KEY LIME COVE GRAND OPENING!!!!!!!!!

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby demon boy on March 1st, 2008, 9:11 pm
Alright, i just gotta say this place is absolutely amazing! They did a very good job of keeping most of it under wraps because there was soooooooo much more than just a water park!

When you first walk in, you see this....
Image

So, already we know that the scenery/ambiance is top of the line.

Immediately to your right is this (awesome) restaurant
Image
The food there is so amazing, it was priced just right and you got a TON of food.

Check in counter
Image

Random plane thing by the entrance........
Image

Alright, this is where it starts to get crazy. Im not kidding, this place is basically Disney like in terms of scenery, service, entertainment, whatever. Its literally a resort in a small area not just a hotel. JUST LOOK AT THIS MIDWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Image

Random pics from the midway......

Image

This is where we got most of our sugar highs.........
Image

This is the wing we were in. The other is "Key West". This one is the one closest to the front, the other one is closer to the freeway.
Image

Right there were the elevators and this thingy with the future plans on it. Looks like it'll be pretty cool. THe water park one i didnt get a pic of but there will be a water coaster, 3 lane racers and a flo-rider
Image

Once inside the elevator to get to Ground Level, there was this nice sign to tell you where everything is. (Now you can get the gist of how much there really is)
Image

This is the room that we stayed in. Its very messy because it was taken this morning not last night (its very interesting being the only guy in a hotel room with your girlfriend, mom, and two other friends :? )
Image

Right after the wing of rooms is this place for kids to do arts and crafts.....
Image

When you get out of the room wing, you see this, the awesome midway of pretty much endless video games. (THis is without a doubt the BEST arcade ive ever been in)
Image

A closer shot at some of the games.....
Image

Immediately after the arcade is this amazing restaurant/ice cream parlor called..........
Image

Image

Vanessa thinks its time for the water park, so did everyone else. Exploring the place was fun, but lets get to the action!
Image

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!
Image

Alrighty, i dont have too many pics of the water parks cause i had a digital camera but here are some that i think should be fine
Image

Image

Image

Alright, those are the only pics i have of the park so let me explain it. First of all, it was way past what i thought it would be. There were two tube slides, two speed slides, a vortex bowl, wave pool, "wavey" river, play fortress w/ two slides and a lot of other stuff and a HUGE dump bucket, and a hot tub to top it all off.

The slides were the perfect length and speed. Not slow, but not super fast either. The bod slides were exceptionally smooth. They were also by a company i dont know of, it was by "Whiter Water Slides" and they were very nice. The tube slides had ralings for a push on the start.

THe vortex was one of the best pro-bowls i have ever been on. Even though it was tube, it was still awesome. The drop was very fast and you got a good 3-4 circuits. And it dumped into the lazy river which was neat for a change.

The play fortress was also very nice. NO matter where you walked, you get dumped, sprayed or someting. THe dump bucket is also in a spot where everyone in it will get wet when it tips. The slides on them were just the right speed for little kids and i liked them too

The other parts were just like any other. THe waves were the right height, hot tub was the right temp, and the basket ball water court had a lot of balls and baskets. The only thing i can say bad about this park was that the food shack inside was pricey, but hell., all water park shacks are

After the water park, we decided we needed sugar. And this was the game to do it,
Image

ANTICIPATION.......
Image

(THis next pic has a lot of candy in it but fyi we put around $5 into getting this, its a good game non the less)
Image
And that wasnt even all of it, it was about half.

Tag, your it......???????? :?
Image

This is the prize counter that they have here at Key Lime Cove. The games were easy to win tickets so the prizes are a big pricey, but not as bad as Rink Side
Image

"Well Becky (the girlfriend) what do you think about the prize counter?"
Image
Becky- "Meh, its alright"

THis place is absolutely fantastic. And since its so close to home makes it even better. For $350 a night this place gives you more than your moneys worth.

Wow. I'm impressed. I would have to say that it looks a lot like a Disney resort. It reminds me a lot of the Caribbean Beach Resort.

Well, personally I think Six flags will be ok. As long as Keylime stays on their admission to hotel guest only policy for their the water park, most of the people will end up going to six flags because most people aren't willing to dish out that much money just to stay in the hotel to access the water park.

If they open up an outdoor park like a previous poster said, then i think it will affect six flags. Overall i think Keylime was a good idea though because it provides something for people to do during the offseason...

^ I really doubt that this place is going to effect Great America.. The only thing that it's going to do is possibly up sell on 2 day passes, season passes. Even if they opened the waterpark to the public, I don't think it would mean a thing... KeyLime only has like 5 slides? (excuse me if I'm wrong) But HH offers a heck of a lot more plus it's bigger! Just as long HH doesnt become a separate admission, G.A. will be fine. I see KeyLime as a park attendence booster, not a stealer.

BTW: to the people that have already gone to KeyLime....

Was there any advertisement for SFGAm?! I would not be surprised if there will be in the near future...

According to their website, everything there is open to the public except for the waterpark. You can still dine, shop, play games, etc.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

demon boy did you happen to notice if they had any Pinball machines in the arcade? I was also wondering if had a lot of "normal" video games. While it does look very large, I hope there is an even amount of both redemption games, and normal video games (ones that you just play, and are non-redemption).

Really hoping for some pinball machines, as I like them a lot. Right now to get my pinball fix, I have to go to Indiana Beach. Which, is not a bad thing as that is a great park. But, it would be nice to have some closer to home.

^Well, i didnt see any pinball machines but the balance of games was very nice. There were also many classic games there like ski-ball and bozo buckets.

And, some of you need to not be so hard on this place. The waterpark/overall hotel is yes, quite small. But remember, its been three days out of a fifteen year plan. Its gonna get bigger

Just head to your nearest Chuck E Cheese. Everyone that I have been to had 1 pinball machine. Last time I was in the CEC in Gurnee near Keylime Cove, they had the RCT pinball machine.

Also, Bill's Pub north near CLC and Bill's Pub in Mundelein both have pinball machines.

Yeah, admittedly, I don't think the water park lives up to a Dells style hotel (which is what I would compare it to, not a Disney Resort). However, the rest of the hotel, especially the mall style shopping area, look wonderful! Overall, it can only help bring more tourists to the area for our park! Hooray for Key Lime and it's UGLY exterior paint!

I knew that Chuck E Cheese had an RCT pinball. Played it the one time that I went there.

More info on it is here

http://www.perfectamusements.com/Pinbal ... llerct.htm

I also knew that Bill Pub (both of them) have pinball as well. Its just that I don't go there a lot to eat, and I feel its wrong to go in there, play games, and then leave without eating / drinking anything.

They use to have one at the Chuck E Cheese here up in Rockford. They also have one at this arcade in Downtown Rockford called Nickel World. I should buy one!
