Friday 7/23/10 Worked to our Advantage!

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby TwistedSTEEL666 on July 26th, 2010, 9:52 am
Hello guys and gals. This is my SFGAm Trip Report for Friday July 23rd, 2010.

Well the day started out pretty well, me and my friend took the "Six Flags Express" bus #284 from Rosemont.
Me and my friend Erika wore the same red Blackhawks t-shirt, we called ourselves "The Red Team." There was also two girls who were wearing tie-dye blue t-shirts, we called them the "Tie-Dye Team."

We got to the park at about 10:15am-ish, it was a little rainy, but it wasn't much. They let us into the park soon after that. So the first thing we did was head directly towards the Pass Processing Center in Hometown Square so I could buy a Twicket. After I bought my Twicket and secured it away, we headed off to Raging Bull for my #46 ride. We got front seat on red train. A few times we tried posing for the on-ride photo on Bull, but it never seemed to work out the way we wanted! We just didn't think about a pose when it came to the on ride photo. We met this awesome dude, Allen at Raging Bull Photo right after that, he wanted the Raging Bull pin I was wearing so bad, and he offered us many deals at RB Photo in exchange for one of his Six Flags employee "Smoke Free Park" pins. I said, "No, I will not trade my Raging Bull pin, it's a good 10 years old!" We bought an on ride photo.

After our encounter at Raging Bull, we had another encounter at American Eagle: Blue. We were next to ride the front row on Eagle, and we were talking about the "Tie-Dye Team", when low and behold they show up right next to us! They were also next for the second row on Eagle. We rode the same train, and it was quite funny and joyful. After our ride on Eagle with the "Tie-Dye Team" , we headed off to Revolution which had no line. (This would be the first of many rides to come that had no line today.) Our ride on Revo was a ball, but we wanted more speed from the ride op, he just wouldn't give it to us no matter how hard we asked! Oh well, moving on.

We next headed towards Iron Wolf, however it was closed, so we headed to V2 next. We would return to Iron Wolf later. I was surprised when we got to V2 (Vertical Velocity). It had a 15 minute wait! Most roller coasters we rode that day had a 15 minute wait or less, or even no wait. It was awesome, I guess the threat of rain kept some people away and sent others home! Thank You, the weather worked to our advantage! :D So anyway, we got our ride on V2, front row. I'll tell you, it's not the same ole' V2 that I remember, I just wish they would put the holding brake back on the tower! It's not quite the same without it. After V2, we took a ride on Batman-front row. The wait for Batman wasn't too bad at all. In fact, I don't think we waited longer than 30 minutes on any ride that day. Batman was our first looping coaster of the day.

After our ride with Batman, we took a few pics around Gotham, and a few with the Batmobile. Then we headed off to Roaring Rapids to cool down from the 90* weather. I think it was around 1pm-ish. We definataly got more wet then we'd expected to, thanks to those red, white, and blue squirters. We were directly hit by them, TWICE! We were soaking wet! We needed to dry off a little, so we decided to get air-dried on Superman. By them time we got to Superman: Ultimate Flight, we were already dry!
We waited less than 25 minutes for Superman front row, the lines were not that bad. I gotta tell ya', Superman gives cramps out for free!

After our ride on Superman, we headed into the Cyber Cafe to cool off for a few minutes, and then made our way to Carousel Plaza Gifts to take a few pics, and then over to Viper. When we got to Viper, I was surprised again that it had NO line to speak of, and the station was practically empty! We were able to get 3 rides on it, one in back, which my friend didn't like, and then two in front, which she liked better than the whiplash-y back! We next took a backseat ride on Raging Bull, my #47 ride on the teal train. By now, it was mid afternoon, and I was again surprised that the switchbacks were closed, and that only red and teal were running. They didn't need yellow train all day. We once again rode Bull for a second time in a row for my 48th ride.

