WARNING: This is a loooooooooooonnnnnngg trip report. There are more than 50 photos here. You might want to get a snack before reading. Unfortuneately none of the photos automatically resized. DIAL-UP BEWARE!!!!
Got up at like 8:45 and ate some breakfast before heading to the park. My brother and I got there at around 9:55. The Six Flags Party was going on. They had some song written for Marriott playing at the show. Bugs was also in the Uncle Sam costume:
Soon the Carousel Song started playing and the chains for Orleans Place were dropped. We started running like hell towards Iron Wolf but we got tired around ERC so we hit Batman instead.
Batman was awesome. Back row is incredible. The G-Forces are insane.
Yankee Clipper was actually running today and yes the sign is sort of ugly but it could have been worse:
Next we decided to be the first riders of Whirligig for 2006. We were the only 2 riders on it when we got to it. It was actually a great ride.
V2 didnt have a line so we decided to ride it and it was ok. Middle rows arent really fun.
THEN we decided to run to Wolf but saw it broken down so we rode Fiddler's instead. They cranked up the speed for us on this ride.
Next was Iron Wolf and it was still broken down. After waiting for 10 mins it re-opened. We were IW's FIRST passengers of 2006. Another great ride with almost no headbanging.
Some cool IW photos:
After IW we decided to ride American Eagle Red (yes, it was running today). After getting out of the tent I saw something i thought i would never see... AE WAS COMPLETELY REPAINTED!!!! It looked absolutely beautiful. Im glad AE is finally being fixed up.
The red side is MUCH smoother than blue. They actually were racing them today! ^This is a cool shot but its alittle blurry.
The blue side was looking good today too.
Sadly DejaVu is DEFINEATELY dead for awhile. There was a crane and everything there. The train wasnt even on the track.
Somewhat good news is that it has a new sign with 3D letters.
At 11:45 I went by the Demon sign to meet up with people but nobody showed up except for a small group that included Binks Drake and m_force_4_ever from Midwest Coaster Madness.
While waiting for people to come I watched the Justice League arrive. They came just as what I thought, parachute jump.
Also while waiting I got a ride on Demon. THE DEMON SONG WAS PLAYING!!!!! I got a middle row. Took a bunch of Demon photos.
One last Demon shot:
Next was V2 again in the front row. V2 is AWESOME in the front.
We went on Batman again in the back row with a reride which was great. (This is why I LOVE opening day.)
Here is some scenery outside Pictorium:
Now there's this... Makes me .
The sign was off and everything. Damn you SFOT.
Rode AE again on the blue side. MUCH more rickety but LOTS of airtime!
Next was my first ride on Viper in more than a year. I totally forgot how awesome this ride was! Binks got stapled.
Raging Bull was next and it's INCREDIBLE in the back row. Took lots of photos. They almost stapled me and mentioned they would staple ACErs.
One more Bull photo:
Next was Giant Drop and again I almost got stapled. (I have ways of how to not get stapled, ). Drop was incredible and I got a nice view of the park. Drop got new restraints and it looks like the cars were rehabbed.
Last was CONDOR since we had to leave. (It was starting to rain.) Condor is still a great ride.
Some other photos shot today:
(Me at the Demon sign)
Today was great dispite the weather and people trying to staple me on GD and RB. Something interesting was that they are now handing out these GIANT poster sized park maps that look awesome. Tornado is coming along good. Space Shuttle America is back. I met a few members from here and on Midwest Coaster Madness. The staff is MUCH friendlier and I think there was ALOT of Marriott atmosphere around today.
I will probably be there again tomorrow.

Somewhere in Florida a village is missing its idiot. He can be found in Washington D.C.
Thanks SO MUCH!!! for the pictures! I have been checking all day for someone who went to post pictures. I will definitely have to get one of those maps and the pictures of Eagle made me really happy.
Sounds like a great day for you!

Ricochet also has brand new paint, and it looks great for the design looking ugly. The walls in the Batman The Ride's tunnel seem to be painted again black. The railings also look painted even though they were that way last year.
The Pictorium show (Marvin) is going to open in June. They had the character Marvin the Marsian along with his dog in front of it. To me it looks like Shaggy's (full costume-not like during Fright Fest) and Scooby's area is in Mardi Gras. They had a 3D background that's green and blackish to take a picture I guess.
Also, it seems that they got rid of the recording music. They have the Great America Idol at that Mardi Gras stage. So, if you hate that stuff I'm guessing you are stuck with it. They also put up white signs around the park. I should have looked at them better. By the way, the Bungy ride is still there.
To me, it looks like Space Shuttle America is again showing the Space Shuttle America movie even though I didn't go on it. They brought back the Space Shuttle America sign outside the ride, and they painted one of the previous Space Shuttle America's trucks to army colors.
The Orbit lights are gone except for the lights around the circle. The middle lights of the ride are now long cyclinder things of blue and red. I don't know if they light up or not. Revolution and King Chaos were closed while SplashWater Falls seemed to be open (The waterfall was working.)
Logger's Run was not working while again I seen Roaring Rapids have it's waterfall on. Demon still retained it's logos, and the song as previously stated. As I have seen V2, Whizzer, and Superman Ultimate Flight were the most crowded rides in my opinion.
I was shocked to see how long SUF was. It was 1/2 down the signs the longest I seen it, and it's the first day.

Thanks for the info!! Since i wasn't there, i didn't get to pick up on all of the little changes. You're the best!

In the Giant Drop picture you can see how much better Ricochet looks to the right of it. It looked like the crane for D Vu' was lifting a motor up to the first tower. I can't believe they changed that sign, and I didn't even notice that. I want to see Orbit at night. It looked BAD last year at night considering the lights were different colors all over the place. This is so much easily to replace them. It has to be.
I also forgot to mention that there are a bunch of just characters walking around. There is a cowboy, a lady with red hair, and an umbrella in Southwest Territory. There is a hula hoop lady in Mardi Gras along with more just plain Jesters I would say. There seemed to be some "Greasers," but I don't know if they were just guests, or part of the actresses in the park. I saw Yosemite Sam in Southwest Territory also. My brother said he said he saw a green bird in the park.
Bugs Bunny waves to you when you come into the park. A lot of workers seem to wearing red jump suits now that say something about Hurricane Harbor. They look weird (jump suits) considering I associate Six Flags with blue. I really didn't get the East River Crawler person when he said the ride looks like a Lobster???

Maybe a brand new sign means that Deja Vu is expected to be open alot more this year, maybe this new motor we saw will be expected to keep the ride running alot more?
Stapling means when the ride op thinks you're an ACEr and pushes down REALLY HARD on your restraint. I think they only staple ACErs and people they dont like.
I will change the photos to links later today. Blame Imageshack.
Somewhere in Florida a village is missing its idiot. He can be found in Washington D.C.
Getting stapled means the ops push down on the restraint or lapbar so that it's really tight on you. I've stapled myself a couple of times. I almost got stapled on Giant Drop yesterday too, but thankfully the guy was being nice... I love the air on Drop, I didn't wanna get stapled.
^Now see when i get stapled on Giant Drop, I always feel like i got more airtime for some reason. It's like your even tighter in the vehicle so you have less room to resist gravity. I don't know, just a personal observation.
