OK, so here is my trip report
I have a season pass and this is the second time I have had a chance to get out to Six Flags this season. I live an hour away and it is more of a 'there is nothing else to do today, might as well go to Six Flags' pass.
A few weeks ago I went and managed to wait three hours for TDK. Which has to be the biggest waste of time I had spent for any ride at the park in the past. The line was LONG, the intro movie was tacky, the coaster was super-short and too fast to see any of the thematic set pieces.
When I got out of there I made it on to Superman Returns and walked over to Viper before leaving.
So yesterday I was like "Coasters After Dark, SWEET!" I had talked with a few park employees before and they said that later on in the night the crowds die down to next to nothing and a lot of the rides you can just walk on.
I got an email a week or two ago offering this season-pass-only dinner at Six Flags, which I managed to purchase for $12+3 fee online. It was OK (nothing special) but hey, cheap food at Six Flags.
I made my way out to the park and arrived at about 4PM. Didn't even check the weather. I wasn't going to 'make a day out of it' I was just going to go out there, eat dinner and ride all the rides I could while I could.
Bad idea.
I got there and managed to jump on Raging Bull right away (which I intended on riding again later on in the evening) as I waited for the dinner to start. Went off to dinner. Got out of there and went on Iron Wolf. It is an absolutely horribly painful ride (not as bad as shockwave was on your head/neck, but it is pretty horrible on your body) but it was pretty much a walk-on at the time and I went right by it. Got out of there and decided to go on American Eagle.
As I was in the station house the rain started. And it poured. Of course, I wasn't really paying attention until I was at the front of the line and in the front of the blue car. It had JUST started. Going up the hill in American Eagle is always fun, but it is even better when getting pelted by rain. But going DOWN the hill and then back UP the next one in the rain... in the front seat... is somewhat painful. American Eagle has some of the best G-forces in the park, and they were actually racing the two, but I couldn't actually see anything as the rain was coming down so hard.
After getting out of American Eagle I went over to see if Demon was running. I got part of the way down the line before someone came out and said it was closed.
I called a friend who told me the rain wasn't going to end anytime soon and I decided it would be best if I just called it a day and came back some other time.
The construction on the edens coming back was horrible. I spent two hours sitting where I-94 merges back with 41, as only one lane was open going southbound. It is always fun in stop-and-go traffic while soaking wet, but I managed to dry off by the time I got back to my apartment.
Too bad there are no more CODs.
