Wednesday, 7/16/03 11:00 PM Night 2(A major family part edited out from the journal entry...)Ater this... on to Six Flags New England. We pulled up - huge parking lot, $10 for parking. But it was very much worth it. The atmosphere of the park is great. The main path is cobblestone and there is a Grand Carousel welcoming you. It feels as if you're in a small town how well this main path is themed. On to the DC comics superhero are and towards the enticing S:RoS. Oh My! Everything is amazingly themed in this little nook of the park. We heard it had rained all morning so the park was shockingly, not packed. The wait for Superman five minutes? What? I hopped on towards the middle. I thought this ride would be good, but that was an understatement. S:RoS SFNE style is amazing. The airtime is on every hill and it never lets up. I'm an airtime whore so this instantly was my favorite coaster. Fog, tunnels, airtime, bunny hills, overbanked turns, INTAMIN! This has been rated #1 steel coaster since 2000 and it is very deserving. Okay, we got off and walked through the huge queue line again. It is so long and we had to go under so many rails. Another short wait, great ride. We did this one more time for 3 rides. The wait got a bit longer so we went and hit up Poinson Ivy's Tangled Train. Theming does a lot for this kiddie coaster. I had no idea it had any association with Batman. Decent ride, exactly like the Roadrunner's Express at SFWoA.Next, my sister led us into the Joker, "an indoor dark spinny ride." It was hot, humid, and no moving air in the queue line. Black walls smelling of fresh paint. It's a miracle no one passed out. After a half hour we got on the ride and it sucked. I rode with some random man but it was cool. It was an indoor "Casino/Starfish" ride but the special effects were really cool. It definitely wasn't worth it. Mom was feeling a bit sick from the line more than the ride, so she sat off the next ride. That next ride was also heavily themed. Batman Dark Knight. The line had neat signs with villains from Batman on them. Once again, the line was very long to walk through, but only a 10 minute wait. SFNE had made a great first impression on me after the first few rides! Friendly staff, little stacking, and efficient ops. They assigned seating and this bothered me - but it was okay. We got the last row. The ride was good - a decent floorless with 5 inversions... but BKF still kicks! The lift hill was short and the ride wasn't too fast. Large loop, dive loop, ZERO-G ROLL! < that was awesome - and then the interlocking corkscrews. Not fast enough, no airtime, not a good drop, but I need to give it a better chance.Next up was the Tunderbolt. Once again, assigned/type seating. I was in the middle of the train with my mom. One train op- very poorly executed. One train operation is why we passed up the hour wait at Mind Eraser. Thunderbolt was neat looking, but short and forceless. No airtime!

but it needs more of a chance also. Next we headed to Tomahawk, a Huss giant frisbee and it was a great ride. A first for me. Mom stayed off and the sky turned black. It started to drizzle and we went to Cyclone. One train again - we weren't able to choose our seats. There was a huge descrepencey because they sent too many people up to the station and half of my family waited for the front seat. Some Q-Bot people assumed they got it - but I hate those people so I didn't care they wasted some money and got assigned a seat. I liked the ride. By the time were were off it was downpouring. The family was soaked. We hung out under a canopy for a bit then us kids rode Flashback twice. It is the neatest looking Boomerang I've ever seen, and it's so smooth. Great ride. Byt then the rain stopped. Harig luck, the first night at a new park - it storms - just like SFGAm last year. Well it rained hard, but it let up. Next we rode the Time Warp which is a Vekoma Air Jumper. Everyone in my family rode it but my mom. We liked it quite a bit. Mom had ride choice now so we rode the sky bucket cage balls. They were very neat and very open. This is one of the best "park transit" rides I've ever been on.I noticed something about SFNE. They are very particular in their ways - how harnesses all have to be double-checked, huge gates for employees to stand behind when a train dispatches, catution lines 4 feet back from the air gates, how many people allowed in the station at one time and "NO RERIDES!" Next up was the Mind Eraser, a smooth SLC over grass that has been overcloned that my brother and I got to ride in the front seat. Not even a 10 min wait. Glad we got the credit and got off. A SFNE op hoopped on and caught a ride - this surprised me with how strict they are at that park. The exit gate wouldn't open and a guy was a jerk to me. The night would end on 10 rides on S:RoS. The station would be empty and we'd run around and go back in the Q-bot entrance. We got the last ride of the night. Back seat. Force Face (something we do for the picture). We bought the picture with us 4 kids in it. Great picture. It was 10 and we left the train which was only ¼ full. We told the guys it was the best coaster in the world. I was impressed with S:RoS, but not SFNE ride operations. Nice park - stupid policies - awesome rides. I want to familiarize with the wood coasters tomorrow and ride some flat rides. I hope we go for all day. The alarm is set for 8:00 AM. What a great day at the park!
