Canadas Wonderland (From earlier this summer)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby BP317 on September 17th, 2008, 11:19 pm
Canadas Wonderland is one of them ole Paramount Parks turned Cedar Fair. The parks atmosphere and admissions is a lot like Kings Islands (and id assume is the same with Kings Dominion, the "big 3" Paramount Parks). Even though CW has a mountain and KI has the Eifel Tower, they both have huge admissions/entrance plazas.

Wonderland has a LOT of coasters, 15 to be exact, unfortunately most of them are just space eaters. I think the park had 2 really good coasters (Skyrider and Behemoth) and two solid coasters (Italian Job and Vortex) and the rest pretty much sucked or were extremely meh.

If theres one thing Wonderland is known for its probably their crazy flat rides: a Huss Jump2, Mondial Topscan, Mondial Revlution, and a Mondial Splashover (which is a really f*cked up topspin type ride).
Granted I did not go on any of these, mainly because I get sick on intense flats and could not afford to considering its a long drive from Toronto to Chicago, and the last thing I want to do is have to stop and puke at some nasty a** gas station in Detroit or have the border people think im wasted...so I opted not to go on those :P.

Image
Canadas Wonderland, the biggest "credit stop" in the world.

Image
The really nice looking entrance plaza, there is a powered mine train that goes through the mountain.

Image
The familiar Cedar Fair garbage can logo.

Image
CW has a Mack mouse coaster with a big drop similar to KD. I didnt take any pics of the ride, it was really trimmed and pretty lame. This looks way more fun.

Image
Shockwave is the parks Mondial Topscan.

Image
This park also has the 3 worst coaster models known to man: the Boomerang, SLC, and Volare.

Image
This Veko Boomerang has an Arrow train. No it did not make the ride any better.

Image
Weaksauce.

Image
This coaster has a layout very similar to Demon though isnt nearly as good.

Image
This might be the most WTF thing ive ever seen (other than Discovery Kingdoms V2). Somehow I dont have any pics of it.

Image
Such a Paramount feel.

Image
The mine train coaster is really short and does 2 cycles, but is really fun.

Image
Vortex is one of the better suspended coasters, I dont think its as good as BBW mainly because of BBWs theming but this one is more intense.

Image
As if this parks SLC didnt suck enough, they have a Jr SLC also which is almost as horrible.

Image
There appeared to be a conference going on at the control panel.

God give me a sign we will actually get on a GOOD coaster.

Image

Damnit.

Image
I dont know what this coasters called, pretty much all I know about it is that I didnt ride it.

Image
Cedar Fair maintained the tradition at CW of having extremely rough wooden coasters, including their junior wooden coaster.

Image
Best carousel ever, its all about Jabber Jaw.

Image
Lame.

Image
Certain areas of the park look really nice.

Image
Its time for the "Corner of Death!"
This corner of the park has an SLC and a Volare! I think making this area parking lot would actually make the park better.

Image
Looking at Behemoth from the SLCs line made it that much worse.

Image
Yes the ride was closed while this guy was down there looking for something, but it looked cool nonetheless.

Image
Its one of them Top Gun rides.

Speaking of that this rides theming was in despair. It looked like it was pretty sweet at one point but pretty much all of the theming was either turned off, not upkept and looked like crap, or just scratched over.

Image
This is one of the oldest SLCs, and it rode like it.

Image
I was really looking forward to the Zamperla flying coaster. After hearing so many negative reviews I thought maybe it would be one of those rides everyone hates I really like.
WRONG. This thing was horrible, by the time the ride was half-over I was scared for my life. Its wrong in so many ways it must not be legal in some states.

Image
Such a little ride. So many negative emotions.

Image
Words cannot describe how much this ride sucks.

Image
This certainly was a much more popular area of the park.

Image
The most noticeable thing about Behemoth is the DejaVu trains.

Image
The B seats were really fun. Im glad Diamondback is getting these trains.

Image
We rode Behemoth 3 or 4 times, it was well worth the line every time.

Image
I was amazed to see all the effects actually working on this ride.
Though the queue speakers did not play "Oh a just a little bit" so it looses points.

Image
Another flat ride I had no interest in riding.

Image
We will end this TR with what I think was the best coaster in the park. Skyrider the parks TOGO standup coaster was very smooth, had good forces, and a total AIRTIME MACHINE. Considering the bad rap Togo has this is one hell of an underrated coaster.

Image
I never got on King Cobra and havent been to KD to ride Shockwave, but now I really want to.

Image
More insane airtime.

Bye Canada.

i like the trains on that standup ride

but for somereason i just strongly dislike the behemoth trains i just think they look big and awkward and it makes the train to long..

It looks like those trains might have the stadium seating? But, yeah your trip reports are LOL funny and interesting. I like the fact you take time to do the pics and everything. Spot on man!
Push down, then pull up. Exit to your left/right. And, enjoy the rest of your day at Six Flags! Your friendly enthusiast Kyle.
