SFGAm Fright Fest on Halloween (with pictures...lots)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby pennyroyalest on November 2nd, 2005, 11:07 am
So, we decided to take advantage of the extra day, figuring it would be way less crowded. Well, we were right. We got there at 4:30ish, and got awesome parking, as close as you could get to the front gate without taking a handicap spot. We were let into the park at about 4:50, but still had to wait behind the chain at the entrance to Hometown Square. At 4, they dropped the chain, and we headed to the Whizzer first. It was a walk-on, back row.
Next, we walked onto the back row of Viper. It's the shortest I've ever waited for Viper besides opening day on April 30th.
After that, it was only one cycle wait for the back row of Raging Bull. Awesome ride, the rails were wet from the light rain so we sailed, and great airtime. Braking was light.
Terror Twister (Chubasco) was so cool. It was my first time riding it as Terror Twister.
Giant Drop was also a walk-on, as well as the back row of Demon. Loved the theming.
Too bad Deja Vu was closed, because at this point (only 5:50) the park was practically deserted, and it would have been practically a walk-on. *sigh*
All the food and merch was 50 percent off, so I got some of those roasted cinnamon pecans that I love but never usually get because 4 dollars is too much for some nuts. But they were only 2 bucks today, which was cool.
We had a nice ride on the Eagle (Red Train, seeing as it was the only side running.) Insane airtime on this as well.
Took a spin on Revolution, then a one-cycle wait for the back row of Iron Wolf. After that, we had a nice little walk-about, and some cheap cheese fries. They were a bit overseasoned, though.
We entered Necropolis, but it was decidedly less populated by all the scaractors. Thankfully, we had visited Fright Fest also this Friday, and got to see them all out in full force then.
Next, we rode Big Easy Balloons and Superman. Oh, at one point we also rode Vertical Velocity, but I forget which order that was in.
Superman line was crazy short.
We decided to take a look at the 3D Haunted Castle movie. It was kinda hokey, and the 3D glasses were kinda messed up. Like there was double-vision on some images, and when something got close, it blurred. The actor playing Johnny was not very...actor-ly. Plus he sounded like Michael Jackson. After that, it was 9:40, so we decided to leave to beat traffic (not that there was a lot of it, but oh well. It was raining and dark and cold.)

And now, on to the pictures.

Ahh! 3 dollars for a 20oz soda! Scary!

The typical last day of the season :D

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Yeah, pretty much. But the fact that they added on a day, a weekday and on Halloween when most people are doing other things, also helped.

Me too!

We hung out with Bad Santa and his elves, they were funny. If you're friendly with them, they don't insult you. They were rad.

They're really friendly, and they like when you take pictures of them.

Just a game in the Mardi Gras section. He was busy scaring some other girl and I came up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder to take a picture.
