CEDAR POINT June 19 - 22

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby coasterguy on June 22nd, 2003, 6:45 pm
--June 19--At about 9:30 AM I check the Top Thrill Dragster status page and see that it is scheduled to operate. So I get pretty excited! We head for Cedar Point at about noon. We arrive at the park at about 5:30 after the 5 hour drive and a few pit stops. Then we check in and we use our free Starlight tickets. Dragster was closed, and didn't open for the rest of the night, so I was a little dissappointed, so we went on Magnum. Magnum was awesome TONS of airtime. So then we headed towards Millennium Force. This ride is definalty one of the best steel coasters. The drop, speed, hills, and banked turns make this ride awesome. The drop is huge! The lift is actually pretty cool as well. As for the conflict between which is better Raging Bull or Millennium Force, I have to say Millennium Force. Then we headed over to Mantis. Mantis was also awesome except for the trims on the drop. I loved this ride with its banked turns, and exspecially the DIVE LOOP!! After that we went to Raptor. This also one of the best steel coasters I have been on!!! The helix at the end and the cobra roll were awesome. Then we had a night ride on Millennium Force which was also awesome. That was a last ride for the night. Then we went back to the hotel and watched Jackass.--June 20--Well first off I was a little mad that Top Thrill Draster was scheduled to be closed but was in for a pleasant surprise later. We head towards Millennium Force and this ride just gets better every time. Then went to Raptor and in Raptors line we noticed Top Thrill Dragster was testing and they let one go every mintute! So we head towards the 420ft scream machine. You can't image the size of this thing until you are standing right below it, the pictures give you no idea of the size and power of this thing. When we got to it the line already was from the entrance to the que to then station. It OPENED to the public a half an hour later!! We wait about 75 minutes becuase of 2, 15 minute breakdowns. Then we boarded it. This ride in unbelievable!! The speed of it is incredable. Millennium Force is a baby to atop this ride. It is unexplanable. All I can say in do what ever you have to do to ride it. Then went to Magum. Then wait 3 hour for Top Thrill Dragster. It would have only been 2 hours but there were 2, half hour breakdowns. then we did Corkscrew which was cool but not as good as Demon. We did Mean Streak which was good but trimmed to hell and NO airtime so we did go all the way back there again. Went back to Millennium Force, and Mantis. We also di Iron Dragon which was pretty cool actually, for a walk on. We ended our night at Millenium Force for a night ride.--June 21---The park was alot more crowed than the previous days. We went to Millenium Force and then got out hand stamped for freeway for Millenium Force and Mantis. Wicked Twister was closed the last two days, probably becuase they forgot they had it, because of the TTD's problems. Went on that twice and that is really cool!!! I would have to say it is tied with V2. it is cool go backwards up and spiral spike and then back down. We went on Disaster Transport which was my first bobsled. It was cool becuase it was dark and you had no idea were you were going. Then went to Mantis and Millennium those are two really cool rides!! Then went to Raptor which is awesome!! Must say better than Batman in my opinion. Then we on Millennium Force 2 last times and I must say I love this ride. Wildcat was a pretty cool ride for a kiddie ride and then finished out night with iron Dragon.Once my new scanner come in I will scan my on ride picture for Top Thrill Dragster. I went hads up both time!! The launch is so cool!!! I am trying to explain it when it is unexplainable. I had a great time and hopefully will go back this fall!!!

It's easy to decide that the Force is better than Bull, both are float air rides (minus Bull's first drop in back seat, thats ejector.) The first drop on Force in any seat is just as good as Bull's drop in back seat, and the 3 hills on Force provide twice as much air as Bull does (minus the first drop of Bull, again.) The raw speed is what really sets it ahead of Bull, though. Also, I'm glad you had better luck with Dragster than I did. I'm looking forward to going next year to ride it (and, more importantly, Magnum!)Strange, though, that you find Demon better than Corkscrew. Did you ride it in back seat? It's smoother than Demon (which is smooth except for entering the first corkscrew) and has a nice pop of air.Oh, and Disaster Transort is way better than Rolling Thunder, so you didn't miss much by not riding it when it was at Great America. DT is far smoother (RT would beat up your legs whenever entering brakes) and being in pitch black on the first part of the ride really is unnerving, knowing you're not secured to any track.

Thanks T_Biggs.I forgot to mention that I went on Demon Drop. Corkscrew is very short not saying Demon isn't short but I like the extra loop. Went front row becuase it was a walk on. The first drop was good in front but probably better in back. It is probably a tie. I guess I just had to give Great America some credit. :)

Nice TR. I like DEmon better than Corkscrew. Demon is longer, and it has good theming, and I think it is much more smoother.

They are basically the same ride except Corkscrew has a hill after the drop while Demon has a loop.

Lucky! Got to ride Dragster! Yeah, I agree with you that Raptor is without a doubt better than Batman in my opinion. And, I also think Millenium Force is better than Bull (I like Millenium's seats soooo much more than Bull's too). Sounds like you had a great time! I hope my uncle takes me again this summer!

Great TR! Glad you had a great time. I might get to head out to Cedar Point this year, and if I do I REALLY HOPE TTD is open. If not I'm sure I'll enjoy plenty of the other rides.

Not really much of a point in me posting a trip report since we went to the park together. TTD is my favorite roller coaster followed by Millenniunm Force. I liked Magnum alot but it would be much better if it was smoother. Still a great ride though. Raptor was awesome too. The park was a step above great america in every aspect except for food service.
My Top 5: 1)TTD, 2)Millennium Force, 3)Raptor, 4)Deja Vu, 5)Raging Bull
