First Patch (or what ever it's called)

Talk about RCT 2, RCT, No Limits, Hyper Rails, Scream Machines or any other Rollercoaster related game here.

In roller coaster tycoon 3, to do certain cheats, you need "the first patch (please correct me if I'm wrong with what it's called). I'm wondering, what is the first patch. Also (if not already installed with the game) how do you get it?
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

you can download the patch online. actually, just pop in the RCT3 disc. as long as you have auto run enabled on the drive, a menu will pop up that asks you what you want to do (play, quit, etc.) choose update and watch it go grab everything that Atari has put out since launch. now there's a chance that won't work, but try it first as its easiest.

patches for software are simply new lines of code. they usually fix known problems with the software or add extra fuctionality. you can read what the latest RCT 3 patch does here and you can also follow the link on that page to manually download the patch if the method above doesn't work.

good luck.

No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

you shouldn't have to load up the game to get to the updates menu. while your computer is running Windows, just put the CD in the disc tray and wait a moment. you should get a pop up menu. choose the updates option. if not, then follow the link I provided above. that may fix your problems. if not, then try un installing the game and removing everything that isn't a saved game, track, etc. then re-install the game and see if it doesn't hang up on you again.

Just to chime in, the only way to get the 1.02 patch of Rollercoaster Tycoon is through the automated update process. If you download the patch on the website, then your only getting 1.01 which still had some bugs in it.

However, if you have Soaked expansion pack, don't download that update, you will need to download a Soaked update, if/when one is released.
