5/31 - First trip of the season

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby FRD714 on May 31st, 2008, 7:41 pm
Before I start, let me say that I haven't read many posts around here about the park this season, so I did run into a few things today that were new to me.

Got to the park at 9:40. Walked to the left and waited for rope drop at the bridge. Everyone seemed to be in line for SUF and TDK. After rope drop I walked over to V2 for a ride in front row. Same great ride, I just wasn't into it today though. One ride was enough. Batman was closed, so I kept walking and then realized all the rides in the back of the park don't open until 11, so I walked over to GD. It was my first ride since 2006. Don't know why I didn't ride it last year. Bull's line looked unusually empty, so I got in line. It was only a 15 minute wait. Rode somewhere near the back. After was Viper of course. I still love this ride in back row. It's just insane. It was after 11 so I went over to Demon. Short wait of course. I felt like driving some go-karts, so I headed over to the Speedway. Only did it once before back in 99. Surprisingly, I thought it was fun and well worth the $7. I went back again later in the day. I was getting hungry so I walked back to the Farmer's Market for a slice of Papa John's pizza. Not sure why I walked all the way back there since there's like 7 of them before that.

Now it was time to try out TDK. I waited about 1.5 hours until I got in the pre show. I must say, the preshow bored the crap out of me until the Joker took over the video. That was kinda cool I guess. Another 5 minutes and I was boarding my train. I really don't know what to say about this ride. I guess it's pretty good, just not worth the wait. The effects were OK.

Went to the back of the park again and hit Iron Wolf. This ride is still Terrible. Then went to AE. Red side of course. Finally I went to SUF. Definitely NOT worth the 45 minute wait. I got my ride in for the season so I'm good now.

I hit Yankee Clipper, King Chaos and Ru Le Dodge sometime throughout the day too. Overall it was a good trip and the crowds weren't bad at all.

Yeah I think I'm gonna head back next weekend while the crowds are still low.

Some things I didn't mention. $25 for general parking was a shocker. I thought it was still $15. Screw the value parking. I don't mind walking that far in the morning, but by the end of the day I just want to get out of there quickly.

Hurricane harbor was DEAD. It was a decent day too, so I don't know why no one went.

The new three point game seemed to be a hit, but a bit expensive in my opinion. $5 would have been fine.

Lots of characters out today. More than I've ever seen in the 8 years I've been going there.

Boarding passes at SUF? Please don't tell me they're doing this on every ride.

Batman closed again?? Sh** . I will be going back Tuesday and it is one of my faves. I heard something about oil leaks or somewhere along the lines of that.

Iron Wolf was working again at least, good to hear or in your case bad to hear haha.

I agree, TDK sucks and the 3 point challenge is way overpriced unless they make jerseys worth only 2 baskets :D

Batman opened up later in the day, and AE was running both sides.

you had a pretty good day, sounded fun. But I love TDK. I waited 3 hours for it though.

Hello Everyone,

I read a post about everyone being too negetive, so I am going to be more positive about SFGA.

However, can anyone with some connections please tell the powers at Hurricane Harbor to turn on Skull Island already. It's been off the last two weekends including yesterday. I am hoping it will be on today.
All I ever do is go there, lay in the sun and listen to music and occasionally go into the water spray to cool off. I haven't been able to do that yet since the opening. Plus, the music is the same ten songs with each one being interuppted three or more times with announcements that sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown.

Other than that, the park is clean, the employee's are friendly and helpful, the lines at the gate are very efficient and well managed and I love the whole place.

That's an awesome line...

Sucks about Skull Island. I was planning to go with the family there today, and Skull Island is what the kids love to do.
