SFGAm 6/24 HOT HOT HOT (really long)

Let us know how your day at the park was.

I went to the park with my dad on Tuesday, and it was a great day other than the heat. It was also cool because the last time my dad went to Great America was 1994!! Space Shuttle America was brand new when he went there last. He's never been Superman, V2, Eagle backwards, Giant Drop, Raging Bull, and Viper. He's never even seen the Southwest Territory. The temperature was horrible. It was 98 degrees, incredibly humid, and there wasn't a cloud to block the sun in the sky. The misters under the bridges and in the Cool Zone was great. Also the free cups of water were so refreshing. I was sweating the whole day!! THANK GOOD FOR THE WATER BECAUSE I WOUNLDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SURVIVE THE HEAT!!We got into the park at 9:45 and headed towards Batman. The front seat was a walk on because we beat the crowd. Then we went on V2 in the front row next, then we went on V2 again towards the back. We beat the crowds again!! The red side of Eagle was operating yet so we rode Backwards Blue. I took my first of the year on Giant Drop next. This ride is so fun! We took a ride on the best coaster in the park next, Raging Bull. Before we went to eat lunch, we rode Sky Trek Tower.Lunch was very nice. I had a Cousins sub, Mountain Dew, watermelon, red peppers, and Flamin Hot Cheetos. We brought it all from home and ate at the picnic tables behind the parking lot. We headed back to the park about 30 minutes later. When we got back in the park and headed straight to Superman. After Superman we took two rides on Viper. One thing that was good about Viper was that they had a ride op who stood at the door so the station didn't get hot and crowded. One thing that was bad was that the ride ops pushed the lap bar as far as it could go so I couldn't get that much airtime. We took another ride on Raging Bull next. After the ride I saw that the red side on Eagle was going, so we headed over there. We had two incredible rides in the front row on the Eagle forwards. We took our second ride on Giant Drop next, then a last ride on Raging Bull. We rode Viper again before we sat down and rested for 15 min. After our rest we went in line for Superman again. Then we saw that V2 had a short line, so we took a ride on that. After V2, we took anotther ride on the red side of Eagle in the front row. We were going to end the day with Raging Bull, but it broke down. So we ended it with another ride on Viper. (but this time the station was packed and really, really hot!).We were really hot, tired, and thirsty so we left the park at 8:30. Overall, we had a great day except for the heat. The lines were short other than Superman so that was good. 8/10 (I would've given the day a 10, but it was too hot out)BATMAN: THE RIDE - 1 ridewait: #1-walk on (front row)I had a great time because it was really fast and intense. That compact layout is great. However, my dad didn't like it because he said it strained his neck.7/10VERTICAL VELOCITY - 3 rideswait: #1-10 min (front row), #2-walk on, #3-15 min.I love this ride!!! The launch and breaks are awesome. My favorite is in the front because the front spike, but a love the back too because of the back spike.9/10AMERICAN EAGLE backwards - 1 ridewait: #1-walk onI don't know why but I don't think backwards is that fun. I usually don't go on it. I did today because my dad has never been on it, and red wasn't running yet.5/10GIANT DROP - 2 rideswait: #1-10 min, #2-10 min.I love freefall rides. The way up is really cool. Hanging at the top is really scary. And the drop is really fun. Just a great ride.8/10RAGING BULL - 3 rideswait: #1-40 min, #2-20 min, #3-15 min (back row)This is my favorite ride in the park and my second favorite ride overall (1st is Millennium Force). The airtime on the first drop is insane, espiecally in the back. It's so smooth with great airtime. I love the helix too.10/10SUPERMAN: ULTIMATE FLIGHT - 2 rideswait: #1-1 hr (back row), #2- 1 hr. (back row)This is a great ride. The drop is cool. And the turns at the end are nice too. But the pretzel loop is incredible!! Your stomach get all tied up and you don't know what's happening; it sooo cool. The pretzel loop alone makes it a great coaster, but I wish it was a little longer.9.5/10VIPER - 4 rideswait: #1-15 min (back row), #2-15 min, #3-walk on, #4-20 min. This is an awesome coaster!!! The airtime is the best. You're out of your seat on every hill. I got good air even though the ops squished the lap bar into my legs. It's a great ride & my favorite woodie.10/10AMERICAN EAGLE forwards - 3 rideswait: #1-15 min, #2-15 min, #3-walk on (front row everytime)Forwards is sooo much better than backwards!! I love the drop, the speed, the helix, the airtime, everything. I like the front row best. It's just a great ride.8.5/10
