still have this as well.

As for the red polos for Flash Pass, You'll know the difference between Six Flags Employees and Lo-Q employees....

Nowadays Team Members move from area to area everyday....This would create problems.

That's a bummer, and it seems like a waste of money just to show that the ride crew is the fastest for the week. I never got the cow either. A cheetah makes sense because a Cheetah is fast, but a cow? They do really off the wall type of stuff at times.

I couldnt agree more, go back to the uniform style they had when Marriot ran the park and not the awful neon unifroms they have had the last few years. They are good uniforms if you a beer evndor at a ball park, but look like crap if you are working at a theme park!!
If employee's move to other area's of the park than have extra uniforms so they can change there clothing!!

^If you are trying to be an amusement park yes. But if your trying to be a theme park, it's money well spent.

If I recall back in the 90's I remember different rides had different uniforms, batman in particular and I think crews in the SWT were wearing either cowboy or country style uniforms.

Well, the Batman area (Yankee Harbor) had the Gotham City Public Works types of uniforms. I was too young to go on Batman the Ride at that time, but I think they were dressed up as Alfreds at the ride. I don't know. Anyway, Space Shuttle America had really cool uniforms. The train had train engineer uniforms.

Back when the park opened it was Marriott running the park and then Time Warner, two companies where theme parks were a very small part of their overall business. Eventually both found out that running theme parks that are closed for over half of the year is a tough to make real money and both dropped out of the business. In order to go back to having the themed costumes they would need put some serious money in completely re-doing their wardrobe operations. On the other hand Universal and Disney with their year-round operations makes them a lot more likely to spend money on things like that. I doubt it has anything to do with employees working in multiple areas, they would need to add salaries (designer/material buyers, more wardrobe employees for issuing and laundering, and facilities to handle the increased volume).

The way it works now is that the park buys the costumes from whoever supplies them and sells them to the employees, which is a lot simpler and cheaper. It would certainly be nice if they changed it back to having themed costumes but lets be realistic, you can see how hard of a time they have keeping the rides open I doubt re-doing their entire wardrobe operations is something that is going to happen soon. Maybe they will do something like Tim Black did in 2004 and do a few rides (he brought back the train engineer outfits, though they were done away with again in 2007 when the slogans were added to the shirts). But unless they want to do it right and are willing to re-think everything and spend some serious money, it's better off to have a nice looking uniform that is park wide then have a bunch of horribly cheap looking uniforms like Terminator Salvation at SFMM had.
