Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby themanoftheland8 on June 8th, 2006, 11:58 am
It was a sunny day, about 70 degrees for most of the day. So, seeing the sign saying that Vu would not be open for the day, we decided to head to Superman for the first ride of the day. We ended up on about the fifth dispatch (back row of course). I think I had the best photo I've ever had on this ride. Too bad SF doesn't post those online. :? This was also my dad's first trip of the year to SFGAm, so he hopped on with us.

We then decided to head to V2, a three train wait for second last row. It is wierd (and in my opinion, more thrilling) to look down beneath you while you are on the back spike. Anyways, we headed past Batman, due to the long line. Then, seeing Iron Wolf's normally short line to the bottom of the stairs, we jumped on after what ended up being a half an hour wait. I noticed only 1 train was running, and they were taking the shoulder harnesses off the other train. Also, on my way down the exit, I noticed many more (what I'm assuming were new) harnesses in plastic bags in a box. Personally, I say good job to SF for this. Iron Wolf has some of the most worn down harnesses in the park, and they need replacing.

Anyways, we then headed to American Eagle, where the line was all the way to the bottom of the bridge stairs. Then I realized only Blue was running (probably due to staffing). Good ride on back row .

We took a quick ride on Demon, and then headed over to Bull. On our way, we noticed only half of the Drop cars were running (again, due to staffing). We also noticed that the line for Drop was out to the entrance tunnel . But, it was ok, because Bull's line wasn't bad (out to the "house" using no switchbacks). 15 minute wait for back, another great ride.

At this time, it was about 1:00. I felt lucky today, and I decided to use my free coupon for 2 free games at Blockbuster in County Fair. And, well, my luck must show up at the right times, because I won a Batdog. Now Superdog won't have to be lonley in my cold, isolated video game room in my basement. Thankfully, we parked today, so I wouldn't have to carry the dog around for 8 more hours like last week. A friend of mine was tired though, so he headed off to the train. Being the thrill fanatic that I am, I immediately thought, why don't you 3 go off to ride the train, while me and Mike marathon SPACELYS!!!!!! After all, this was the only SFGAm coaster I had not been on yet this year.

So, we headed off, and decided for the better. We wouldn't want to take all these young ones' precious time away by riding their only coaster (and it was a station wait anyways, so it would be tough to marathon. But we were thinking of the little kids the entire time..... Really, I'm not kidding  ) So we headed off to V2 for a little more than a station wait. By now, we were going crazy. We needed to ride Spacely's in order for out lives to be complete. So, we headed over there and hopped on for the (I'm not sure how long the actual ride is) 10 seconds of our lives.... Or not. Probably more like a good 10 seconds of screaming and flailing our arms around in horror. I'm just glad we made it through alive.

Anyways, after that tiring experience, we hopped on the Demon to relax and headed over to good old Jeza, where the sign that said, "This ride will not be open today" was taken away, and an employee at the entrance. While there, I saw Raging_Bull and EagleFan344. After about 20 minutes of waiting, trusty Deja Vu opened up. We got the first dispatch on back row. Then we quickly got in line again for about a 20 minute wait for row 1B. I think Mike and I both had the same feeling after we rode it. This ride was almost as intense as Spacely's, but we didn't want to talk about Spacelys any more, so we left it at that.

We were starving now, so we headed to lunch at BK, where my favorite worker must have already left. When we got back in at about 5:00, we noticed many of the busses were gone. We got on Demon for another short line. Both Mike and I as soon as we got on the LEMON (not banana) train, said the exact same thing, (and in unison too) "They fixed the light!!!" (you know, the blue light above the entrance tunnel which had been burnt out for who knows how long). Ever since opening day, we had been telling them to notify matinence to fix it, and they did :). This did not come without some more complaining from Mike, who said, "It's still not blue enough. They need to repaint it."

Anyways, while at the top of the lift, we noticed Vu's line was short, AND there was a grouper!!! :D We got on for about a 15 minute wait for row 1A. I love groupers, because few people realize that they can still ask for front.

I kind of forgot what order we went on the rides from here on, but I do remember all of the lines (except for Bull) became significantly shorter at this point. Near the end of the day, we got on a bunch more Demon for a total of 9 times in the day. We also got on Bull a couple more, some Drop, some V2, and some Batman. Then, we hit Vu for the last ride of the day.

Spacely's:1 (who could handle more?)

Eagle:1

Awesome TR.

Hmm... I think you may have messed up that TR a bit. (-gasp-) I hope you're not getting old, because you forgot a few key points...

Your marathon on Spacely's was originally with Nick, but the others joined after the train returned. Additionally, you failed to mention how I was able to stand on my knees and act like one of the youngin's. Sadly, all the kids seem to be homophobic, taking one-per car. Adam and I had no homophobic fears and took Spacely's head on. (though, actually, Adam didn't quite conquer it because of his motion sickness)..
ANYWAY, I think 20 minutes is an underestimate. At least 30 minutes of waiting, but well worth it for the back on the first ride of the day.

Somewhere in that mess we got stuck on Demon for a few minutes, in front of two snotty bad-mouthed 12-year olds, no less. They were easily subdued with some excellent burns, though.

Speaking of annoying kids, some fellers in front of us on RB dropped some coins (probably to amaze themselves of 0-G's). A quarter, a dime, and a penny. I saw the quarter just after the initial drop, but sadly my scrambles to fetch it failed, and it fell off on the curve nearest AE. We also heard the dime, but never saw it. The point is that I found the penny and picked it up when the ride finished only to discover shouts of "You stole my penny" right behind me. Of course it was a joke, but they found us when the park closed and demanded the penny back, which had fallen behind a garbage can back in line for RB. We gave them a new penny, and all was well (except for the two kids who lost their quarter/dime). That was somewhat amusing/strange. Oh, and there was a parachute alien that someone threw off of RB on the top of the lift, but we forgot to retrieve it..

You also missed to emphasize how great the last ride on Vu was--it had some problems and closed 5 minutes before closing, but opened again with 2 minutes to spare.. We rode amidst the sunset, the fireworks, and simply the great weather, it was probably the best ride I've had. Oh yea, and I managed to get the last ride of the night, while you failed to find a new seat, as I recall.

Anything that I missed, I just don't care about...

Oh, and to everyone else: Hi, I'm Mike B.

Damn, so Vu did reopen? We saw it breakdown while on Bull's lift...we stayed in SWT and got last dispatch on Bull (row 9 of course) anyways. Didn't want to get over there and see it closed and then not get on anything last dispatch, haha. Yeah yesterday was lot's of fun, crowds cleared out rather early, it was awesome seeing a convoy of busses leaving while waiting in SUF's station

Yea, it reopened at probably the last possible moment--we were exiting Demon, and just as I was saying "Yea, like Vu's gonna reopen with only 5 minutes left--" we saw the staff open the chain.

Talked to some other people, and it seems everyone thought it was closed for the night--a lot of people were disappointed that they didn't get the final ride. I say the staff is trying to play tricks.

Yes, you know how evil the guy who's name starts w/ B and ends with something that rhymes with tad is. (I got in trouble for using employees names in my last TR.)

I don't really understand why it wouldn't open again. It just miscaught. The train was rocking back and forth until it eventually stopped. The brakes do help you know. Then the crew had to push it just a little bit to get to the sensor. Stop the train, put it in the right place, and move the catch car to it's right place from the first tower. We have a winner, and it's open in 7 minutes after a test run. :D
