Indiana Justin & The State of Corn Pt. 1

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Coaster Justin on July 15th, 2008, 12:02 am
My name is Justin, hence the title.
This is pt. 1 of my 2 Day trip Report in Indiana on July 12th and 13th.
The Trip was thankfully below my budget expectations.
Special shoutout to my Mom For Driving Stick the entire 400+ Miles when she had never really before.

* One last thing, Indiana and Minnesota do something that works is "THEY INCLUDE TAX IN THE SHOWN PRICES!!!!!!!!" Every single theme park in the world should do this!!!!

Day 1: Stormin Norman Day

I was planning on sleeping for many hours to stay strong throughout the driving to my first park “Fun Spot”, well we all have wishes. I started sleeping at 7pm and was awake at 11pm for unknown reasons. By the way, my trip was to start at 5:30am on July 12th, 2008. So I passed the time by watching Old Friends Episodes on DVD and Juno. Finally on 4:50am, my mom got up and after pizza for breakfast and last minute packing, we left a little late at 5:45am ready to drive in Rain, Thunder, and Lightning. After the Rocky Start, it was pretty much smooth sailing. Something that was odd that We found was a McDonalds right in the middle of a highway. On our first bathroom break, we found a place that had some pretty good chocolate-covered-peanuts. Because of the rain, the radio station was fading, so I played “Bill Engvall 15 Degrees Off Cool” and I sang “The Redneck 12 Days of Christmas”. Something else I found was a billboard for the RV/ Mobile Home Hall of Fame (One of those things found only in Indiana.) and when we got to Fun Spot, it was closed. It turns out because of rain, they closed the park for the day, so we went to the next park, Paige’s Crossing in Columbia City, Indiana.

Thank god Paige’s was open otherwise I would shake. I rode the Runaway Train (#161) which was pretty intense for a junior coaster, my first Wisdom Tornado, Me & My Mom played a round of Mini Golf, and I tried the wall and was beaten by 7 year olds. When we left the park, we had lunch at 1:39pm Central.

We then continued driving to the next park in Greenfield, Indiana but at this point after my mom drove over 400 miles, she was getting really tired and started swerving around the road because of exhaustion. I actually suggested that a policeman should drive us further. Anyway, we went the next park called “That Fun Place” but first we decided to fill up for gas for the low price of $3.98 a gallon and was shocked. We then went to the park which is similar to Go Bananas but the majority of the rides are outside. We went and I rode the sea serpent (#162) which goes around the track like 4 times (Became an Unofficial theme of the trip). When the weather was looking stormy, my mom and I went into a Big Lots store right next door. After a few minutes in the BL Store we continued driving to the hotel. The Hotel was the Springhill Suites by Marriott.

The reason why we stayed there was for a few reasons. First it was near the next park, Second it had a free breakfast, and thirdly because my Dad works at a Marriott (The Marriott Lincolnshire to be Exact) we stayed for $35.00 a night. When I booked the hotel, I noticed that there was a restaurant called “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” After a wait of about 20 minutes we sat down. The Restaurant is kind of a tropical “Rainforest Café meets Hard Rock Café.” Something they had was Surfside sodas that are odd fruit flavors mixed with sprite. Being a soda daredevil that I am, I had all 4 flavors; Pomegranate, Grapefruit, Peach which was my favorite and blueberry. Anyway, I also had a Bacon Cheeseburger and we had Chocolate Cake for dessert. My mom had a Quesadilla/ salad combo and the Chocolate Cake. Because the waiter was so good, we gave him an 8 Dollar Tip on a 32 Dollar Bill with Tax. When we got back to the hotel, I went swimming while my Mom went to relax upstairs. Finally after a while in the Whirlpool and Swimming, I watched MADtv, SNL hosted by Jonah Hill, and SNL Hosted by Snoop Dogg and then went to sleep. Oh yeah, one last thing that’s so great was there was a flood watch.

Coming Up: Day 2 where I can go Hawg Wild.
