6/14/06 Flag Day--Long

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Chubascoboy on June 15th, 2006, 1:31 am
Got a little bit of a late start for my first '06 visit and got in the park about 10:30. Man, 15 bucks to park! That's brutal. The lot didn't seem too full yet at least.

Quick service getting the tickets and getting in the gate and we went right for S:UF as usual and found the line back to the entrance but not in switchbacks. Decided to give it a pass and headed back to Ragin' Cajun for a 15 min wait. This was only my 2nd time on RC and it's alright, a great ride for the whole family to go on but give me a plain ole NON spinning mouse any day like Wildcat at CP.

Then we went and lost some pocket change on King Chaos and wondered if they ever actually turn the water jets on. I've never seen them operate even on very hot days I've been there. Do they actually get you wet while you are on the ride?

Next up was Batman but a train was stuck on the lift and the line was closed so we hit up V2 for a 2 cycle wait. Not bad. I actually like this ride better than Wicked Twister because the back spike does not twist. Seemed a little slower though. Still awesome and one of my favorites. Batman was just reopening, so we walked on the back row and repeated with a row 2 walk on. Always an incredible ride. It was about 11:45 now and the sun was pretty hot. I forgot sunscreen and was worried I'd start to burn. Looked like it was gonna be a decent day crowd-wise though. There was still that chance for rain.

We grabbed a pretzel and waited about 20 minutes for Iron Wolf as only one train was operating. Meh, what can I say? It's the wolf. The new OTSR padding was clean and not smelly but was also harder not having been broken in by being smashed a million times by people's heads. At least while waiting for IW we saw Vu running with people. It had been on and off it seemed since we got there. Left the wolf, noticed that Revolution was going to be down all day and headed for The Eagle for a cycle wait for back seat on blue (no red today). I didn't think I'd miss the option to ride backwards but I actually do. The new paint on the track looks nice though.

Deja Vu's line seemed at least 45 minutes so we rode Demon in front and then did the Orbit. I always ride the Orbit, I love this ride. Having a two-person crew really makes the loading so much faster.

We decided we were hungry and needed sunscreen so we went to the car for a quick lunch around 1:30. We were doing pretty well for only 3 hours of park time I thought.

After we came back in, we decided to check out the Marvin the Martian cartoon at the IMAX. This was a blast! First cartoon I've ever seen in IMAX 3D. I loved it. Daffy Duck should have got some billing though. He was in it just as much as Marvin.

After leaving the theatre, It was getting cloudy and cooler. We took a spin on Whizzer on the way to Deja Vu which, thankfully, was still running and I was afraid of rain so we went ahead and waited about 40 minutes to ride with one short breakdown. I hate the loading for this ride. It couldn't be more of a cluster freak. Cool ride though if you are lucky enough for it to be working. Glad It was today, finally.

We finally headed to SW Territory, waited about 15 minutes for the Drop then got in line for the Bull. The line started just past all the switchbacks and was moving fast when it started to sprinkle. We got on the train in about 15 minutes and it started to rain. Kinda neat in the rain. It would have been painful if it had been raining any harder. It was raining steadily when we left RB so we hopped in line for Chubasco to get out of the downpour for a bit. I love this ride not because of the ride itself, but I think it's the best-themed ride in the park. We hung out in the shelter of the Chubasco station for a bit. The rain never got too heavy and all the rides stayed open so we went to viper for a back seat walk on. Nice in the rain.

We finished up with a walk on for Superman a front seat one-cycle wait for Batman and a damp flight on the Condor. I had never been on the Condor and I have to say it's actually more fun than it looks. Some nice views up there.

We left the park at 5 and all-in-all we had a great day. Lines weren't bad. was generally impressed by the staff, the park seemed really clean except for all the gum and spit on the queue awning under S:UF's lift hill. That is just nasty. I'm sure everything was a walk-on for the rest of the night. I didn't mind the rain at all. It was a great day. The waterpark was deserted all day but I don't think the Tornado ran all day either. Not sure. Even with the rain, this trip beats the heck out of my final '05 trip. I have never seen ANYplace as crowded as GAmerica was that day. Thanks for a great day Six Flags!

Nope, King Chaos has never used water jets. Sounds like a nice day though.

The Tornado was working today. And the rain really wasn't that bad yesterday. It made people flee and stuff but a lot of rides kept operating. Unfortunetly I was about to get on Ragin Cajun when the rain started and I guess that's one of the few rides that can't handle the rain so that sucked. But the good thing about the rain is that when it settled down/stopped Deja Vu was testing while we were by so we got in line just as it opened.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Sounds like a great day. But as far as the 45 Min wait on Deja vu, that ride is hardly open. so when it is, i dont care how long i have to wait, its worth it

This statement is funny, "so we hopped in line for Chubasco to get out of the downpour for a bit." Try to figure it out if you can.

Deja is completely safe. If the harnesses were to unlock, you have the belt stuck to the harnesses. On top of that, you have the seatbelt around your waist. You can't get out, unless you, yourself are unlocking those other things.
