Park Impressions from 5/21

Let us know how your day at the park was.

Hey guys, first time poster but just wanted to share some impressions from the opening of the Dark Knight and overall impressions for this new season and see what you guys think.

First of all, i went with a couple of friends all on their first trip this year. Lets just say the new locker policy outside of the hit rides owned us. Regardless of its alleged benefit, the impression it put on the girls was that its like charging another dollar to ride the ride. Not to mention it is just a pain and some of the lockers pop open. Aside from you experts here who know every reason why and how the park functions. The typical person will hate this locker policy. The bins are just fine.

The Dark Knight was closed i believe through the first part of the morning, but we eventually got in line and oh my lord what a line it was. The queue that wraps in and out endlessly inside is not that fun. The theming is no better then any other ride, just some signs and such. The TV's weren't playing anything. The ride broke down intermittently. So close to 2 hours later, we get on this ride and while the dark makes for a nice effect...Rajun Cajun was honestly more fun. The effects for the Dark Knight were cheesy in my opinion and the camera flash was the most exciting part and to think i thought that it was an effect to try and blind our vision...

Overall i wouldn't recommend waiting more then 20-30 minutes for it at most. I know we all realize it isn't supposed to be a thriller but I am quite excited by alot of things but I am pretty sure money could have been better spent on something a little more fun.

Everything else was great, lines were long for a Wednesday but it moved good. Bull, V2, Viper, and Demon all rode well.

I love Demon, for some reason it didn't hurt my neck or anything yesterday...it ran smooth in my opinion. The only thing that gets me is that chain lift that seems like its ready to break. Anybody want to calm my fears that it is indeed a very safe lift ? haha

^ I agree with you completely.

Afterall, this ride cost $10,000,000. And a new family wooden coaster would have cost less then just another wild mouse. In my opinion 3 wooden coasters > 2 mouse coasters. And a wooden coaster is appealing to all ages.

10 MILLION??? Did i read that right??

Wow!! What an absolute waste of money. A valid point is made that this park while excellent just cant contain the sheer amount of traffic that it gets. Bull and other rides move people good, but another large coaster would really deviate some of the crowds away from certain rides and shorten lines.

While Dark Knight will possibly do that now, all it takes is me to go into that line and tell the unsuspecting people that the ride is not a thrill and a majority will leave. Most probably do not even know that its a mouse, my friends thought it was a big indoor coaster

Have not been on TDK yet, but from the looks, it doesnt look that special. What I dont get is why Shapiro is so obsessed with family coasters. Tony Hawk, TDK, Mr Six. COME ON. I would WAY rather have a delerium or skyhawk type ride for the price of a family coaster. I dont see any biggins any time soon...

FYI Dark Knight Coaster cost 7.5 million. A lot of people I bet would have rather had the park keep Aftershock, I mean Deja Vu, and not bring in another kiddie coaster.

^^True, but bringing in a coaster like TDK, and tearing down Vu will very much help the economy of Six Flags, and could possibly help us with the development of big coasters in the future.

Deja Vu was a high maintenence woman! I mean Coaster! haha

Rather than looking at it as another dark ride, look at it as our parks FIRST indoor coaster, FIRST ride with an attempt at theming, FIRST ride with a preshow setup, and it's going to bring A LOT of people to the park this year in hopes that it won't be as dissappointing as you found it as. It's not one for the thrillseekers, but it's qualities, and with that budget, i think they did a great job. I'll admit though, the wait for it compared to what it gives will definitely disappoint many this summer.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter :(

FYI: It is not the First Ride to have theming and it is not the first ride to have a preshow. SSA was the first.
