Paramount Canada's Wonderland 7/29

Let us know how your day at the park was.

I just got back from Toronto and it was a nice trip all around. Got to see some pro tennis, the Niagra Falls, the AC Roma soccer team, and Lil Jon stayed in our hotel, though I never saw him :x. Anyway, the amusement park...
We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and I was mad to see that rides were running, with people on them. Later I found that all the season pass holders get to ride rides before the park opens. My brother and I went the the Grand Exposition of 1890 area first which hadnt opened it yet. As soon as it did we walked to Mighty Canadian Minebuster, and got in the front seat line for about a 7 minute wait. This was my 50th coaster and it didnt dissapoint, it proved to be the best coaster in the park.
MCM is basically a out and back woodie with a tunneled helix finnisher. One thing really cool about the tunnel was outside the entrance of the tunnel was this hat rack with about 40 hats, obviously lost during the ride.
We then went straight across the path to Skyrider, the TOGO, King Cobra copy stand up. I never had the chance to ride King Cobra, so this was something new. This really wasnt a bad ride except for the ridiculous wait on the brake run and the the restraints that dug into my ribs (I have a few more ribs than the average person).
We walked down the midway past the huge Splashworks line, we never went to waterpark. We tried to ride Vortex, the Top Gun (PKI) replica but it was closed. It never opened and was the only coaster I didnt get to ride that day. So we rode Thunder Run instead.
Thunder Run is a lauched kiddie coaster, and most of it was inside Wonder Mountain. This ride was suprisingly not bad, except you slid around in the car. Next up was the Bat, a Vekoma Boomerang with about a 20 minute wait. Again about a par ride.
After that we went over to the wilcat woodie, Wild Beast. We opted to ride in the backseat and it was crazy. It got some good airtime but really got thrown around. Probably the second best ride in the park. After that we rode Dragon Fyre, which is a lot like Demon except it has counterclockwise corkscrews. Not even close to Demon, with ride was pretty bad. After that we ate at Pizza Pizza, pretty good pizza. We decided to take a break and watched the Magic of The Movies Live show. It was okay, but the comedy was incredibly cheesy.
Next up was Top Gun, the Vekoma SLC. I didnt have very high expectations considering all of the complaints I have heard about this ride. We wait a hour and a half! But, it did break down while we were in the line. I actually really like this coaster especially the good foot choppers. Then we checked out Tomb Raider's line and it was about a hour and a half, we decided not to ride.
I thought it was time to get the kiddie coasters out of the way for the track record. We rode Silver Streak, a Runaway Reptar clone. Again not bad but it was a 25 minute wait, which sucked the life out of me. Then I rode Scoobys Ghoster Coaster, with about a 15 minute wait. This ride is a clone of Beastie, and of course it was a really good ride.
After that we went through the park to the Fly, a Mack wild mouse. About a 25 minute wait, which was shortened by my brother and I talking to a Canadian lady about various things. The Fly was one of the best rides in the park and was a considerably smooth wild mouse.
Only one ride left in the park to ride and that was the brand new Zamperela (sp?) Flying Coaster, Tomb Radier:The Ride. The wait was about a hour. This ride wasnt great and I sorta came out of my seat when we went through the inline twists. After that we left the park, a pretty good day.
Paramount Canada's Wonderland is a decent park but thats all. All the rides are pretty much par, and nothing above that. This park badly needs atleast 2 world class coasters to put it on the map. And not so many low capacity rides would be nice. But I'm not mad, 11 coasters in one day, is fine with me. Comments please...

I was just there myself, all I have to add are most of the flats there are great, real point of going there if you ask me (most of the coasters are medirocre, Vortex is the best thing there, and recently it's been having issues).

And more importantly, Yes, Tim Hortons does indeed rule, love the soup there, and the sandwiches kick ass also. Still cant get over the silver platter for eat in.

Is the Scooy Doo ride a gut-wrencher (Hopfully you know what I mean by that), or just something like the Am E? PTC rollercoasters interest me more than ever because my number one woodie is one.

This is where quality is better than quantity. Eleven coasters should be enough for a park, but when some of them are bad, it doesn't seem to count for much. Yes we are lucky to have 13 **cough 12 cough**, but eleven is more than enough. Thanks for the trip report.

Scooby Doo, is a copy of BeastIE like I said in the TR. Its a ACE classic and only about 25 feet tall. Its the one of the best kiddies I have ridden though.
