Weather: Overcast temp felt like the 70's
Crowds: Seemed to be a lot of people I had to park deep in the back lot, but I didn't encounter a lot of lines.
On our way walking through the parking lot, I saw a family feeding Terns out of the back of their van. When the birds would come in to eat the crumbs, a little boy would charge them and send them flying back up. They would then circle and dive right back, which was causing them to come very close to people who were walking in the lot. Because of these morons and their undisciplined hellion, we had to deal with the constant shrieking and dive bombs that those flying rats provide. I was hoping the birds would get aggressive and begin to peck the boy or his family, but no such luck. ( Yes, Terns will do this in flocks after they identify the food source you are using. They would rather take you out and get all of the food to themselves, rather than feed off of your crumbs.)
First thing we did inside the park was go to guest relations and get my daughter banded with her height. She measured out at 44" which is a half inch taller than one month ago when we were up on my birthday. The guy who measured her told her to "think yellow" (48") for next summer.
We started out on Triple Play. She rode hands up as usual and let out her little screams at the top of each spin. Then we went to ..
The Whizzer
25 minute wait for second to last chair. Seemed a little rough going into the first turn, but still a lot of fun. My rugrat even tried some portions of track with her arms up for the first time.
7/10 x1
After riding Whizzer, my daughter looks up at me with her little eyes and asks, "Daddy, can we go ride Demon Now?" So off we went.
The Demon - Daylight
30 minutes for front row on Red Train. Coming on to the chain, we heard a loud banging sound behind us. Then a repeat of the same sound coming off of the chain. Down the drop into the loops with little one yelling the whole way. Pretty smooth ride for being that old.
8/10 x1
After that, she talked me into taking her on Orbit. I had never ridden one of these rides before (I always take coasters over flats), so it was a first for both of us. What a fun ride! We ended up riding it 4 times before the day was done.
Went to NASCAR Imax at the pictorium. You would think that putting 800HP machines that do 200+mph on a 7-story screen with 12,000 watts of power would be exciting, but somehow this snore of a film manages to screw it up. I liked how they try to tie in the go-karts with the movie when they do the spiel at the end.

Did a tour of flats next, Orbit(2x) again followed by Ricochet (another first for both of us), then on to Chubasco.
On Chubasco a family of Hispanic decent decided to hop into the cup with myself and my daughter. I warned them that I have been trying for two years to get my daughter dizzy on these kinds of rides, and that they might not want to ride with us. They didn't listen

We hopped a night ride on the Train which had the oddest spiel. "On your right you will see our two flume rides

Any clue on why IMS appears to have been edited out of the recorded spiel?
We went to enjoy more night rides on Fiddler's (no she didn't get dizzy), Spacely's, and Jesters Wild Ride. The ride Op on Jesters was doing his best to get people into the ride and get people nearby to line up for the ride. This included carnival barking "Hey why sit on those benches, when you could be sitting on this ride?" , and bad singing "You spin me right round baby right round....". It has got to be a crap assignment to work this ride, but he had fun with it.
Watched the parade and jubilee, then began our
Flight of the Bumblebee
In the last half hour we rode Demon, back to TP, Orbit- Special ride instructions "There is no shaking or rocking your cars during the ride (both me and my daughter groan) except for that guy (point at our car)", then finished with Demon x2 . 5 rides in 30 minutes..not bad
Demon - Special nightride edition
First time was <10min for first row second car Red. Coming on to the chain, the front of the car lifted up rocked back, then forward, with a little side roll accompanied by the banging sound we heard in the day. Same thing coming off of the chain. I figure its safe, but I still would like to know what the heck is causing it. I have not experienced this on either one of the other two trains. I love the view of the park as your making the turn into the first drop, and the tunnel is much more fun at night. Coming down the corkscrew I noticed that the lights in the eyes of the skull were no longer lit up. This is my favorite part of riding Demon at night, and it was something I was hoping to share with my little one. Have we lost another part of this rides theming to "family concerns"?
9/10 x3 (subtract one for no glowing eyes)
We finished our night on Demon walk-on 2nd row 2nd car red train. Same weird experience on the chain. We managed to get a re-ride in the same row for the last dispatch of the night. Afterwards I asked an employee (she had a notebook of sheets and had come onto the platform after close) about the noise on the lift hill hoping to get some technical explanation.
She didn't, so hopefully someone on this board might help me out?
She only replied "It's Demon, It's old. I hear it’s the next one to be torn down, and I hope it is." Kind of a crappy attitude I thought, and I hope she's wrong. maybe its just cause I'm enjoying it with my daughter, but I'm really beginning to find a new love for this ride especially at night. I hope they don't replace a 42" coaster with loops for yet another 54" coaster. That would be a terrible loss.
