I Hate The Rain!(Long TR)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVu28140 on July 7th, 2003, 9:47 pm
Hey guys(and gals), I'm pretty new here. So I'd thought I'd tell you my day at SFGAM yesterday(7/6/03).Since it was my friend Jen's birthday. We went to SFGAM. It was my friend Jen, her boyfriend Mickey, my friend Nicole and myself going. We arrived at the park around 9:50. We would have arrived sooner, but we somehow got lost. My friend Jen has no sense of direction at all. :roll:We had our Coke-Cola cans in our hands and went up to the ticket booth. The ticket vender was a really nice old man. He said "If you want to save money, get your hand stamped, and walk to Burger King". (Since we all looked kind of trashy, I think he thought we were poor or something.) :?:We all entered the park by 10:15. we headed toward S:UF. We all saw the line and we said "I dont think so". The line was too long. We then turned the opposite direction to go to Whizzer.Whizzer-Walk on. Good ride. After we got off Whizzer, we wanted to go the nearest ride, which I said was Deja Vu(which was closed, as usual), we went to Demon instead.Demon-No one(I mean no one) in the station. A walk-on. Rode twice. Good workers on this ride. One of them let us ride twice. On the lift of Demon, I noticed no one was in the line for Raging Bull. As usual, I was right.Raging Bull- Walk-on. Back row. Rode this twice.OK, this is where our HUGE mistake comes in. Since we were all sweating(I dont know how though), we wanted to go on Splash Down Falls. HUGE mistake!Splash down falls- Walk-on. Got soaked. I mean COMPLETELY soaked! After ride went on bridge, got even more soaked.Since we were wet, I mean soaked, we couldnt ride anything until we got a little dryer. We played some games. I won a stuffed turtle. An hour passed by, and we are still soaked, but we didn't care. Went on to American Eagle.American Eagle- Walk-on. 5 minute wait. I wanted to ride backwards. But everyone else wanted to ride forwards. So they rode forwards, I rode backwards. Good ride. Helix got better! :-)After American Eagle. Went to Giant Drop.Giant Drop- Walk on. Awesome view, except for the dark clouds above. As soon as we left Giant Drop, it began to drizzle. We didnt care. Since we were kinda getting dry, we wanted to check out Superman. Long a$$ line. Decided to avoid it. Then the rain came. and i mean it came!We ran to this store, and got kicked out because the lady yelled at us for no reason. It was now around 12. We ran to this store and sat down on this bench. We waited there for about 30 minutes. As I looked to the side of me, I saw a mob of people leaving. This was a good thing. Because if the rain stopped the park would be empty. The rain didn't stop at all. We heard the tornado sirens, but I ignored them. Since we were by S:UF, I saw the line for it. There were people standing for it to open, while it's pouring out. That didnt make sense to me.Rain began to clear up. I went to the bathroom. And as soon as i was walking back to where we were, it began to poor...once again.Waited there some more. Then blue skies appeared. We walked around for 15 min. We saw rides testing. We all got excited. We thought "Yea! Our day isn't ruined yet"By now, rides were beginning to test. Such as Demon and Raging Bull. Ran to Demon.Demon- Good ride. Kinda bumpy in the corkscrew though. Then rode Raging Bull.Raging Bull- Walk-on. Rode in back. Kind of intense because of the slippery rails. Full of air-timeWalked to American Eagle. Then here comes the rain! Oh boy! It poured! it poured for about an hour. Since we were under the tent by American Eagle, I bought a foot long hot dog and a Sprite! Yummmm!!! We heard the tornado warning and ran to the funnel cake shoppe for cover! To pass the time, we were making fun of these preppy girls who were very annoying. It was fun!Since we were soaked, once again, we saw people in there w/ ponchos. We asked them where they got them. They were like "In this shop called Attitudes." We like "OK, thank you." Attitudes was nowhere near by. The employee in the funnel cake shop heard us complaining of us being soaked, and gave us garbage bags to wear. It was fun wearing garbage bags in the park! We put the garbage bags on, walked outside, and what do you know, it stops raining. Walked around to ask employees if they think the park will open back up. All of them said "NO!"We walked around to play some of the few agmes that were open. We saw Demon testing. But we didnt wanna go on it when it opened. We walked towards Raging Bull and saw it open. Went on it.Raging Bull- Walk-on. Good ride. Really fast.Walked towards Viper, but decided not to ride it just yet. We wanted to see if Whizzer would be open. As soon as we passed the Fast Lane Center, we saw this HUGE, I mean huge, bolt of lightning, then came a loud screeching noise, then like a milli-second later, came the rumble from the thunder. Everyone around us screamed and run for cover. Then it began to pour. We put on our garbage bags, and it stopped raining! Everytime we put on those garbage bags, it stopped raining. It was odd!We didn't know if to go home, or to stay until they open the rides. We decided to stay! We got some cheese fries, some pop and just walked around. Walked passed S:UF and people were STILL waiting for it to open. It had to be about 6 o'clock now.Walked to Orleans Place, to Southwest Territory just playing games. It was now about 7:30. The rides were now open. Iron Wolf was our next ride.Iron Wolf. Walk-on. Two times. One front, One back. Back was rough. Front was a tid bit better. We walked towards V2. Never in my young life, have I ever seen such a small line. There was no one in line. My friends went on Batman, while I went on v2. I told them I'd meet them at the exit by Batman.V2- Awesome ride. First time, rode front row. Second time, rode 7th row. third time, rode 14th row. I rode it three times in 15 min! Isn't that awesome?!Met up w/ my friends. Rode Batman.Batman- No one in line. Completely empty. Rode front row. Very intense. Then rode V2, once again. But this time w/ my friend Mickey.V2- Awesome. 13th row this time. That back spike seems to hang you up there shorter then last time I was on it. But it was fun. Ran to Raging Bull.Raging Bull- On the way there, we heard "Six Flags Great America will be closing in 10 minutes." We got the very last ride of the night on Raging Bull! It was awesome. I love that tunnel at night. We got our on-ride photo of the ride. I looked funny...as usual. It was a fantastic day......except for all the rain delays throughout the day. One of the better visits I had this year. Thanks for listening!-Brian

