Trip Report 07/02

Let us know how your day at the park was.

I went to the park from 6-10 last night. I just moved up to Chicagoland area, so this was my first time at the park for a LONG time (probably 10 years). I'm originally from Ohio, so I'm used to the best (i.e. everything at cedar point). Anyway, here's how it went:

I started off with Raging Bull. Very good B&M hyper-coaster, but I wish there was a little more speed going over some of the camelbacks. Nonetheless the first drop is insane in the back. Then I headed to Deja Vu. After waiting 20 minutes I got to the front of the line only to find out that I'm too tall to ride. I'm 6'6". I obviously wasn't a fan of this. So I headed around the back of the park to Iron Wolf. I've read that this ride is rough, so I expected it. All in all, I didn't think it was too bad, and I loved the short line. I thought it was pretty fun. I rode with two younger kids who asked where I was from and such, and then at the end of the ride they asked me what I was riding next (this is good.) I told them I was probably going to Batman and they said "That's Boring!" All this of course happening AS we're standing on Iron Wolf... weird. Then I went to Batman and waited about 35 minutes to ride. This is definitely my 2nd favorite ride of the day. Great B&M inverted. After batman I went and made the mistake of waiting for Superman. The queue really fooled me. I expected a few turnstiles and then a 15 minute path to the station. That queue path goes FOREVER! I waited about 1 hr, 20 minutes to ride the man of steel. The pretzel loop might have been the craziest inversion I've ever been on, but all in all I was kind of disappointed. The ride seems to be lacking length. By the time I got off it was about 9:00. So I went to my favorite ride of the day: Raging Bull in the dark ;) I again rode in the back and it was a lot better at night. After that I ran back to American Eagle and got on the last train of the night. For four hours of riding, I had a pretty good time. From a "newbie's" point of view, I think the park has a lot of good things going for it, but I think it could definitely use a few things. I think the park needs one REALLY high ride to complement Raging Bull. And I think Six Flags needs to hop off the B&M train... B&M are fantastic designers, don't get me wrong. But Intamin is the new face of fun.

Just moved to Chicago from Ohio, and I'm ready for SFGA!

in my opinion making sure your riders live is more important than buying from "the new face of fun" :) ...

And to top off what SFGAm07 said: you are from Ohio so you are used to the best? So Cedar Point is the best?

Is that the best in your little world? Think what you want but get off the bullcrap awards and stereotyping because it doesn't fly around here. CP is the not the end all be all of parks regardless of what some people might think.

It is only an opinion. I have been to CP and I can think of other parks that are better.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Sounds like you had a nice time. BUT, I dont agree with you when you say that Intamin is the new Face of Fun. And when you say that Cedar Point is the best. Again, with Chitown, I can think of atleast 5 parks that are better than Cedar Point. B&M is a much safer company, with smoother rides, that arent just one trick pony's like most of Intamin's newer rides. Plus B&M's seating and restraints are much more forgiving to the Larger of park guests. But yeah, glad you had fun.

Granted I like CP, but its not the best park out there, when I only enjoy 3-4 of their coasters.

Glad you enjoyed your first time at SFGAm.
