6-7-04 (Good day,but more mosquitos!)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Geno21K on June 8th, 2004, 10:24 am
It was another quality day at SfgAm. My sister and I arrived at the park around 11 a.m., and found carousel plaza fairly busy. We decided to make our usual loop around the park moving clockwise, starting in Orleans Place.

We hit S:UF first. Pretty long wait for this one, most of the switchbacks were in use. Waited around 1 hr for row 8. Awesome ride (her first time on). The G's on the pretzel knock the wind out of me every time.

B-TR was next. I expected a significant line, but we walked all the way under the awning and found that the only switchback in use was the long one that goes down and back before entering the storm drain. It's nasty how stuffy, and, during hot days, smelly that drain gets! Anyhow, the wait wound up being around 10-15 minutes for row 8. I don't know about anyone else, but I think that this ride is freaking flying this year. It's always been fast, but it seems even faster and more intense these days.

We found V2 to be a short wait also, so, since my sister had never been on it, we decided to give it a shot. Waited round 15-20 minutes for row 2. This was far and away the best and most enjoyable ride I've ever had on V2. Seeing the end of the track rapidly approaching up the front spike adds a whole new thrill to the ride.

Even though it's rough, we went for Iron Wolf next. Waited around 15 minutes for for 7. The ride was rough, with some head banging action from time to time, but it wasn't that bad.

We signed up for a flight time at DareDevilDive and got something to eat after that. How can you beat a foot long corn dog, honestly?

Deja Vu brought another first for my sister after that. We had to wait about 5 minutes to enter the line because of a mis-park, but once in, the wait for 8B was only about 40 minutes. What can I say? Vu has been and will continue to be one of my favorites, especially from the back. It was a tad rough on the forward pass, as it was carrying a ton of speed into the cobra roll, but it was well worth it.

Headed into SWT and took our first ride on Raging Bull after that. Waited around 35-40 minutes, which included a delay when a train was stuck on the mid-course brake run (had never seen that happen before). Rode in row 9, as always = great ride, as always!

Took our flight on DareDevilDive after that. It was cool. My only complaint is that they left us dangling for like 5 minutes before the next group of flyers came up, which meant that we dangled in the air spinning the whole time. I don't like spinning, and the platform was right in the sun, so they're lucky I don't give them a look at my corndog!

Decided to cool off with a couple of water rides after that, before the sun started to go down.

Waited around 15 minutes for Roaring Rapids. Great ride, but damn, that water is cold! We were both fairly soaked.

Seeing as how we were already very wet, we hit Logger's Run next. Again, only about 15 minutes of wait time. I was very surprised to see the op letting boats go out with only 1 or 2 people per log. My sister and I rode with her in front and me in the back, making for an even wetter ride than usual.

From there it was back into SWT for our first ride on Viper. The wait was maybe 20 minutes for row 4. Plenty of airtime and no lap-bar issues, so the ride was a rousing success.

Since Bull was just so close, we waited 30 minutes and took another ride in row 9. It was another great ride.

With Vu still running like a champ, we got back in line for another go. The wait was again only around 30-40 minutes for 8B. Just like the first time, plenty of speed going forward and one heck of an intense ride.

With time beginning to run out (8 p.m.), we hit my sister's favorite, Raging Bull, one last time, again in row 9. Fun, fun fun. Enough said.

It was around 8:35, so I took a couple of turns at the strong-man game to try to win something to bring home to my niece. I'm 6'2, 210lbs and I can bench press over 300lbs and I couldn't make that stupid thing go any higher than 97! Either I was hitting it in the wrong spot, or the fix was on!

Ten minutes later and $10 lighter we took a walk-on on B-TR. We literally walked into the station an onto row 8. How can you beat that? Another fast, disorienting ride. Awesome.

We weren't sure if we'd make it, but we got into line for S:UF at around two minutes till closing. The line began at the stairs. The scene with the mosquitos was something out of a horror movie. From the time we reached the stairs until the moment we rode the train we were being swarmed! They need to put out some Citronella or something. I hadn't been bitten once all day, and I came home looking as if I'd been rolling around in forest all day long! Oh well, we took a great ride in row 8 to end the night. That was my first night ride on S:UF, and it was pretty cool.

Well, that's my long, very drawn out TR. The only disappointment of the day was the fact that AE only ran backwards all day long, and neither my sister or I care for that at all. But nevertheless, the park was clean, the weather was great and the rides were as cool as ever. All in all, it was another great day at SfgAm.

I was there on Saturday in line for Raging Bull, they transfered a train onto the track and sent it out empty, it got stuck on top of the lift, and then once it got moving again it got stuck on the brake run before the picture. We had already been in line for like 50 minutes and decided to come back later.

Yeah batman is hauling this year, I actually blacked out for a split second, and so did my friend.

Good TR!

I think when people black out on Batman it isn't always because of the speed and intensity. For me It's during the 2nd loop. in my opinion the combination of the sun and the g-forces will make you lose vision for a second.

Yeah that is when it happened to me, but my eyes got really blurry and watery and my head felt like it was gonna explode, like the feeling on superman going through the pretzel

When the park is closing, do the ride ops block off the entrance to the coasters, so you know if you are in the line you'll make it? Or are you in the line, and then when 9pm hits, the park closes, so it doesn't matter if you are in the line or not. Just curious. Also, any news about King Chaos? Did you see anyone working on it?

The line closes at park closing, people in line at that time ride. Not much other to say.

It happened to me on the Revolution, Shock Wave, and the second tower of Deja Vu (rough part).
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

Yeah, on hot days I always gray out a lot. My suggestion if you don't want this is to drink lots of water, breathe really deeply when riding, and don't tense up (relax, let your body be loose). That always helps for me.
