SFGAm/HH 2 day Vacation

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby TwistedSTEEL666 on August 2nd, 2005, 3:00 pm
Wow! what a wonderful past 2 days it has been for me!

DAY 1: July 31st, 2005 SUNDAY
OK, to start us out, we left around 8:50 am, when we got close to Grand Ave. it was backed up for about half a mile, we did some shoulder driving to by pass most of the line...got into the parking lot at 12:00pm...

First ride of the day was Raging Bull...the line wasn't too bad, yet...
after RB, I headed over to Viper...it was a pretty good ride as I remember. It was getting hot, at least they had some garden hoses spraying water from the light posts. 8) Next, I decided to go do American Eagle, I did Blue first, then I got back in line and did Red, hardly no lines.
I saw Iron Wolf had about a 45 minute wait so I got in line for it. Good ride, and rough too...but hey that's IW for you.

Earlier in the day I saw that Deja Vu was open,(I wanted to go on, but the lines were horrid, looked like a 60+ minute wait! I decided to come back later for a ride on Vu) however it closed later on in the day, and I wanted to get on it...Next I decide to go check out Batman, it's line is out past the statue that guards the enterance of the ride, I'm thinking to myself, hell no with a line like that! So I decide to stop at Bayou Grill, i get myself the $7.99 meal deal with the coupon only found in a Season Pass holders coupon book, Chicken Strips, Fries and a medium drink. Not bad for $7.99, and it was good too! :D So when i finished eating I go back to Batman to see if the line died down a little, it's around 3:40pm.

When I get to Batman, i find that they have opend the Switchbacks and that MORE people have gotten in line! The sign says a 60 minute wait, it endend up being an hour and 15-20 minutes! So it's close to 5pm by the time I get off BTR...It seems that it got a bit rough, eh? I walked around for a little, came to Superman and saw it's line stretching to Condor, i'm thinking (I did this type of line in 2003, not again!) So I decided to come back to it later...I head for Raging Bull...I find that the Bull has all switchbacks open and it's a LONG wait before I get my front seat ride...it's about 7:30ish closer to 8ish by the time I get off RB...

I decide to return to SUF, and I end up waiting about an hour and a half for a ride on SUF! The line for the front was shorter then rows 2-8, so I went for front, another thing SUF broke down a couple times on the 31st, I saw people getting out of line, and thinking 'the closer we are to the station' My second night ride on SUF was done around 9:40pm...I wanted to take on RB one last time, however my mom called and told me there was no time, so I headed for Carousel Plaza Gifts and bought Six Flags-opoly! Awsome game idea!

a couple of other things: I wish I had gotten on Vu when it was open...
I wanted to ride V2! but it was closed all day...
It was really hot that day, i had to refill my new souviner bottle at least 4 or 5 times.
The worst lines belonged to, Raging Bull, Superman, and Batman...
I was wearing dark olive green chakie(sp?) shorts, and a black t-shirt that had a red background with skyscrapers in a Batman logo, with a loop and corkscrew over the logo, later on in the day I had on a different black t-shirt with the saying "Que Pasa?" written in bright green. same shorts...
I had a blue souviner bottle with me at all times...

We had a hotel 'Baymont Suites' booked for the night of Day 1, we walked to the hotel after day 1 was done. And decided to eat at the IHOP, it was a midnight dinner....

Next Day 2 at SFHH...

Cool, sounds like you had a great time. The line for the front of SUF is never shorter than the line for rows 2-8 though  . If it appears shorter on the stairs, remember that it will move 7 times slower, since you are waiting for 4 seats while the other line filters into 28 seats.

Day 2: August 1st, 2005 Monday

OK, Day 2 started with us getting our things together and preparing to check out of the hotel, we had breakfast over there, and headed to the park, we got there at 9pm...

I had on a white V2 t-shirt and the same shorts from day 1, I also had with me a towel and trunks for HH...so it's about 9:45 we're inside the park and I decide to go buy a fastlane, (they changed it from the holepunch system to the tear one off system, I guess it's easier for them).
10:00am comes, the park opens, Viper already had a out streched line, and we're here waiting in a line for HH, since I'm close to RB, I decide to go catch a ride on it, great way to start the day! It's now 10:40ish and I stop at the PB JR Coolbody store for some batteries for my camera.

