Long: Geauga Lake and Cedar Point 8/19-8/21

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on August 22nd, 2004, 7:02 pm
Day 1: Geauga Lake - Can you say walk ons? & I'm addicted to Dominator

Wow, today was truly awesome. EVERYTHING was a walk on. We got there at about 11:25 when it was drizzling. Got into the park - might I say, very empty parking lot. I was really looking forward to the day. I headed over to Dominator after being so eager to ride it the day before.

Walk on for front row! Okay, awesome ride, but the rain kind of ruined it. 10/10. I got right back on in back row. Again in front row because the rain had let up. Well, as the ride started, the rain started up again and came down even harder. I regretted that front row ride LOL. I went on it two more times in the back.

Then I went on Texas Twister. Awesome ride, better than KC. 7.5/10. After that was Thunderhawk. Went in back row, awesome ride. Not as rough as I thought it would be. 8/10 I got right back on in the front. Next was Steel Venom. I got three rides on that, all in the front row. Just as awesome as V2. 10/10

After that, I went on X-Flight in front row. This ride is insane, I love it. One of the best parts was the vertical loop. :) 10/10. I decided to get back on. I was waiting in the station, about the get on, but the train was having technical difficulties. I waited there for 5-10 minutes, at one point I was the only one in the station. They had been working on the other train on the other side of the station, and after about 10 minutes since it broke down, they let me on that train since they were done working on it. I went in back row, great ride.

Next was Head Spin. I got on in front row. Great ride, and a bit rough. 7/10. After that, I went on Double Loop in the back. Pretty good ride. 6.9/10. Then I went on Villain in back row. This ride has an awesome layout and good airtime, but it is ROUGH. I'd give it an 8 but it gets a 7.5/10 for roughness. Afterwards I decided to hop on Haybaler. Fun ride, 7/10.

I then went on Beaver Land Mine Ride. Wow, I wasn't expecting it to go through the circuit twice, lol. 6.5/10. I went on Raging Wolf Bobs in front row next. Pretty good ride, not as rough as I expected. 8/10. I got back on in back row, BIG mistake. It wasn't much rougher, but I got thrown to the side and my leg hit the lapbar really hard. That sucked.

We were gonna go eat, but my mom had to use the bathroom, so I hopped onto Dominator. Front row ride and no rain. I love the front on this ride. Then we got some lunch... After that it was time for X-Flight. Went on it once in back and once in front. Then I went on Steel Venom three times in front. Time for Head Spin again in front row. Nice ride...

Next was Dominator again. Got on in back row. The rain was coming down harder than earlier, and they said they might close the ride. I officially hate riding coasters in the rain, LOL. When I got off, the lightning started up. I figured they would close the ride, but I got back in line anyways. I ended up waiting a little over 30 minutes, being the only one in the station besides the ride ops. I got on in the back row once the rain let up. Got on again in back, and again in front.

I hopped onto Texas Twister, great ride. Went on Thunderhawk in front row. Next was Double Loop, front row. I got more airtime in front row, it was cool. I went on Villain next, avoided the back of the train and went in 4th row. Almost as rough as the back row, blah. I like this ride, but it's just so rough. I went on Steel Venom twice in front row. After that, I quickly rode X-Flight twice in front row.

It was now 20 after 7, so I ran over to Dominator to ride it until the park closed. I was hoping to get 5 more rides on it. Supposedly, they were closing the ride at 8:07. I got on it 5 times, all in front row, just before the clock struck 8. I went to see if I could get on once more. The train they just sent out, which was empty, was supposedly the last train of the night. But this one ride op, who called me the #1 rider on Dominator of the day, decided to be nice and sent out one more train just for me. Front row again, such an awesome ride. :D

I had another ride on X-Flight sometime during the day, but I can't remember when.

Ride Totals: Dominator - 16, X-Flight - 7, Steel Venom - 8, Thunderhawk - 3, Head Spin - 2, Raging Wolf Bobs - 2, Villain - 2, Double Loop - 2, Texas Twister - 2, Beaver Land Mine Ride - 1, Haybaler - 1... Total - 46

Big Dipper was closed basically all day because of the rain. :( Oh well. The rain was on and off a lot. This day was my best experience at any amusement park. I've never experienced walk on after walk on all day, until now. Overall... 9.5/10. I think I spent too much time on Dominator , I was addicted.

Day 2: Cedar Point - Rain, rain, go away

Got into the park at about 11:45. I got in line for Raptor first. 20 minute wait with a few switchbacks open and 3 trains running. Awesome ride, I'm a sucker for inverts. I saw TTD rollback twice while I was in line for Raptor, so I headed over there. After 15 minutes of waiting in the rain and witnessing 2 more rollbacks, I hopped onto Corkscrew. Nice ride.

