Seven-Two-Eight -- 7/28/09

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby [jonrev] on July 29th, 2009, 12:43 am
Short shift at work today, so I charged up the camera and headed out to the park. As usual, if you want a high-res pic with a "hidden" watermark (for a background or whatnot), PM me for a request.

LOL HI
Image

Did this once and listened to the usual piss and moaning of GPer's about the restraints.
Image
Image

Got a lap on Batman, the groupers throughout the park today were doing a great job keeping the stations in good order.

^This last pic will be the basis for a new SFGAmZone.com t-shirt I'm planning.

Hello Mr. Camera
Image

Hello Random Ball
Image

Couldn't do this with the old camera...
Image

Had an incredibly comfortable ride on Wolf. If you lean your head forward enough in some areas you get little to no headbanging!
Image
Image

Met up with Ben and a couple of other friends, did Orbit, then headed to Demon. The flames on black train are looking real sharp!
Image

Who let Michael Jackson on Demon? How the hell do shorts get dropped?
Image

Image
Image

Got a lap on Eagle, apparently some people don't understand the concept of standing in the line to the corresponding seat row. Couple of people were standing against the station wall on red side, so thinking they were waiting for front row, we begin to head for 1:3 then they flip because they think we're cutting.
Image

Warning. YOU WILL DIE!!!
Image

I See You
Image

Bucky Battle looks interesting, but I'm not writing home about it.
Image
Image

Apparently nobody can ride Triple Play since the stheek is all red.
Image

The guy seemed to be taking FOREVER to get the ride going. He would shut the gate, start checking restraints, let more people in, then start checking the restraints again. When I worked there I was told not to do this.

I don't know... kinda caught my attention.

Condom the Ride
Image

Departures.. literally...
Image

Oh, by the way. YOU ARE HERE.
Image

Think they'd clean up the bottom of the top while they're up there painting, eh?
Image

SFGAm looking spiffy

Mandatory Fiero Shot
Image

Hell of a sunset!
Image

Decommissioned.
Image

Whizzin' in the Forest
Image

Did another lap on Demon. The lights in the tunnel are actually working again, and it looks like they slightly altered the light cycle.
Image

Cups
Image

Did a lap on Bull which was awesome as usual. No pics unfortunately.

Damn-near hurt my neck because we got the car spinning so fast. This was the first time since T2 that I was in pain on an amusement ride.
Image

Quick run to Superman
Image

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Image

Got three laps on it, AND an ultra-rare bonus ride after the "last cycle". First time I have ever seen them send one more train after the supposed "last ride". The supervisor came up early, so I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Dancing in the Streets

EDN

GREAT day! Probably my favorite visit this season. I need to go more often.

Sorry, I meant the line, and not how long the ride is.

No seriously...the line WAS 2-3 mins long.

The ride has been a walk on pretty much all summer. I think this is a wake up call for Six Flags. The past two rides have failed in terms of the GP. The park needs to add a new major coaster and fast. I think the GP is getting bored of the same old coasters year after year. And while the attendance might not show it, eventually attendance will decrease.

For Sky Trek they should have painted the entire ride. Even in your pic you can see rust on the main column, and when I took close up pics of it when it just said Six, you could see there were rust streaks all up and down the tower and Six was in fact painted right over the rust streaks, I'm guessing Flags was done the same way. I don't know what they were thinking. The park painters could have easily painted the entire 285 foot column in probably 3-4 nights total. The cap on top of the tower is probably best left to professionals though. But the boneheadedness of the whole situation is beyond belief.

Also for BB, I think part of the short line is due to the rides incredibly high capacity. The ride moves people through so fast there isnt a chance for a line to form. If it had Roaring Rapids or the flumes capacity, the line would probably be more significant.
