SF St Louis

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Aero737 on August 14th, 2003, 11:21 pm
Well, its 11:16 and I have been driving since 7 am. We were in Oklahoma City for a few days to visit some colleges (OU) and today was the day we were comming back. On the way to Tulsa, I saw Six Flags St. Louis. I wanted to go then, but we needed to keep on going to stay on time.On the way back, I convinced my mom to let me go for an hour. Today we got there around 2pm, and I got into the park quickly. Ticket taker took a double take at my pass, thinking it was a wrong card.I got in and looked at a park map. The three coasters I wanted to hit most were in a big loop around the park. I went to Mr. Freeze first. It is a sitdown LIM launched coaster, with 2 inversions (well it goes through thoes 2 inversions twice). The line was 20 min. long and the station was in a nice airconditioned building (Nice because it was in the upper 80's). This ride is great. Better than DeJaVu. It's a two train operation so you load as the other train is moved onto the launch track and goes through the course. Getting in the station I was feeling antisipation and I was a little nervouse. I got on, and we moved onto the transfer track. We rolled forwards onto the launch track and we went. Zero to 70 in like 3 something seconds. The LIMs don't scream like V2's do. The ride launches you into an inverted top hat (similar to TTD's only inverted) and into a 180 degree overbanked turn, and up a tower. The tower was interisting because LIMs continue to launch you up the tower. After being launched straight up the tower you fall back down and go through the ride backwards. The tophat backwards is very interisting. I rode in the 3rd of 5 cars. The ride was nice because there was no OTSRs.After that I watched Collousis (spelling?), which is there 150 + foot ferris wheel. I moved and watched Excalibur their new flat ride. I then got in line for the boss and waited 30 min for that. The Boss is their 150 foot woodie. It is nothing compaired to AE or Viper. The first drop is cool, but the ride is so rough it isnt funny. This ride makes Viper/AE feel like a B&M. The ride has only a few good pops of airtime :( but when you get the airtime it is good (you can hear the upstop wheels hitting the track). It ends in a hispeed double (I think) helix which is fun. I rode in the back and it was too rough to be enjoyable. Thank Six Flags that we have such a good wood coaster as Viper. Finally I went to Batman. The theming was just like our batman. We started in Gothem City Park (Same sounds  ) We go under an awning and there was a smashed police car. We headed up some stairs just like our batman. Got in the station just like our batman. This ride was a walkon. Some of the middle/back rows had noone on them. The front row was only a 3 train wait. I got on and went up the lift hill. The first drop seemed faster and the G's in the loops seemed stronger (Normally I can hold my hands up, but I couldn't today). The jumble of helixes and corkscrews had no trees so you could clearly see whats next. :(. The ride was a mirror image of our batman, but can't add up. Our batman beats their bat man hands down. The water and terrain of our batman beats the gravel and concreat of theirs. Loading was VERY fast (no stacking), and we were waiting for about 1 min while the rideops waited with their thumbs up waiting for the other train to compleat the course.Unfourtunally if I wanted to get home before midnight, I needed to get going. I got 3 coaster rides in about 1 hour and 15 min. Our Six Flags is much bigger, but their's has better theming. They have themed areas suck as Backlot Place and Illinois Place. Nobody that I talked to could even imagin a flying coaster, so we're lucky. All in all it was a great hour which I added 3 coasters to my list. Driving sucked though. It takes about 5 hours to get to Six Flags St. Louis from I88. I will hopefully have pictures scanned saturday if all goes well tommrow...(Sorry if any of this is confusing, i'm tired) Dang, i get my wisdom teeth surgically removed tommrow at 6:45... :( :( :(
