DCA Construction Update August 9

Let us know how your day at the park was.

Construction is in full swing in Paradise Pier, three attractions all under construction right next to eachother.

With the Ferris Wheel/California Screamin cosmetic changes complete, the Orange Stinger is next to go under the knife.

I'm sure everything will look great once the construction is completed, but I don't know if I would want to visit the park when it seems to be torn to pieces.

World of Color is going to be the new lagoon show right? Did they have one before?

No this is DCA's first lagoon show, Fantasmic has been running at Disneyland Park for 17 years though.

I believe that those are water jets and lights for the World of Color. It will all be under water when they fill the lake again.

Those are water cannons (the show has 1,200) and each one has its own LED lighting system. There are also 30ish flame-throwers, water whips that shoot water in all directions (similar to Braviseamo! at Disneysea Tokyo), and a 380 foot long water-mist projection. The technology going into this show is absolutely incredible and looks like it will set the new bar in terms of nighttime theme park entertainment. After construction is done in the bay its going to be re-filled with water and the platform can be raised above the water line to do maintenence at night.
