SFGAm and HH 6/11/06 Pretty Long

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby sixflagsdude on June 12th, 2006, 12:25 am
Remember last week when I said that it was my last trip until FrightFest? Haha, I lied I guess.

Here is another long report and I can't believe I have the energy to type all this after the exhausting day today! I am also including one pic I took of a billboard @ the end of the post.

Today I went with my friend Mimi and we wanted to get an early start. So I woke up @ 7:30am(yep you read that right) and got ready and was at her place by 9:00am. We went out to eat at this place called Myers and it was really good. Then we headed out and got to the park by 10:30. Mimi forgot to bring her season pass but luckily if you go to Guest Services they will print you out a new one for free the first time you lose it (like I did last year when my wallet, keys and cell fell out on Superman). We parked in Lot 23 which was even closer than I parked last time. :)

Even though it was pretty cold and windy out we decided to check out Hurricane Harbor first since Mimi's never been there before. So we got a locker and changed into our swim gear. Again, the bathrooms were totally clean and I am so impressed with this! The water park was totally dead(only a few random people there) and there was a cold wind so we knew we'd be in trouble as soon as we got wet.

The first water ride we went on was Tornado since it was the closest. There was no line and no green 2 seater tubes so we had to lug a big heavy yellow one up the stairs and were out of breath by the time we got to the top. Since there was noone there we had to get on right away. I swear the water on this one is refrigerated, it's cold and brutal(even last week when it was hot out). We screamed, giggled and all that other stuff on it and of course I was facing backwards the whole time again. This is fun(but not as good as Stingray @ Noah's Ark, yeah I know I compare things to that park too much).

Next we headed to the slide complex(no lines on any of these) next to it and first went on Hammerhead and Barracuda. I don't like the waterfalls that slap you in the face on these. The yellow one is much faster and more fun than the blue one. Then we went on Vortex and Typhoon(the toilet bowl ones). They both are great but you really need to ride double to get the fierce speed factor(it's even faster yet if you don't let your butt drag on the surface through the tube). The pink and yellow one has a steeper drop on it, but on both we were facing backwards when we dropped through the hole at the end. Then we went on the last 2 slides on this complex which were Paradise Plunge and Riptide. These are extremely fast and insane(I read 40 MPH somewhere but don't quote me on it) but there are some sharp rivets on the purple one that are painful on the back so I won't be doing that one again.

Then we headed to Castaway Creek(lazy river) and as always this is so much fun. We took 2 trips around the circuit and didn't wanna get off. I think we took another half trip around and got off near the next set of slides...

Went on Bahama Mama and Bubba Tubba next. These have the big rafts that fit 5 people. First we went on the blue and green one which was the better one that had more twists. The first time Mimi slipped when we got out and fell right on her back and started laughing and flailing her arms and legs like a turtle on it's back. That was hillarious. Then we went on the purple and yellow one which had some steep drops in it.

After that we went to this cute little splash area that had a squishy turtle and starfish in it(there were other little cute things there too). We stayed there and layed out for awhile.

Then we went to my fave part, Skull Island! I think we spent at least an hour there. We went on every slide, played with all the water guns and jets and net bridges(which are hard on bare feet). The blue slide is pretty lame, the yellow and green ones are pretty good and the purple one is the best! We finished off on the orange one which is where you are hit by tons of water jets(Mimi turned them off before we went on but I went back and turned them all on as soon as she launched and she was ready to kill me, haha).

Next, we went on the Hurricane Mountain slides. The blue and purple ones are the best and so much fun. The green and yellow ones didn't have much ventilation and were hot inside. No lines on any of these.

Then we went on the Wahoo Racer ones, no lines again. We went on the orange ones and they were cool and fast but too much water went up our noses at the end.

After that we went to some sandy area where there was this stage and did a bunch of contests. We did a bubblegum blowing contest(I won), then a hula hoop contest(Mimi won), then a cow milking contest(Mimi won) and we did some other stuff like the ball cup contest(did that by myself and got max points) and then this thing where me and Mimi had to hold a bar with our midsections and spin a string ball around the bar, we won and maxed out anyone else that day.

We finished off by going on Castaway Creek, the wave pool(Hurricane Bay) and then the toilet bowl slides again. Changed(because we were FREEZING and it got cloudy) and then ate at the Beachside Bar and got Mai Tai's which were too strong! Then we went to a bunch of shops and got carmel apples and Mimi bought some shirts and I got 2 batman coaster models and a couple of other coaster ones that are motorized and you can connect them together. Went to the car to drop everything off and came back into the park. We were sorta limping by this point because I stubbed my toe in the waterpark and Mimi hurt her knee.

Decided to go in the clockwise direction and went on the Condor and Superman first. We shopped at the Hero's store and I bought a cool spinner ring.

After that we went into the New Orleans area and went on King Kaos. They changed the ride a bit and you only flip 3 times instead of 5 at the beginning. Then we noticed that Sylvester was around so we got our picture taken with him.

Then we went on the East River Crawler and Whirligig and then went on Batman, front row, and only had to wait 2 ride cycles. By the way, we used our free coupon for Flash Passes but never used them since the park was pretty dead.

After that we went on V2 and got the front row, it was only a 10 min wait. Then we walked all the way around to Carousel Plaza and watched the Marvin the Martian 3-D show at the Pictorium. I thought they charged for it but it was free(score). It was cool and you get these 3D glasses to watch it with. Oh yayy Daffy Duck was in it which rocked.

Next, we went on the Whizzer(10 min wait and we got in the back seat) and then split a funnel cake at the place next to it.

Then we went on Deja Vu and rode the back seat. This was only a 15 min wait which is the shortest I have ever waited for it(and our first ride on it this season). This is so much fun but sort of head bangy in the batwing part when you go backwards through it.

Finished off riding the Demon(back row yellow train), Raging Bull(back seat red train), Viper(4th row), and then Giant Drop(no line). We still had an hour left so we did more shopping and turned in our pink tickets for the pics we got(one with Sylvester and the other from when we entered the park). The pics both turned out great but you could tell the difference from when we first got there to the later one after the water park since we looked beat up, haha. Watched the fireworks and then did more shopping at Flags. It was at least 10pm by the time we left.

Oh, here is a pic I took of a billboard sign thing in front of the park, it's my new cellphone wallpaper. It looks good shrunken down on my phone but is pretty blurry full sized:

Wow, I wanted to go on all the slides too but I didn't want to be in HH for too long, plus my partner can't handle the cold as well as I can... and neither could my mom, who was fully dressed. Nice TR though. I probably saw you and your friend in HH but I have no idea what you guys look like, so...

i wanted to go to HH on sunday, but danhockey told me to leave my suit at home. It looks so bare. we ate lunch in there, and i nearly took a nap on one of the lounge chairs. I didn't want to leave. I love the atmosphere of HH. Sure, it was a little chilly, but that's the best time to go. awesome awesome.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
