Thieves break into lockers at Great America
Tribune staff report
August 29, 2008
Six guest lockers were forced open and the contents—valued collectively at almost $4,000—were stolen at the Six Flags Great America amusement park on Sunday, Gurnee police said.

The lockers, located near the front entrance of the park, were broken into sometime between 2:45 and 4 p.m., police said. Among the items stolen were purses, wallets, cash, credit cards, checks, glasses, cell phones, jewelry, keys and identification cards, police said.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

This is a perfect example of why you don't bring stuff like that into the park in the first place. Leave it locked up in your car, or don't bring it at all.

It was really stupid for anybody to bring such valuable things to Great America in the first place, but I think it's crazy that nobody noticed or at least nobody did anything to stop them.

I don't see how they got out of the park without anyone noticing them. How could nobody notice them? The lockers are in the front of the park, there is always plenty of people in that area.

I bring my backpack with me but I have a fannypack that has my wallet, phone and camera. The only thing in my backpack is bathing suite( in season), water bottle, towel and my coupon book. I make sure I have all my valuables with me.

I though there was a worker by the lockers. Don't you think that the worker would have saw it?

This is why I don't bring crap like that into the park. Seriously, you don't need your freaking purse with everything in it. I keep everything with me, and the only time I ever use a locker is when we're at the water park. And the only thing valuable we put in the locker is like a few bucks. This freaks me out, I'm going to be a little afraid the next time I use a locker. Things just seem to keep getting worse for Six Flags...

If I'm not mistaken there isn't a worker by these lockers, there are only workers by ride lockers. If I read the article correctly the lockers in question were at the front of the park.

I used the lockers for the first time Wednesday and was like "American Eagle has lockers?" What happened to the storage bins? I didn't get why you had to put a dollar in to get a quarter or whatever it is to put in again afterwards. It is so annoying. Just leave what you can in the car. The souvenir cups are the worst though. That's why the flats and the oldies aka Demon and Whizzer are awesome to ride with drinks and everything you can just leave it there.

Youre right. I would lock it and hide it really good in my car but I heard thieves are breaking in to cars parked in the parking lot too so check your cars before you enter the park.

Yeah, i've seen the aftermaths (broken glass) of one of them this summer. Just simple, if you don't want it stolen don't bring it unless you really have to.
