09-03-04 Most fun I've had at the park in a long time

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby RedOne3781 on September 4th, 2004, 4:50 pm
After a late start, bad traffic, and a slight detour to see my grandparents for a minute, my friend and I got to the park around 6 or so.
The park was a lot more crowded that I had remembered it being on previous CME nights. But it wasn't as bad as a regular day by any means.

First I got on the Whizzer. Each season I make it a point to go on everything at least once. So, I can now mark the Whizzer off my list.
It is a fun little coaster. My friend was freaking out because of how old it looks and the noises it makes. I tried explaining that it IS old, and that I am sure the noises are normal, or else it wouldn't be opened..lol.

Next we headed over to Giant Drop. I really do NOT like that ride. I was forced into going on it. He begged, I felt bad, and went. I was okay until about 3/4th of the way up. Then I was not happy. Apparently people on the ground were laughing at me when I got down...lol. We were facing outward, toward the Riccochet (sp?), a lot of people saw me make a fool of myself by screaming like a baby.

After that we headed over to the chicken place to meet up with my mom and her boyfriend's son for dinner. In my opinion the food there is gross and over priced. Never eating there again.

We seperated from my mom and the kid and headed over to Demon. My fist time on it this season, I believe. Not sure though. I forgot how much I like that coaster. This is the first time I went on it and didn't get a headache though.

Next, it was over to Iron Wolf. Rode that twice. Once towards the middle of the train, and then in the last row. Reaffirmed my belief that the last row is the only place to ride it. Great ride.

I still haven't been on Ragin' Cajun, so we headed over there. Naturally, it was closed. On the way there my friend tried talking me into riding V2. I said HELL NO. Then he tried talking me into going on King Chaos. See, I went on a ride like that once, got a horrible nose bleed, and decided to never do it again. And I actually held my ground and refused. He pouted, I didn't care...lol.

Walked over to Batman. Only like a 5 minute wait. Blacked out for the first time ever on that ride. My cousin had tried to convince me that people black out on it before. I called her crazy. Turns out she was right. Still a lot of fun.

THEN, I was FORCED to go on V2. So much for the HELL NO. See, I feel quilty really really easily. And recently I did something that I now feel bad about. SO, he begged me to go on it with him, and I did. Now, it wasn't as bad as the first time I went on it. Maybe because I knew what to expect. It still isn't something I could see myself riding over and over again. I don't think my heart could take it...lol.

After that we met back up with my mom. My friend and the kid went on V2. Then my mom and my friend went on King Chaos. My mother swears it's great. I don't know...Maybe eventually I will get on it. But for now I am just fine watching the people I know go on it and turn beet red as they are held with their faces towards the ground.

The kid wanted to go on Batman after that, so my friend went on it with him, and my mom and I went on East River Crawler. We both like that ride and haven't been on it for a while. It was fun. Seemed a lot faster than I remembered.

When we got off, we were told by my friend that the kid got sick on Batman. Nose bleed, puking, etc. And that he was taken to First Aid. So a big chunk of time was wasted as my mom went behind and fence she wasn't supposed to. Got lost where she had no business going. An employee took us back there. It was interesting.

My mom wanted to go on Revolution, but the kid was still sick, so I sat that one out while my mom and my friend went on it. My mom hated it. Make her feel sick. All I could say to her was "I told you so" because I KNEW it would make her sick.

At that point it was 10 minutes til park closing, so we headed over to Viper to end the night. The line in the station was pretty long. About 20 minutes or so. By the time we got off the ride it was already 11:30 and the park was closed. Great ride to end the night, in my opinion. I now think that I like the Viper a lot more than AE. It just seems a lot more exciting.

Well, that's it! Finally a fairly drama free trip to the park for me.

Ride count recap:
Whizzer 1
Giant Drop (which I regret) 1
Demon 1
V2 (against my will) 1
Iron Wolf 2
Batman 1
East River Crawler 1
Viper 1

Not bad for 5 hours.

Next trip: Probably Fright Fest.

I assume DejaVu was closed. Was I correct? Also, what were some of the wait times and some of the other rides that were closed?

Actually the sign at the entrance said that Deja Vu was closed when we got there, but surprisingly later on that night it opened. For how long, I am not sure. I don't pay much attention to that ride. My friend noticed it was opened, and I just kinda said "yeah, that's nice" and walked right past it..lol. The longest wait times that I encountered were for the Viper at the end of the night. It was probably around a 20 - 30 minute wait, in the station.
Then the Whizzer, at the beginning of the night, also around 20 minutes.
Around 6:30 or so (not sure exactly - didn't look at the time) Raging Bull had a nice size wait. However, they only had half of the queue opened up. Which probably made it look longer than it was. I only noticed that because I was looking for people I knew at the time. Then I saw the size of the line and gave up.

I was kind of surprised at how crowded it was. I haven't gone to the CME night in about 4 years or so. The last time I went I was able to walk right on everything. I mean this time some rides (Batman, Iron Wolf and King Chaos) were walk ons. But it just seemed more crowded than I remembered in the past.

But hey, a 10 minute wait or so really isn't that bad compared to when it's open to the public.

EDITED TO ADD: As far as other rides that were closed. I am not positive but I think besides Ragin Cajun, Ice Mountain Splash was the only other ride that was closed. I don't know, though, because I didn't really pay attention. I went to the park knowing (for the most part) what I wanted to go on and really only paid attention to that.

Saturday it closed around 3:30 and let the people in line ride, then after it was closed Raging Bull added the third train with a few of the Vu people over there.
