Ok. The Massive 2 Day CP Photo Report. UPDATED WITH DAY 2

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby w00dland on June 10th, 2006, 7:06 pm
Wow guys, I had a pretty incredible time on my road trip to Cedar Point last week. I took over 130 photos, and many of them will be in here. People who attended the trip were myself, Brittney, Matt, Sam, Erin, Lauren, and Evan. We had a totally great time so here goes the biggest picture (and video) TR I've ever made.

This whole trip started with this really fun 6 and a half hour drive that started around 8:30 AM. Too bad I slept through most of this part so I couldn't take any pictures. I finally got the camera out for the construction of the tents. There were 2 of them:

The Girls tent:
Image

And.....The MENStent:
Image

After we made the tents all pretty we looked around this camping place and noticed a big colorful thingy in the distance. In our confusion we ran over to find out that it was:

Image

A JUMPING PILLOW!

Image

It was pretty much the coolest thing we'd seen so far onthe trip.

We had some dinner, and went to bed. We arose for a very important day, the first day at Cedar Point!

Image

We walked into the park, and it was only 9:30, yet a few of the rides were operating for apparently anyone to ride. Maxair was right there, so we went for it!

Image

I have to admit, it was quite a sexy little piece of Huss.

Next was Wicked Twister

Image

It was a walk on, but when we entered the train a ride op looked at the front wheel of the front row and realized there was a big crack down the center of it. So we left and headed for somethign else.

That something else was Power Tower.
Image

Opted for the side that shoots you up first because it was a walk on, big disappointment. Didn't do much for me at all, I'll take GD anyday over that.

Okay, enough of this flat ride junk, it was tiem for one of CP's 16 coasters, and what was closest?

Image

Yeah, Top Thrill Dragster.

Now, Sam and Evan havn't been on anything faster than Whizzer in their lives, so they are a little....uneasy about this ride.
Image
[img]http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/7225/sfgam0706wr.jpg

Even the girl going down the brake run was a little uneasy about the ride:
Image

I was pretty excited. Remember the fastest ride I've been on was Goliath at 85 MPH, this pretty much put that ride to rest.
Image

We rode, and it was totally amazing. So fast.
Image

But that really wasn't my favorite ride at the park. I'm an airtime whore! So we moved into the park and rode the first coaster to 200 feet, Magnum!
Image

Front row was a walk on, so I jumped into that seat and loved the ride. After that I rode 1:3 a few times and was totally amazed, the ejector airtime on this ride is so incredible! To some people it might hurt, but I loved every second of it! My favorite ride at CP.

We moved into Frontier land after that, and I noticed a bunch of construction. I took a few pictures including one of all the track sitting outside of Breakers Express, I don't want to upload them, so PM me if you need them.

We wanted to ride Mean Streak, btu it was experiencing some troubles, so we rode the train!
Image

Before we took off I noticed they were shoveling actual coal into this engine, and I thought that was crazy.

We didn't want to walk all the way back to the car, so we took the Skyride, I really wish SFGAm had one of these, they are great.
Image
HEY GUYS! I CAN SEE YOU!!!!!!

After that we had some sammich's outside in the car which were just grand. Then we just kept on walkin in the park all the way to Iron Dragon.

It was a pretty boring ride for the first half, but then we got stuck on the 2nd lift! Luckily our buddy John walked up and told us everything was going to be OK!
Image
Sam was so worried, but we lived to tell the tale. The 2nd half was better anyway!

During our little breakdown I noticed that Dragster was having some Mechanical Problems. (Mostly because the speaker was so loud in the Queue I'm pretty sure everyone in the park knew it. Once we got off we noticed Dragster sending empty trains! We ran over and it was only a 10 minute wait for more fast fun!

Image

Oh man, that ride is just so freaking fast...

Anywways, it was time for Gemini:
Image
It was really smooth and packed some good floating airtime, I liked it a lot because they raced the trains so well. Too bad Kyle didn't work there anymore :(

After that we rode the Mine Train, which was way better than SFStL's of SFMM's mine trains. Then we heard this really cool noise.

Image

It was Skyhawk! Seriously. The thing made the coolest noises when it was operating, the air compressor was worth the 10 minute wait by itself. The ride was okay, it had a super short cycle where you only got high maybe 2 or 3 times, but it was cool.

After that we hit Mean Streak. Yawn. It was so boring I didn't even take a picture of it. No airtime, not even a painful jolt on my spine. It failed me as a coaster.

After that we decided against seeing the "Devine Divas" show because it sounded lame. (More about this amazing show in Day 2) We headed back to the front of the park and decided to have skip MF for now because the wait was still hovering around an hour, and it was mostly school kids. Next was Mantis.

Image

I don't know what people have against this ride, I loved every second of it! It takes a chapter out of Riddler's First half and and kickass second half of Iron Wolf (near identicle) to make a really great (and smooth) ride.

