Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Trip Report April 17,2004

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Galvan on April 18th, 2004, 8:15 pm
The day started in Joliet Illinois, 4AM with a great lightning show in the sky above my house. The Drive to Louisville was uneventful except the 25 or so hillbilly hick stations on the radio, but at least i got to listen to the Cubs game on the way to PKI so what was okay :). Reminder for those of you who plan on going to SFKK remember that theres a 1 Hour Time difference lol. anyway on to the Trip.

My friend Brian and I arrived at SFKK at 945am ET. The crowd was very very light and at 10AM we took to our first ride.

Thunder Run: Number of Rides: 1 Rating: 6/10 This was a great wooden coaster, Very fast outta the first drop and some great turns along the way. This ride is easily better then Viper in my opinion. Great Ride!

Twisted Twins: Number of Rides: 3 Rating: 6/10 This was a smaller coaster then Thunder Run, but it had its moments, Its a racing Coaster with not much in the way of theming but good none the less. First turn out of the Drop was a bit bumpy as where some other spots in there. Great ride none the less and 3 re-rides on Front row give you the idea of how packed the park was.

Greezed Lightnin': Number of Rides: 7 Rating: 9/10 GL was AWESOME! great launch and awesome air on the loop. I love This ride.A bit tight for the taller/bigger floks but i had no problems.

Chang: Number of Rides: 1 Rating: 8/10 My friend was too tall to ride this ride and i just made it into the harnesses. But this Ride Lived up to its Hype! Great Air and an amazing loop as well as decent themeing gives this ride a very high rating.

T2: Number of Rides: 6 Rating: 9/10 Chitown told me this ride really sucked, I disagree. This ride was off the chart awesome. I loved the eliments of this ride and the Headbanging was minor for me anyway.
Great Ride!!

Honorable Mentions:
Choas: Very cool ride: 6/10
Hellivator: Giant Drop Wannabe @ only 150ft.:3/10

Final Thoughts/Grade:

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom blows away Six Flags St. Louis hands down a great park that was worth the trip to KY.The weather was awesome Sunny and 84 degrees (lots of pretty girls there too :) )
Overall Grades:
Cleanliness of Park: 10/10
Ride Selection: 7/10
Ease Around Park: 5/10
Themeing: 7/10
Prices: 10/10 (Great Value on Food Admission was decent for my friend who doesnt have a Six Flags Season Pass)
Re-Rides: 9/10
Over-all: 8/10 Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom was well worth the 6 hour drive i really enjoyed this park. And recommend this park over SFSTL anyday!!

Great Trip Report Mike, you are the only person I have ever heard give rave reviews to T2.

Ive only had one SLC experience on what I have heard is one of the better SLC's at TPFKASFWOA and it was a cool ride. When I got off I wondered what was up with the SLC's bad reputation, and was told that I have to ride T2 as it is one of the worst SLC's around. But your review doesn't reflect that at all. Glad you enjoyed it, and had a better time at this park then you did at SFStl.!
Go Bulls!

T2 sucked horribly when I rode it in 2001. Why did you only ride Chang once, its a great coaster definitely deserved more then one ride especailly when you rode T2 six times.

What made it suck? I personally liked the ride. As for Chang, im not a big fan of Stand Up's so i got my ride once, then done. Oh well :)

I rode it 3 years ago so they may have posiblly done some amazing work to it, to make it less rough.

No they didn't. It's the same old jackhammering ride its always been.

The ride still sucks.

But it's cool that Galvan liked it.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I went to SFKK two weeks ago and I remember when I was younger riding T2 when it 1st came out 28 times in a row. I loved the ride so much. When I rode it this past time, I never felt so bad after riding a roller coaster. It ruined the rest of my day. I swear off that ride now, its just horrible.