I come back to the HH line to see my family is probley down by the enterance for HH, the line is already reaching all the way back, I wait in line for a while, and i'm thinking I'm not going to wait all the way back here! just to get to my family! I jump into the HH exit path and go find my family, yep there're right by the enterance of HH! Next thing I know I got a security guard, blabbling about line jumping and park policy! good thing he let it go because he said ''it's a waterpark...''

OK, in Hurricane Harbor, I decide to go check out the Wahoo Racers first...
no line so far, so I get a pretty good ride, I lost the race however. I then go and rent my tube and go on the lazy river, they didn't even let us go the entire river! So I go back to our seats right by Skull Mountain, I head back to Wahoo Racers, there's a line now. heck while up in line I overheard some lifeguard saying that someone got stuck in the ride...next I see a guard running up the line with a blue mat with a yellow stripe in the middle of it...so someone did get stuck! anyway that doesn't stop me from riding! I'm to busy watching Raging Bull from the line that I don't notice that i'm next for Wahoo! So I go on the far left yellow slide, jump and to my amazement, I win! plus I didn't get stuck!

Next I head over to the Bahama Mama and Bubba Tubba slides, I see that the green/blue slide is longer and looks more thrilling then the orange/purple slide, so I ride on the green/blue slide, I end up riding with my back turned to the slide, I couldn't see anything in the dark enclosed slide, until we got to the end, it was a fun ride! Next i headed over to the bodyslides, there was a line for them too...I have been on the blue bodyslide before, so I decided to try the purple one, holy sh*t! that purple slide is fast as hell! very sharp turns, and VERY steep drops, not to mention the final drop into the end of the ride! I had water up and all over me on that slide! Not to mention a little water up the nose! DANG!

I just about had enough of HH, and it was close to 2pm, so I decided to get 'covered' up and return my rental tube, and head back to GAm for a ride on Raging Bull, this time I had my fastlane with me! and boy did I need it! The line for RB was horrible! Fastlane for RB, however there was a short line even for fastlane! Hello, they call it fastlane for a reason! The fastlane wait wasn't too bad 5 to 10 minutes and I was on RB front row...up next AE:blue and AE: Red...almost walk-ons! Red wins this time and it won on Sunday too! I had to tell the ride op of AE:red if they would race the trains, because they weren't when I was up there, she said "I don't know" however, we endend up racing anyway, thanks! And they continued to race all day...

I decided to skip IW, and I headed to BTR, long line just like on Sunday, so I went to the fastlane enterance for BTR, got in pretty quick and was done with my ride in about 15 minutes...It was around 4pm...Next SUF...the line was long as well, however 60 minutes ended up being 60+ minutes...SUF never gets old, still as fun as I remember it in the past years/visits. Now it was going on 6pm, and we we're going to leave around 7pm...so I decide to use my last two fastlane rides on Raging Bull...both rides with fastlane roughly an hour. Nothing better then having two RB rides back to back to finish out a great 2 day SFGAm/SFHH vacation!

P.S. I stopped by Aunt Martha's Chicken Dinner resturant after my two back to back rides on RB, I end up walking and eating at the same time...
(you probley saw a guy in a white V2 t-shirt walking out of the park with a plate of food, eating) Aunt Martha's has some good food! :D

Ride tally for both days: AE:Red-2/ AE: Blue-2/ BTR: 2/ IW: 1/ RB: 6/ SUF:2/ Viper: 1/

Again V2 was closed all day... :x and Vu was closed for half the day...

That sounds like a bad time for me if it weren't for the fastlane passes. I wonder how many people from this board were there either one of those days (not me). I can't deal with V2 being down.

Great trip report! Sounds like a great time! Even though I only live a hour away I want to get a hotel room some weekend and make a no-driving weekend there. We have many times drove a hour there on Saturday left and drove a hour home and then woke up and did the same thing on Sunday and by the time noon hits on Sunday I was about ready to pass out!!
