August 30th no one there

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Jackluver18 on August 31st, 2009, 12:01 am
So I got to the park around 10:15 and saw there weren't many people coming in like normal. So I went and got my pass and got on Sky Trek before going on Whizzer. Got on Whizzer front row even though I heard that it valleyed before i got there. After Whizzer was Viper front row, still a bit shakey as always. I noticed lines right away were about 15 or less. Next was Bull front row red train waited about 15 minutes as well for that. After Bull, I went and had lunch and then after lunch went on Superman after waiting a few minutes of course to digest. Superman's line was...hmm I don't remember I didn't get to take a good look at it but I'm sure it wasn't more then a half hour, I could be wrong. After Superman, I went back on Whizzer before I watched parade and then went on Demon at 3:30, and then took a little break before going to V2 which was a bit more of a wait for me but that's ok. Then I went on Eagle red, Blue was down for inspection even though it ran in the morning. Then I went on Batman and got a walk on, next was Bull again and again and again because it was down because someone had gotten sick and they closed the line so people had left the line and there wasn't a lot of people in line so I kept going into open seats. After Bull was Demon again 19 more times because I kid you not there was no one, I mean no one in Demon's line. Maybe 1 or 2 people and 3 people on the train. After Demon, I had enough because I had a horrible headache and I had to get ready to go home. All in all it was a great day, the longest line I saw was Eagle because of red side being open. This is probably my last trip to FF, I hope to go one day in September but we'll see.

While any coaster can valley, I have never heard of Whizzer vallying before. Do we have any more proof that it did happen, or was someone just spreading a rumor? Would be interesting to find out where on the ride it valleyed.

Whizzer vallies all the time especially if it is cold in the morning. There are anti-rollbacks on the top of the hills that pop up and they can walk up the stairs and push the train forward so it completes the circut.

What you described is not a valley. A valley is where a train settles at a low point of a ride where it is not easily recoverable. What happened at Whizzer was a slight rollback and the anti-rollbacks kicked in liked they are designed to do. An example of a valley at Whizzer would be if the train settled at the base of the first drop.

If a train were to valley on any coaster in the park (except one place on Demon) the ride would more than likely not open the same day. A lot of people on this site does not use the term valley correctly.

A valley and a rollback are the same thing really, Whizzer with its antirollbacks obviosly makes it a non issue. A ride like Ragin Cajun, which also valleys ocassionaly, can easily be pushed to the end of the circut even with no anti rollbacks and open the same day.

That is what it looks like when Whizzer "valleys", "has a rollback", stalls, or whatever else you want to call it. It is almost always in that spot. Depending on how far up it makes it, Maint will either just push it, or they will hook up the winch.

I agree that it does depend on each persons meaning of "valley". I have always taken valley to mean that the train was not able to make it up a hill, and it would then "roll back" down. Depending on the configuration of the ride, the train may then "valley" between two hills and rock back and forth until it comes to a stop.
