10/05/08 SFGA Trip

Let us know how your day at the park was.

I want to start off by saying I'm new to the forums and this is my first post, so I may not follow all the rules but I'll try my best. I bought my first season pass yesterday online for my boyfriend and I and wanted to check out fright fest for the first time. The weather didn't seem to be on my side, but was hell-bent on going so watched the radar and when everything looked clear we took off on our 2 hour drive from Madison, WI around 3:30. We got there around 5:30 and had to pack a lot into the little time we had there. It took about a half hour for me to find out where season pass processing was and actually get it all done, after I read a post on here saying it was by the construction site for the new Buccaneer Battle. I finally broke down and asked an employee where to go, which is hard for me to do cause I always like to figure things out on my own.
I now had about 2 hours left so I was running around trying to pack in as much as possible. We started with Demon and sat in the front which seems a lot smoother than riding anywhere else. From there we did Giant Drop twice in a row as there was no line at all for Giant Drop nor was there any for Demon. The most logical place to go from there was Raging Bull and waited for the front seat there which took about 30 mins as they were only running 2 trains. After that we rode Whizzer which I haven't been on in probably over 15 years. From there I wanted to go on SUF but that was closed for the evening. I wanted to save my favorite for last, which is V2 and there was no line for that as well. We rode it once in the middle, once in the back and then ran over to Batman which also had no line and sat in front for that. It was about 7:45 at this point and figured we could do one more ride on V2 and sat up front which was a lot rougher and not as fun as the back in my opinion. I didn't want to the end the night with that and wanted to try the back one more time, and after we rode it for like the 4 time with no line, the ride op said there was one ride left and if no one was in our lane we could just stay on and ride again. We got lucky and no one was in line so we ended up riding V2 about 5 times all in about a half hours time.
In the end I had a great time and hope to go back and check out FF one more time before the end of the season when I'm not in such a rush and can actually take everything in. I am probably pretty old compared to most of the posters on here(I'm 27), but SFGA has always been my favorite place to be since my first trip about 20 years ago and I can never get enough. I'm glad I found this website and I check it all the time for information. Thanks for reading and I look forward to reading everyone's posts.

Yeah, the weather kept the crowds at bay. Hopefully, I can someday be so lucky and go on V2 so many times...wonder why Superman was having troubles...

Speaking of the weather, it is supposed to be in the 70's for this weekend...which means crowds.

Crowds will always be heavy in October. No way of getting around it with nice weather. It's called a flash pass or being patient.

Is anyone on here going on Monday the 13th? I have the day off from work but will most likely have to go by myself, as everyone I know has to work (if I get the guts to go on my own).
