Coaster Con and More! 6/19-6/27

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVu The Ride on June 27th, 2005, 7:22 pm
Let me start out by saying that I won't be mentioning too much of what I rode and stuff, because I really can't remember. It has been too long for me.

Sunday 6/19

Drove off to Lincolnshire to check-in for the ACE Coaster Con. Saw a few park regulars there  and was greeted by some very nice people. Drove out to SfGam next and parked in the bus lot area.(While the backlot was pretty busy with cars.) I went into the park to look for Nolan and found him real quick at Whizzer.

I basically rode a few rides here and there and it was really hot out. We eventually met up with David, Dan, and Colin(Coon). I basicallyhad no clue who the kid was until I remembered that he posted at Westcoaster. Small world I guess. So we rode AEB and waited for Batman to open. It was testing periodically and a girl from ACE came out because she was told to leave the line. She said that the train was lining up with the sensors or something and wouldn't enter the station. So the other train was being lift stopped while the other train wouldn't enter. We eventually rode row 1 after they re-opened.

At Batman, Colin said he was given 2 fastlanes from these kids.(Correct?) They each had 1 punch left in them. So we go to Superman with them and pass the growing Picnic Grove line  and we are followed by David and Dan who think they were going to get a ride. Yeah right. So we go to ride and it breaks down and then we see DejaVu stuck in the vertical position too. Fun! :D So we then went to the picnic grove and met up with Nolan. We(minus Dan and David) go in the food line and learn that they ran out of chicken fingers. So we got chicken legs instead. It was an ok meal(with meatballs and such) but I was told that it was supposed to be more of an appetizer meal. So we were greeted and we dashed for a few evening Whizzer rides before out ERT started.

ERT for Sunday night was slated for Batman, V2, Whirligig, and ERC.

We started at Batman where we stayed on for about 10 times and Colin and I left to go ride V2. We rode that 6 or 7 straight times without leaving the train.(But switched rows) and got tired of it. We also rode Whirligig twice and ERC once. After that we went over to ride Batman a few more times until we were told to get off. Man did everyone love Batman! What a fun start to Con.

Monday, June 20

Let me be the first to say, I was VERY tired even before this trip even started. Going 2-3 hours of sleep a night. So to make a long story, short, I slept in to the perfect time to make me miss all of Minday mornings ERT. :( It's actually kind of funny now. :D So I basically missed a 2 hour ERT on Raging Bull, Viper, and Giant Drop! Got to the park around 10:15 and was dropped off by my sister and found Nolan and Colin at Vu. I had to put my stuff in Nolan's car and then we went off and rode a bunch of rides.

At about 12:15, we arrived at Batman to get a good spot for the ACE Coaster Landmark ceremony. It was kind of cool as they had Batman trivia and Michelle Hoffman, Ron Sevart, and other ACE personalities spoke. Walter and Claude wanted to come, but they were "busy" as this is a busy month. :D Colin got some video and we were right in front of the podium during all of this. BTW, Batman was running empty cycles during some of the ceremony and they were also using the second entrance to the ride because of the ceremony.

Lunch at the Picnic Grove was next. They had tons of good food and we tried to get a good spot for some of the presentations. ACE personalities spoke and then Michelle Hoffman and John Curty also took the mic. They talked about the park and how they were proud to be a host park, etc. John Curty also held a Q&A and mentioned that he would tell as much as he COULD. The best question was basically about Ameri-Go-Round. And Curty answered that it was being scrapped and burned.(Or something like that.) 8) He was just kidding and eventually said that it was being relocated to a Six Flags park in 2006.(Not SfGam)

At the lunch, They also had a raffle for a behind the scenes tour of the Six Flags offices. I didn't win, but Colin did. He did, however give his winnings to Nolan where he was able to go on the tour. They also had a meet and greet game and they awarded cool six flags prizes to winners.

Next was time for the group picture in front of the Hometown Station. That went quick and we left Nolan(because he had the tour) and we rode a few flats and Demon and then went to go and see Circo Magnifico. The show was ok, but there were a lot of puns that Colin and I took the wrong way.

After the show, we met up with Nolan and went and caught Looney Toons: We Got The Beat! Wow! What a show. At least there was air conditioning.

I really don't remember what we did after that. Rode rides, etc.

The night ert was set for Raging Bull, Viper, Demon, and DejaVu.

We went to Viper first where we rode about 4 or 5 times without getting off. The crew was being very funny and we got to see them get the cow. After that, we went to Raging Bull where they had all 3 trains running and we were able to ride a bunch of times in many different rows on the same train. The crew was great too with the wave and the banana song. :) I also talked with some cool people. After that, we went to DejaVu to find absolutely no line and some great spieling. "The only operating DejaVu" and "The real Great America" among many great lines. We rode a few times and went over to Demon where we rode twice. But those rides were only after the ride closed due to a lift stop.(With no train.) They were sending empty trains but two rides were enough.