Next was Power Tower. Walk on for both sides. Then I went on Iron Dragon in 7:1. After that, I got in line for Mantis. 35 minutes later they took one of the 2 trains off the track, blah. So about a 45 minute wait for back row.

Millennium Force was next. One hour wait for back row. AWESOME RIDE! A lot better than I remember. I don't remember getting that much airtime on the first drop. After that we had some lunch.

Next, I went on Mean Streak. Walk on for second to last row. Great ride... To get my coaster count up, I went on Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Neat little ride 6.5/10. Afterwards, I prepared for a soaking ride on Magnum. Had a really awesome ride in 6:2! The rain made it more exciting, lol. I got right back on. Another great ride.

I started to get worried because my dad was sick of the rain, tired, and didn't feel too well. He wanted to leave, my mom sort of agreed with him. Well I went on Power Tower next. Then I headed over to Wicked Twister. Walked on it 3 times in a row. Hopped onto Chaos after that, great ride. I was gonna go on Blue Streak next, but Raptor had a walk on, so I went on that twice.

Rode Blue Streak twice after that, Seemed rougher than I remember, but still a great ride. Went on Iron Dragon in 2nd row. Mantis had a walk on as well, so I went on that twice, once in back and once in front. Front row is awesome, good thing the rain wasn't bad. I seriously wasn't expecting all these walk-ons after I waited in those long lines earlier! After that, I rode MF 3 times in a row, each with a 20 minute wait. AWESOME ride.

The rain had stopped by about 8, before my second ride on MF that evening. I saw that TTD was testing, and I saw it rollback once or twice. I ran over there. 15 minutes and one rollback later, it opened! It was now 9. I went on in row 5:1 10 minutes later. Really awesome ride.

I really wanted to get back on, but the line was probably up to 30 minutes long (longest line I saw since 3 o'clock lol), and I wented to get some other night rides. I went on Raptor 3 times and Wicked Twister twice to end the night, all within one half hour.

Great day, very awesome. Crowds were lighter than I expected. The rain was on and off. It never poured, so that was good. Rides such as Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Gemini, and a few others were closed all/most of the day because of weather conditions.

Ride Totals: Top Thrill Dragster - 1, Millennium Force - 4, Magnum XL-200 - 2, Raptor - 6, Mantis - 3, Wicked Twister - 5, Iron Dragon - 2, Mean Streak - 1, Blue Streak - 2, Power Tower - 3, Corkscrew - 1, Cedar Creek Mine Ride - 1, Chaos - 1... Total - 32

Day 3: Cedar Point - I Hate Saturdays

Got into the park at 12:30 because there were a lot of people trying to get in. I got a Freeway stamp for Raptor and walked to TTD. One hour wait. Ahh, I love being a single rider, I got to get on a few rides early. Great ride.

I got in the full queue for Gemini. 30 minute wait for blue back row. Nice rough ride. Went on Magnum next. 30-40 minute wait. Great ride. Then I had a quick lunch.

After that, I got in the long line for Mantis. Blah, 1 1/2 hour wait. This has got the be the loudest B&M I've ever heard .

I got in line for Dragster next. 1 hour & 20 minute wait. It rolled back once while I was in line, and a bunch of people got out of the line thinking "Is it supposed to do that? No way am I riding this." It was about 7:30 when I got off. I went to check out MF's line, said it would be about 2 hours. I went back to TTD, and now the queue was full, and the sign also said it would be approx. 2 hours. I just decided to go on Power Tower. 15 minute wait for red.

TTD's line was a few switchbacks shorter, so I decided to get in line. I was worried I wouldn't get off in time before 10 so I could use my Raptor Freeway stamp. 1 hour & 30 minute wait. Once again, I love being a single rider. :D Awesome night ride, still my most favorite coaster.

I got off at 9:50, just in time to run to Raptor. 7 minute wait for row 7. Awesome night ride.

We stayed inside the park for a little bit and finally left at about 10:45. Pretty good day, but it could've been better.

Ride Totals: TTD - 3, Magnum - 1, Raptor - 1, Mantis - 1, Gemini - 1, Power Tower - 1... Total - 8

Very awesome trip. Perfect way to end the summer vacation. :)

They sent another train out on Dominator, just for you? Talk about service. I can't think of many othe parks that would do that for anyone. Nice trip report!

Glad you had a great trip DejaVuGurl! That part about sending another train out just for you shows that the park is trying to please their guests, and trying to make a turnaround. It looks like it is a great park, with great rides!

Awesome pictures! Man, Geauga Lake was really busy. Why did you lie to us about the crowds? I only wish everyday was like that at Great America.(Just if money was still racking in.)