Wow. This one bolt of lighting seems to be infamous as all 4 people have mentioned it in their TRs. I wish I could get as many walk on rides as you got, but it sounds like you spent a lot of money at the park. I try to spend non inside Six Flags.

One of those people waiting for Superman to open during the 3 tornado sirens was me. I was wearing a poncho and at the front of the line. We waited there for 4 hours until it finally opened. Got two rides and then that big lightning bolt came and closed it down again. That bolt of lightning was something else, it was like somebody dropped a bomb, it came out of nowhere.

4 hours????? Whoa!! That's too long! I wouldn't stay in that line for that long of time!! But yet again, I waited 3 1/2 hours for Deja Vu. That lightning did sound like a bomb went off! It was kinda cool though if you think about it!-Brian

yeah 4 hours, it sounds like a waste of time. But in reality it wasn't. Nothing else in the park was running, I wasn't planning on leaving the park early and driving home in the tornado weather. So instead of just standing around someplace else in the park, I stood around in front of Superman. I didn't feel like it was a waste of time at all lol.

:x I was also there that day, but my story is the opposite. The day started by me and some friends getting tickets. When we got to the metal detecters it kept going off on me. When we finally got past we went to batman the line was really short. But this was the only good part of the day. After batman we went towards eagle the line was big but I figured it was the weekend so the line would be big. When I finally got to eagle I ended up sitting by somebody which was going on her first coaster and you could tell she started screaming just going up the chain lift. After eagle I went to Raging Bull the line was just as big. When I was on you could see the huge storm clouds all around. When we were half way up the lift it started to rain. The rain felt like rocks hitting you it was terrible. After we got off we went to go eat. After we finished we heard there was a tornado warning so we went to take shelter in the shuttle. The worker in the shuttle was the rudest person i have ever met he started shoving people on to each other when the storm passed the sun came out and this guy just shuts the door and kept telling us that nobody could leave until he found out that the warning was canceled when we finally got out of there we noticed that the rides were open so we went on viper after viper i wanted to go back to my locker which was all the way across the park when i finished we went on iron wolf after we got off it started to storm agan so we dicided to find shelter while we were walking i got hit and knocked out by somthing probaly dabree when i finally came to there was an employee standing over me he asked me was i was i ok i thought i was until i stood up i ended up breaking my wrist that was the worst trip to g/a i ever had and i probally will never go to g/a agan

I don't believe that you got hit in the head and knocked out by debris...becuase if you had, the park would have closed just for safety reasons. Six Flags can't have debris flying all over while people are on rollercoasters!-Brian

I could make a crack and reveal the real reason for the broken wrist but I wont go there.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

... well, doing that on Iron Wolf, I could see how it would break your wrist... And the design of the seat would make it look like nothing is out of the ordinary when you return to the station.
