June 8th

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby rcoaster on June 8th, 2008, 10:44 pm
As im writing this in the basement of my house, there is a tornado warning so I figured to type up my day from Great America!
I went with my girlfriend today, and we both knew it was supposed to storm all day. Well, we got there 30 min before the park opened, with mostly cloudy skies, and we head toward our first time riding Dark Knight. I like how they let you in the park now, instead of waiting near the carousel. In my opinion, I loved Dark Knight, and what I did was i tried not to compare it to Superman, Raging Bull, or whatever.... I had a fun time on it.
We went on Batman, V2, then Raging Bull. Dark clouds were coming in! NO! Haha. Well, we exited Bull, and headed toward Hometown. Met an unwanted friend on the way, but thats not important. As we headed there, the sky FELL and we were both soaked in about 2 minutes! We take shelter at the Aunt Martha's (?) near the Whizzer as thunder started rolling in. I thought the park would clsoe with the wind, rain, and storm.
As the rain began to peak, where it seemed like some waterfall broke or something, we headed from Aunt's to Pass Processing to get my girlfriend a pass. I've never been so afraid of the rain. After we got the pass. it began to clear up a bit, so we headed toward American Eagle to see if it would open. No, weather still bad. Everything pretty much closed. Except for this one ride, I was sure would be open.
We head toward Dark Knight again. Hour wait. Oh well, its better than doing nothing! We get on... preshow gets a bit old the second time. Get on the ride. WOO Fun, haha. As we go toward the door to exit, we have our fingers crossed that the rain would be cleared.
SUN! Yes the sky began to clear up, rides running! Great! We head toward AE. Guy doesn't know when it'll open, if it'll open, heck, I don't think he knew which ride he was at. Go to Iron Wolf, then return to the line. We ask why its not open... "It doesn't work right"... okay. umm. We wait 5 minutes because we see it testing (BLUE SIDE). We were the first ride of the day, front row.
We go on Demon twice, then we go eat at the Farmers Market and then Whizzer.
An hour later.... We know that Superman is closed for the day, but we decide to pass by it. Two Hosts are standing before the line, and tell me they are not sure when itll open, and they insist we go ride and come back later.
We do that. We came back, sat down, and talked with them and all. We wait 20 min, and still not open. We decide to go ride Viper. We ride Viper, and re-ride the back row! Then we go on Bull, and return to Superman. Hmmm. Still closed! We got on the Dark Knight with a 10 min wait. Get off, and still closed. We go on Dark Knight again. Keep in mind that you ahve to watch this preshow! I can recite the whole show! I pretty much was in the room. We get off Dark Knight and go by the hosts.
Yes. Right in time. The ride opens! We ride Superman twice. Then we go to Raging Bull, and ride it about 5 more times, the American Eagle RED, because blue was down now. As well as Giant Drop.
Ahh... great day. I actually liked the weather. Cleared up the park.
--Has anyone found the Six Flags TV a bit annoying with the same things playing over and over? TWO FLAGS. SIX FLAGS! Haha.
---Deja Vu was closed all day.... Some guy told me it's been closed all season. What a shame. I thought i saw its ghost testing.

Batman- 1
V2- 1

I agree, yesterday was a GREAT day at the park.

I live on the west side of Gurnee, and the weather was iffy in the morning. Wasn't planning on going, but our power got knocked out. Nothing else to do, so GA sounded good. The weather was clearing, so we decided to go to the park.

It was low 70's and cloudy when we got to the park around 1:30. By 3pm, it was 80's and sunny. The crowds were dead all day. We rode TDK 3 times, no wait.

We stayed until 7:30, and everything was a walk-on. Very enjoyable!
