6-8-04: Last demon ride EVER

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Aero737 on June 9th, 2004, 3:29 pm
Well, I got back last night and I was too lazy to type up a trip report then and I had work this morning so you all are getting mine now.

Tom Crean - Traitor, I, and one of our friends were supposed to go, but our friend couldn’t make it so it was just the two of us. We left around 830 and got on I88. It was clear sailing until we got around 294. 294 was backed up from the 88 feeder ramp until willow road (past the Touhy toll plaza) which was over 15 miles. It took us just over an hour to make it past that. I don’t know what was causing the backup as there were no lane closures or accidents.

We got to the park around 1030ish and the parking lot was somewhat full. We walked through the season pass entrance (all other ones had long lines) and headed straight towards Ragun’ Cajun. On our way we saw they were filming at the park…where-I don’t know.

Ragun’ Cajun was not open but we decided to wait it out. We ended up waiting about 2 hours for it to finally open around 1230. Good ride, a lot like Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom. One thing we noticed was that some of the cars wouldn’t spin on certain runs. Ours did though and we were spinning hella fast.

Now the rest of this trip report won’t be in order as I forgot what order we rode everything in.

V2- We got 3 rides on this today. All were great and all were in the back row. A lot of squished bugs on the back car. If it was my coaster, I would have that thing polished and shiny every 30 min. SLOW ride crew. We hung out for 30 min in the station waiting for the lightning to pass. Good chance to check out the forums via a WAP enabled cell phone.

Iron Wolf- We got one ride in the middle around the time that the second thunderstorm was approaching. The wanted to shut down the ride but we were on the station brake run. So we sat there for 3-5 min while the waited to know if they could shut down the ride. They didn’t stop operation. Not too rough. We walked on.

American Eagle- Got one of the first rides on the blue side when the opened it up around 1:00. Running horrible compared to my last ride. Line was to the VR arcade before they ran Blue.

DeJaVu- Got one good ride on it. Line was about 30 some min. I love having a grouper-It makes the wait seem shorter. We got row 1b. While we were on it-the ride misparked and we got stuck for 5 min.

Demon- Here is where it gets interesting. I will never ride this ride again (or so I hope). I’m just to damned tall for it. Back row my restraint only went down 1 click before it was pressing down on my shoulders. Well, I pulled it down 1 more click just to be safe. Ouch it was hurting. Also my knees were smashed into the seatback in front of me. Well the ride started and at the bottom of the 1st drop. CLICK. My restraint clicked down 2-3 more clicks. I was in agony. Never before have I ever wanted off a ride so much. Never again. My shoulders are still sore.

Raging Bull- Got two rides. Both times it broke down. Once where one train was on the blocks and one was on the lift. The ride op had to climb it in the lightning and rain. The other time they had a bad proximity fuse in the red train and switched it off. Even though crowds were light-they put it back on.

Viper- Two rides. Kinda slow despite it being so hot. Onride photo booth is in a bad spot. Everyone stops and there is a huge backup for the people who don’t want to see the photo.

S:UF- Last ride of the night. Okay I guess. Bad mosquito problem. But that is everywhere I guess.

Whizzer- Cool ride ops. Good night ride. As with all coasters past 7ish-no lines at all.

Batman- WOW! This ride was HAULING! I blacked out in the 1st loop, which never happens, and my feet were tingly. This is an amazing ride. So perfectly engineered. Tunnel was unbearable. Stagnant air and high humidity combined with 90 degree temps and a lot of crowded people made for horrible conditions. I wanted out of there so bad.

Roaring Rapid- My first ride ever on this. Really fun but I gets you soaked. I didn’t want to be soaked.

Loggers Run- First ride on this ever too. The double down is kinda fun. I like the themeing of the evergreen trees and creek in the line. Definatly my favorite themed queue.

All in all it was a good day. The lightning show on the way home was cool. Almost turned into a storm chase . Other than the crowdes early and the high heat it would of been a perfect day.

I fully agree, They really need to widen the path or something, I had to stand there waiting like 2 minutes the other day because all these people wanted to see there picture, I am one who just doesnt care.

I also agree about the Tunnel on batman, Its been horrible lately, They need to get some air in that thing, and honestly, I dont mind it, but ive heard others complaining about the lighting in there and they should add another light, Its to dark in there. I was going up the stairs, turned and ran into a garbage can since it was painted fully black :P

The thing is, they do have air conditioning in that tunnel. When they choose to turn it on is another story.

Aero. I am tall myself and you should know by now that you sit in the front row of any car on Demon. Sitting in the rear row is torture on the legs.

Never had a problem with the OTSR's on Demon before. I would give it another chance. It's still a good small scale Arrow looper in my opinion.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

...which does minimal to nothing considering it's only in like 1 or 2 spots and you can only feel it if your standing right under.

When I ride in the front row my legs hit the edge of the fiberglass car and it always cuts into my leg. And legroom was not the biggest problem-my shoulders were pressed into the OTSR's too hard. My upperbody I think is too tall.

If the Batman Tunnel was dark then most likely it's because the ride ops did not turn the lights on. I saw the same issues a few weeks ago. I told the ride op and they turned the lights on.

Also, there is A/C in the tunnel, but who knows if it works. I remember when it first opened that you could feel the rush of cold air coming from the tunnel. If there is no air in the tunnel I suggest that you bring your comments about it to Guest Relations. If people start complain they will do something about it.

The tunnel never bothers me as much as the stairs up to the station, those can get so crowded (and hot).

Yeah, the tunnel has room on either side, although that doesn't help so much for the smell it makes it a tiny bit cooler. In the stairs everyone gets confuzed and moves around alot, " Is this the front row?" "Am I in the right spot?" "Is that a camera?"
What you don't understand you can make mean anything.