We headed back to Jeza for many more great rides to close the night.(We also didn't have to leave the train at all.) Only 1 Acer had to ruin the night though complaining that Vu was closed for half of the ERT.(While it was only closed for about 10 minutes.) :? Anyways, a great time, with great ride ops.

Tuesday, June 21

After staying at DanHockey04's house Monday night, I received a ride from his brother to the park.

Let's just say a 45 minute trip took us an hour and a half.

Made it to the morning ert about a half hour late. ERT was slated for AE, IW, SSR, and Revy. Boy was this some ERT! I rode Revy twice, American Eagle(both sides) countless times, Spacelys once, and IW twice. Most people were watching the midway olympics while we rode!

Better yet, by the time opening neared, Nolan went over to HH for breakfast and Colin and I started the morning line for DejaVu! I also saw Zach and Ally waiting and they didn't look happy. 2 other Acers also got in line behind us so we got row 1a first dispatch. It was running great!

After that, Colin and I headed into HH to get some food! The line was horrible though! The line was fun though because Bugs and Lola came over and Lola started hitting on me. :? I thought she only wanted a high five, but NO, she wanted a hug and used her finger to lure me. Good times!

Food was good! Fresh fruit, danish's, and juice or bottled water. We sat at HH for awhile and then went back and met with Ally and Zach! And Ally got her danish. We just sat at Farmer's market for a little and then rode the Great America Raceway! Then we rode just about all the coasters and many flats throughout the day. We also saw the Imax show which was pretty good. But I fell asleep more than once. :( (But it wasnt boring  )

We also rode the train which I also fell asleep on. And woke up after a sudden jolt. In the evening, we rode Whizzer and HTFM a few times and saw Jumpin Jammin Jubilee. Then Whizzer again(and Batman) and then we went to Superman to start ERT. Superman, Whizzer, Cajun, Jester, and BEB were set for ERT. Superman was empty and we rode that a few times. We rode BEB and Jesters each once which were fun for night rides. We rode Whizzer the most and I received my most embarassing theme park moment ever. There was an empty row and I hopped through the airgates as they were asking for someone. But then they re-opened the air gates as I was walking a little quick to my seat. Ouch! lol Clipped me! Everyone kind of freaked cause you could hear a thump and it looked as if I was clipped in the nuts. :( But it was all worth it for the Whizzer! (BTW, many ACERs love Whizzer or so it appeared.

Colin and I also rode Cajun(which had a breakdown for most of the ERT.) It was a GREAT night ride. Also, a great way to end all of the SfGam night erts. Nolan stayed at Whizzer all night. I got a ride to Zach's house from Nolan. I was acting very weird, or so they claim. :?

BTW, props to SfGam for adding the third train for Whizzer in the evening. It was obvious that it was especially for ACE's Ert because the line was already dwindling when it was added. It wasn't necesary for me, but it made the park look better to ACE.

Wednesday, June 22

Stayed at Zach's place on Tuesday night and received a ride from Nolan on this morning. Morning ERT was set for Superman, Whizzer, Rue Le Dodge and Condor(Which obviously didn't run.) We started with Whizzer which ran 2 trains for morning ERT. I rode for quite a few runs and then left to go ride Rue Le Dodge. Colin and I rode Rue Le Dodge for a few cycles without getting off. That included 2 where it was just us. Great Times! lol

Then we went to get some breakfast by Superman. They had danish's, juice, water, and powerade. It was filling.

So after that, we went straight to Superman. We rode a couple times and I asked the one girl to say my spiel.(I told her it the night before.) She did and everyone cheered afterwards! :) Well, I guess it was good luck because while exiting the pretzel loop, I noticed that the other train would not advance into the station! So yeah, we were stuck at the breaks right after the inline twist and boy does that thing shake after the abrupt stop! We were stuck for over 20 minutes and eventually got exit passes. After a couple more Superman rides, we went back to Rue Le Dodge where there were a lot more people there. There was even one car that spun freely by itself! The ghost bumper car!

Next we headed to Whizzer for a couple more rides and it broke down. We rode a couple times and then headed for Vu for first ride. Got there kind of slow and I only got 8b first dispatch. Still running great though! Then we rode Demon and Viper before heading out to get our stuff from the cars for HH. We got back in and went to HH just as it was about to open. We got our locker and went to the purple family slide which was fun, but way too short. Then we went to Wahoo Racers and then Hurricane Mountain. Next was Skull Island which I way too cool! The best play structure that I have ever seen and experienced. Too bad it isn't all running perfect yet. :? Soon though.

After Skull Island, we went to lunch and got ckicken strips with waffle fries. Yum! Then Dan(yeah we met up with him), Colin and I went to Castaway Creek where they got wet, not me. Nolan met up with Colin while Dan and I went on the speed slides and then we met with Zach and we left to go back into the theme park. We rode a bunch of stuff without waiting long and eventually made it near mardi gras where an abc weather man was giving free guesses at the amazing alfreduex. I also saw some Pr people too. Then we rode Batman and Colin, nolan and I left. Nolan dropped us off at the Hampton Inn where we met my dad. I changed and we were then dropped off at the Lincolnshire for the banquet.