After that it was time for some dinnnner. We went to Johnny V's and some excellent Malts and Fries. They even danced. If you want to see the dance go here. (Trust me, you WANT to see this dance.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWETmo_gA7E

That was great. After dinner we did Disaster Transport, which was exceeded how cool I thought it was going to be. We walked onto the ride and it was my first bobsled coaster. Woo! We also did Wicked Twister which was cool and pretty much just like V2, I didn't even noticed the speed and height differences. Sat in the 2nd row.

After that was the Raptor:
Image

We liked it A LOT. Smooth, fast, loved the double helix at the end, great ride overall. We sat in the front row and got killed by bugs, but it was worth it.

After that was MF.
Image
Now, this ride had some great speed. I sat in 5:1 like I was told to by the National Geographic Channel, and I thought it was a pretty decent ride, but nothing really special. It was really fast, and insanly smooth. It was so smooth I could see the ride getting boring if I kept riding it more. This was everyone's favorite coaster but mine.

It was getting pretty late and all the crowds were completely gone. Unfortunatly I left my camera in the locker that Lauren got for her bag at MF so there are so more pictures, so I'll let you know what happened. We hit Magnum 3 times, Gemini twice, and Corkscrew (which had incredible airtime on that first bunny hill in the front row, I can only imagine how much Turn of the Century had), then headed back to Dragster at around 9:50. The ride was only a station wait (3 of 4 trains max) but me and Brit really wanted a front row ride, and it was only a 7 train wait so we tried it. Matt and Lauren went twice in this amount of time because they left the line open until around 10:10 which I thought was pretty awesome. Even Evan, Sam, and Erin got to come for a ride after riding Gemini like 8 more times after we left it.

Anyways, me and Brit ended up getting last ride of the night in the front row and it was incredible. Easily the best ride experience I had at the park either day because the cool air rushing at my face and the darkness at the top was incredible. It even rivles my X rides for best experiences.

That was the end of day one, we were all exhausted so we pretty much crashed right away when we got back to the campsite.

That day was pretty incredible.

That's all for now, I'll update with day two when I get home tonight, STAY TUNED!

Hm, I thought the power tower launched side was awsome. Especially when you're at the top and feel like your gonna go flying out of your seat.

Alright, sorry this took so long. It's time for part two!

Well we all woke up around 8 oclock to shower up and have a Pop-Tart or two, then jumped back in the fun mobile for more fun in the fun park!

Then we realized the jumping pillow was filled up still from the night before!!!!

Image

I don't think you guys really are aware with how amazing the jumping pillow is. So I decided to take my first ever POV video of my life while on the jumping pillow. Enjoy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elMAGtr3bKc

After that fun, we marched back into Cedar Point, as there were a few marching bands playing.

Image

Image

Aren't we just so bandlike? We decided that we REALLY wanted to hit on MForce before that line got too long, so we just headed right on over there.

Image

Wait, since when has this been an Intamin? Oh crap, we're all dead.

Image

Somehow we all survived our ride on MForce, so we headed to something a little more safe, Mantis. A great standing B&M coaster that isn't an Intamin!

Image

Mantis was still great, I love the S-curve right before the MCBR, it's so fast and fun and beautiful. Unfortunatly there were only two other people in my group who like that ride. :(

So we had these Ride n Slide tickets, and havn't used the waterpark yet! It was a beautiful 85 degree sunny day, so we headed back to the car to change clothes.

I didn't bring my camera into the waterpark, and there reallly wasn't much to take pictures of in there, I thought other than the family waterslide which was great, HH completly blows this park out of the water. (pun intended) We only stayed in there for about an hour and a half. We came back, ate lunch, and headed back into the park.

There were only a few rides the whole group hadn't hit the first day, and Disaster Transport was the first we saw.

Image

Now I heard this was an air conditioned queue line and all, but it still went against my ACEr grain to walk into this line when I knew it'd be a walk on at night.

Image

45 minutes? Ahh! It actually was only around a half hour, and the line moved pretty quickly. And there was stuff to look at in the queue line, as well which made the wait shorter.

Image

That sign also made the wait much much shorter.

The ride itself was fun, w00t w00t! I wish SFGAm had a dark ride.

Next was a little more of my favorite CP coaster, the Magnum!

Image

Oh ACE plaque! Line was about 10 minutes, but all of our sunburn from the waterpark was starting to hurt.

Image

Matt the weatherman's all: "Why is my arm turning red? Did I eat too many tomateos at lunch today?"

After that beautiful piece of condom, we headed over to the next coaster.

Image

It was grand! My side won the race like always because they have ME! w00dland the race master ninja guy in the train.

