Yet another RCT3 thread

Talk about RCT 2, RCT, No Limits, Hyper Rails, Scream Machines or any other Rollercoaster related game here.
Postby w00dland on December 22nd, 2004, 9:06 pm
So a few friends all pitched in together and bought be a copy of RCT3 for me for christmas. (I love my friends. :D ) As I run the game I'm stunned on how slowly it runs on my (what I think it a pretty decent) computer. Are there any patches that are out yet that I can download? Any ideas on how I can possibily get it to run faster on my 1.8 Gig Pentium 4?

Sorry that I made another RCT3 thread but I figured it would be much faster and less tedious than going through the others we have in the forums. Thanks for all the help in advance.

I'm getting it for Christmas tommorow so I'll see how it runs on my AMD. Hopefully pretty well. There's a bunch of things wrong with RCT3 so don't get discouraged.

I ran it earlier and its not very fast. This seems like a bit more mature Sim Theme Park :? .

its not just the processor. its the ram and vid card as well. you need a good combination of all three and a good mobo too. a 1.8 GHz processor is starting to get old. my 1.3 is very old and I'm looking to upgrade immediately. to really run stuff well you probably need at least 2 GHz these days and it'll soon push into 3GHz and beyond. just make sure that your whole system is good and not just one or two componants.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Well I've also got a G-force 4 vid card and 128 RAM, I have no idea why it runs so poorly.

Did you lower the detail settings?

And this could also be a number of other things. There are many many factors that would contribute to the issues.

I've been able to run the game (demo) fine on my desktop (P4 Northwood, 1gig ram, 7k2 80 GB HD, Radeon 9500 pro) with max details. It runs perfect on my laptop (P4 Prescott, 1 gig ram, 7k2 60 GB, Radeon 9700 Mobility). Both have the latest ATI drivers and 128 megs of ram.

This could truely be any number of things.

so...are there any patches for the game anyway? I'm getting it for X-mas also, and I want to know about any bugs.

I have an ATI, which is "recommended" by the game to have one. The was lagging pretty bad, which is really discouraging considering I have no files on it right now. Hopefully it runs better next time.

When the game first asked me what detail settings I wanted I initially put the 2nd highest because I was under the impression that my computer was good with these things...

Ill try lowering them again tomorrow. But does anyone know if Atari has released a patch?

RCT3 doesn't work on my computer. It's the video card, and I'm going to get a new one soon.
How much longer can I last until Opening Day! ARRRRGH!

They have a couple out. Try rcttown, I think they have the links to them.

Under updates, I think you can download the patch that they have out.

I think that will work.

Just a FYI to ya'll. I got Rct3 for Christmas and I think it sucks. The only fun part is actually riding the coasters.

I am disappointed(even though I didn't come in with high expectations anyways.).

I'll probably be playing RCT2 much more than RCT3, which is sad.

I got it for Christmas as well, but I cannot install it because whenever it tries to install DirectX it freezes.

Ok I like this game, especially the feature that allows to play any music you want. But this game runs SO slow. I'm going to lower the graphic setting or whatever. I hope that helps.
What's funny about this game lagging so bad is the graphics are about 3 year old graphics and aren't even that great.

After playing it some more, I do actually like the game. The problem is that it is not as easy to play. I don't think I will be trying to actually make a park anytime soon though. I just like building and riding the coasters. I like the idea of more elements and track features. If the gameplay was similar to RCT2 then it would be a lot more fun in my opinion.
