6/27/07 - Finally some Vu action!

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on June 28th, 2007, 12:54 am
Due to lots of traffic, we got to the park at about, 9:40. Once the park opened we ran off to Vu, not knowing if it'd be open or not. A few people got there before us, but we still ended up going in front row first dispatch. Ride was awesome, and then - miscatch. First tower at the end of the ride, heh. My first time experiencing one of those. Swung back and forth, and I forgot that it would suddenly brake going up the cobra roll. When it did, we both hit our heads on the headrests kinda hard, it hurt. We were there about 5 minutes and we eventually came back down. Nice. We got back over to the entrance to wait for it to open back up. Once it did, we got the second dispatch of the day in back row! Exciting start to the day.

Then we went to Viper, gee, I thought we should have ridden Vu a third time, but noo someone didn't want to. Viper's line was longer than Vu's. Eh, we waited. Went in row 3, great ride as always. Then we rode Bull which was in 2 train op. Bull doesn't really do it for me a whole lot anymore, I think the most fun part for me is the lift and being at the very top.

Next was Eagle. Only Blue was running. We got in the back row right away. Good ride, but I like red better, and I like both rides in the front the most. Next was Revy, and then Iron Wolf in the front row. Wolf seems a lot rougher this year than it was last year. We took a ride on Batman before heading out to lunch. But waiting for Batman took forever, it was the longest line we saw all day, besides the wait for Vu's line... and while in the steaming tunnel it broke down for a bit. I like the new harnesses and seatbelt buckles. It was in 2 train op by the way.

We were gonna go on King Chaos but it was not open. So we headed out to Pizza Hut, left the park around 1. About 2 we came back and storm clouds looked like they were rolling in. Yay! While approaching the park entrance, it suddenly got VERY windy. I think someone said they saw a tornado or something like that, but they were just crazy. There was no such thing. After 20 or so seconds the wind stopped. As we got in the line for Viper, we started to feel the rain drops.

The line was just outside the station. And it began to pour and we couldn't get inside the building because it was packed (the station wasn't, because of the grouper) and the grouper wouldn't let any more people in. There were a bunch of people standing out there in the pouring rain including us, and it got cold. By the time we could get in it had stopped pouring (for only a few minutes). There was also some thunder. The rain went on for about an hour or more, with thunder. We were in the station quite a while. Oh yeah, it also seemed as if there was a problem on the ride. When it began pouring, there were still people out on the brakes on one of the trains but they couldn't get it going? Eventually they fixed it, but those people were soaked. At 3:30 they finally began testing, and after a while, finally opened up. It was a great ride in the second to last row.

Ummm, Bull was closed and testing, and the line outside the queue was absolutely absurd, so we went on Chubasco. This was a lot easier to turn than the last time! I was flying all around the car, I almost felt sick from spinning so much. Next I think was Vu, waited maybe 40 min-an hour. There were 2 misparks, and a problem with one of the harnesses. We were getting on, and a kid from the previous ride was stuck in his seat because the harness wouldn't open. They tried over and over, and they sent people back into the station. They eventually had to get a mechanic to unscrew some screws and take off the backing, and try to open it that way. It took some time, but eventually they finally did it. That poor kid was afraid. So we finally got on, back row.

Next we rode Bull. 3 train op this time. Then we tried to ride Eagle, but the line was just too long for me to wanna wait. We got on Revy again, and Iron Wolf. Then we went on V2 in the back, meh. Then Batman in the back, yay. Line was much shorter than earlier. We also went on Ragin' Cajun. King Chaos was open, had to ride it. It makes me uneasy when I hear unusual things on rides that I don't normally hear. People getting on this ride were STUPID though, oh my freaking god. A BUNCH of girls took their flip flops off and put them in the bin and were told to go put them back on and they took forever to listen, and there was this other girl who ended up not going on.

Whizzer was next. After a 15-20 minute wait we got on, good ride as always. Then we went on Orbit, fun. At this point the only ride I cared about was Vu. So we got in line again. One of the ops seemed really frustrated with riders today, you know when people don't listen and they pull the green harness down. Yeah she was REALLY trying to enforce that on the mic. I would've been like that too, it's like you repeat something a bunch of times and people still don't listen. We got on in the back about 8:30, and it was a good ride. Saw the fireworks in Hometown Square while we were on.

We walked around a bit and then sat down in front of Vu until it was 8:55. We then got in the line. Got last dispatch of the night in 8A. I don't really like the A seats anymore unless it's front row. I felt unsafe for once.

So it was a great day! Not too crowded. The rain was nice too even though we got soaked, but it was a somewhat nice way to cool off.

I really need to get back on Vu real soon.
For the miscatch, did you get anything?
I'm guessing no because the cycle was virtually over.

Yeah, we had no idea there was a power outage. The ops just kept on saying there was a delay in operation.

We were hoping for some kind of pass from the miscatch, but nope. It didn't last long either.

I never in my life experienced a dispatch. Is it scary, or fun?

BTW: Great trip report!

I got stuck in my seat too on Deja Vu once. A ride op then came over and pushed down really hard on my restraint and then pulled back and it still didn' t open. Eventually my restraint opened after the op held the restraint down for awhile and then pulled it open, but that was after they already tried that a few times. This also happened after a retraction, so that was a pretty memorable Deja Vu ride.

That happens all the time on DejaVu, normally a really hard push will do the trick but if it doesnt they have to lock unlock the seat until they can get it to open. If it doesnt open, ride maintenence has to come out and take the shell off the back, manually open it, WD40 it, screw the shell back on, and it goes back up. Though its the most common at Vu, it happens at other coasters every once in awhile.