Well after this coaster the group was starting to get a little tired to be frank. We all picked up some Tshirts at a gift shop, then Matt the weatherman said that he wanted to go see this lame show called "Devine Divas" at this small lame theater. He said he wanted to see how good the voices were.

Image

Well, I have a few pics of the actual show on my cell phone, but the show was AMAZING!!!! The show started off with all these women in long gowns and I'm thinking "lame" then suddenly all those long gowns went to the floor. Then the dresses underneath the gowns went to the floor, then they started singing Lady Marmalade and the have the audience started hooting and screamign and the other half left saying: "Well I never!"

After all was said and done, Sam was all like:

Image

OH EM GEE I CAN'T BELIEVE CEDAR POINT HAS A PEEPSHOW!

Matt the weatherman is also in shock.

Image

He's all: "Aren't you happy I dragged you guys into this show?"

We were even lucky enough to get a picture with the singing Divas after the show.

Image

Notice the pure form of excitment on all of our faces. Oh boy, that was the best theme park show I've ever seen.

Phew! After that it was time to do a few normal things, you know like:

Image

Feeding the animals, and...

Image

Slapping the booties...

Image

Having a horse race...You know, just normal everyday type things. We wanted to do Raptor, but that line was massive, so we wen ton Blue Streak instead.

Image

Now I'll be honest, after Mean Streak I wasn't really expecting too much out of this ride. I sait in 2nd row and just sat on my Tshirt. After that second hill ejector airtime my shirt was already on the floor of the train. That ride owns it's big brother!

Like I said, Raptor's line was still grossly enormous, so we went on this spinny ride that was sort of like Fiddler's Fling but not as good.

Image

I looked over and saw this sweet looking car ride, so we all did that.

Image

The reason nobody was using their hands was because there were about 2 million bugs on the course of that ride, and we were all covering our faces for dear life. There were so many bugs!

I got off the ride and asked the lady if there were always that many buys in the evening, but she was all like "No w00dland, there's only that many bugs when a storm is coming"

Uh oh.

I looked up and saw this:

Image

And some more black clouds. Then instantly after I took that picture it got really windy. Then we all heard this big moan come from the crowd of people waiting for Raptor as it started sending empty trains up the lift. Then there were really big bolts of lightning.

Lets talk to Matt the weatherman, and see what he has to say about these recent developments in the weather:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FMvomlRePA

Looks like everyone is evacuating the park, lets see if we can get confirmation by our cameraman checking out the scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVZVyH41nhg

Hurricane Saung Mina was ripping through Cedar Point with gale force winds:

Image

After what happened in New Orleans we should have evacuated with the others, but decided to pick a restaurant instead and try to weather the storm.

Image

Matt the weatherman isn't very good at coloring in the lines.

We had a really nice waitress, though, she was really funny.

Image

We got back outside, and it seemed like the rain had stopped, but just to make sure lets go back to Matt the weatherman with another follow up report to what happened:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fLUSjuKoZc

Thank you for that, Matt.

After the storm ended, we walked right onto Disaster Transport, but not before Evan got scanned by the scanner:

Image

The ride was grand!

We wanted to do Wicked Twister again, but it was down for mechanical reasons. But Britt did get her picture with the hot ride op

Image

After that we powerwalked on over to Mforce for one last ride. There was a lady who could do the robot really really well to that awesome sexy Mforce station music.

Image

Evan and Sam made the mistake of taking the front row.

Image

Yes, all those black spots are bugs. Gross.

When we got off Mforce it was 9:45, time to go to Dragster, right? Wrong. I put the camera away and me and Britt booked it to Raptor. We walked onto back row for a GREAT ride then booked it right back to Dragster to get there at 10PM. Now it might not sound like much, but if you've been to Cedar Point, you know how long of a run that is and we did a good job.

We really wanted to get front row again, so we jumped into that line. There was one group ahead of us left when they said we will only be sending one more train, so we had to go into the 2nd last row for the ride. It was still a great night ride! I love Dragster, but it would be so much better if it had something else.

Image

The last Dragster car of the night.

Image

We had so much fun on this road trip, I hope we can do it again sometime before college! My favorite coaster at CP was definitely Magnum because it was a little rough and the airtime was incredible! Mantis was a lot of fun as well. MForce and TTD had some amazing speed, and the TTD front row nightride was easily the best ride I had at the park for the two days I was there. Thanks for reading!

I had no idea who that lady was. I didn't see one person I knew at CP once. But we made so many friends!

And the condom thing. Well just take a look at your local Walgreens next time in the condom isle and you'll notice that theres a sort of condom that shares the name of a coaster at CP.

All the pictures made it more exciting to view.

Oh why thank you for the compliments on the TR. Cedar Point is something every coaster dork should experience! It's a great park where most of the employees like their job and try to make your day better. The little things that the employees did at CP made it better than SFGAm.