We saw our friend at the RB Photo allen again, and he once again offered us a photo deal in exchange for my RB pin and a "Buy one get one Free" photo deal. I said yes this time, and gave him my pin, and he gave me his employee "Smoke Free Park" pin, however he felt bad after that and gave me my pin back, the free RB photo, and let us keep his employee pin. My friend later wore the pin around, the employee pin.

After our rides on Bull, we took a quick ride on Giant Drop. The lines for GD were short and not there. Up 230 ft. Suspense, DROP...over, next! So now, we headed back into County Fair, to take a few rides on the Demon. We got 3 rides on the Demon in. After that we made a bee line directly for Iron Wolf, which was now open, and devoid of lines completely. The station was also barren. We waited one minute for front row on Iron Wolf. At this time, the ride op was telling my friend that she couldn't wear the "Smoke Free Park" pin, because it was an employee pin, and he made her take it off. I thought he was talking to me! :? I never knew how important that pin was until then. I hope Allen didn't get in trouble for giving us his pin. While we were going up the Wolf's lift hill, it started to rain lightly. We were now riding Wolfie in the rain, that was alot of fun! When we came back into the Wolf's station, I noticed that no one was waiting for the back row, so we took another ride on the same train, this time in the back row, and again in the rain. 8)

We had a bite to eat in Hometown Square's Papa Johns, and then went over to Mardi Gras.
After that, it was around 7:20pm and the rain started, and mostly all the rides were now closed because there was lightning in the area. We walked around for a little, we went over to were Sky Trek Tower was, and I asked if there would be a roller coaster for 2011 in the construction spot right were SSA use to be, the supervisor said that he didn't know. We headed back to Mardi Gras to catch the 7:45pm show of Looney Tunes Dance Off, however the show was canceled. We were sitting there in the rain for like 15 minutes! I heard at that time Batman testing, and then people on Batman screaming, so that must of meant that Batman and the rest of the coasters were open again! So we went over to Batman for a super quick ride in the front seat.

After all that happened with the rain and the lightning, we encountered less and less of a line! Next we hit up Superman again, it was going on 8:30 after our ride on Superman. We went over to Raging Bull for my 49th ride on it. After that it was 9:30, I would not have enough time to do my 50th ride on Bull, the line was a bit too long (25-30 minutes). So we went over to the one coaster I knew would have, a). NO lines and b). An empty station. and that coaster was the Demon, the Demon always has no lines and an empty station 20-30 minutes prior to the park closing! We were able to get 5 rides in a row on Demon, 2 in the back, and 3 in the front row without leaving the front row. Getting three rides in a row, in the front row without having to get up to allow the next person waiting for the front to ride. <THAT has never happened to me, it was always that someone would be waiting for my front row when I got back to the station, but alas nobody was there waiting for the front!

We had to get off Demon now, and make our way back to our bus #284. We left the Demon behind and made our way to the front of the park. It was just about 10pm now. I grabbed a few more park maps on the way out and we made on time for our bus, we were actually early, the bus wasn't there yet! It arrived at 10:20pm. We saw the "Tie-Dye Team" again, and we asked each other how our day went at the park, we all had alot of fun that day, despite the rain. However, the rain wasn't done for that day! A HUGE thunderstorm with massive, thick bolts of lightning, booming thunder, and torrential rains hit at about 11:30 when we got back to Rosemont. We had to run in the storm to get home. At least the storm came after SFGAm closed and not during our day.

Well, that was pretty much what happened that day. The switchbacks on all the coasters, even RB were never opened, the lines remained short or non-existant all day, and the rain held off pretty much the whole day.

NEXT TRIP: August 20th, or 21st, 2010

P.S. Did anybody see us there, this past Friday the 23rd? We were the "Blackhawks Red Team" we were wearing the same t-shirt.

We did take photos, but they were with our cell phones, I don't think I'll be able to get them off the phone right away, so I might not post them. Then again, I might.
