3 day Wisconsin trip

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby rctfan1556 on August 7th, 2005, 10:43 pm
Just got back and it does suck to be back because it was such a great trip.

Friday: This day was getting up to Manitowish Waters to pick up my lil brother from YMCA Camp Jorn.
Pretty cool going up. Got to see a lot of farm land, go figure and some other neat things. When we got to Manitowish Waters we checked in at our motel which was the Pea Patch then we eat lunch at their bar they had there. I had one of their subs and it was WAY better then anything Subway or Quizinos has made.
After that we explored a neighboring town till it was time to eat and go pick up my brother. We ate at a fancy type resteraunt in Manitowish that was called the Fireplace in Supper Club. I had duck and most people would probably tell you it taste like chicken, well I think it taste like a pork roast, but it was VERY GOOD. After that we to get my brother and got to see a big bond fire.

Saturday and Sunday: Half of this was getting to the Dells and the other was hanging out at the resort. Most of Sunday was hanging out at the parks and the other quarter was getting home.
We stayed at the Treasure Island Resort@Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park. I did a lot of things there so I'll just keep do a review on the main things I did.

Mt. Olympus:
Hades: Awsome coaster. The underground tunnel is just amazing, it is not anything you'd expect from a normal tunnel. After the drop into it you hit a bunny hop and then 2 tightly banked turns. As for the overbank, you can't even feel it, the only way you know you went through it is once you are coming back to the light you see the track infront of you was set up for an exit to an overbank. Overall it was a great and VERY rough coaster.
The 1 thing I didn't like about it was how they ran it. For 1 they ran one, 5 car, train that sits 20 people. What should have been a 10min wait, took almost 20 to 30min, which is just stupid in my opinion. The ride could have gotten a block brake system installed which would have easily allowed for 2 train operation.
The other thing was the cars didn't even line up at their designated gates. When I was getting on, I sat down and all of a sudden 2 guys were like, "Hey they took our spots." and was like,"Huh?". Before that I saw the two people in front of us(Me and my brother.) get in that same seat, so the ride attendant comes on over and says I had to get in the seat behind me but luckly the 2 guys were cool about it and said they'd wait, but I would have waited or moved if I had to. So what caused that is the cars line up in the middle of 2 pairs of gates, which is obviously going to cause problems like that.

Zues: WOW. I was really shocked after this coaster. It was just so amazing, and way better then Hades because of the airtime on that, there were points on that where I had to hold my self down because of it. If you want stomach dropping, this is the coaster to go on cause I could feel mine litarally come up and crash right back down.

Triton's Tower Go Kart Track: Awsome ride. It was a nice long track, had some awesome elevated parts, and tight turns. My 2nd time I went on it wasn't as great as the 1st and here is why.
I get on expecting it to be awsome like last time, and I was wrong. Right as I get around the 1st turn, all of a sudden I feel like I'm back in normal traffic because these guys infront of me start to box up preventing me from passing or being able to just floor it like I usually do. They almost made me crash. After the 3rd turn I was going to pass a car and as soon as I try someone just comes out of nowhere so they have swerve out of the way and I hit the brakes but still hit them. So we both got stuck and one of the employees had to come out and get us going again. That really did suck. Got 1 lap on this.

Trojan Horse: Good like the last one and nice elevated parts. The horse was awesome. We got 2 nice laps in one ride on this.

Posiden's Adventure: Mostly elevated but still awesome. What I liked about this was the bridge, that was awesome. You go under it then turn around and go over on it's double dip. Got 2 laps on this.

3rd track(Forgot the name.): Pretty cool and a short track. Got 4 laps on this.

DiskO: Yep, you read it right, the Zamperella DiskO. Pretty cool ride definitly better then its counter part like Jesters Wild Ride.

Sim Ride: Alright. It was an arm moving you around in inverted coaster seats with OSTR's.

Family Land Outdoor Waterpark:
Demon's Drop: THIS IS ONE AMAZING WATER SLIDE. It is a straight drop down and in the end it feels like your back is being torn to shreds but the drop is so AWESOME. I weigh 210 pounds and I still managed to get a good 1 inch off the slide during it. Here comes the funny part.
1st run: I go up expecting it to rock like last time I went on it(2 years ago we came when it was just Family Land and Bay of Dreams with the Treasure Island Hotel.) and it did but when I got to the end I noticed people laughing at me. My shorts did feel weird but when I pulled them down I noticed they had ripped on both sides, they still stayed on and didn't reveal anything but it was still pretty funny. One of the guys said sorry for laughing but I was like,"It's alright. I'm laughing as well.". Got some new shorts after that and continued my day.

Bumper Boats: Fun ride and VERY cold water. I burned my self trying to get comfy on my 2nd time. The exposed metal on the bottom of those engines are HOT.
The rest of the slides their are pretty cool. Lighting is awesome, short, but awesome.

Mini Golf: Played 2 rounds, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Got 3 hole in ones, 2 were in a row.

Bay of Dreams Indoor Waterpark:
This is one nice indoor waterpark. The theming is amazing, the slides are awesome, and everything is just so eyecatching. If you come to this resort, I highly recommend you check out this park, you will not be dissapointed.

Overall it was an awesome trip. I had a lot of fun and I hope to do it again soon. On my way home, from the road, I got to see the Wilderness's Tornado and Great Wolf Lodge's ENCLOSED Tornado. GWL's looks AWESOME and it is HUGE!
FYI, Mt. Olymups still does that pay for each ride thing. They only do it in the theme park. Luckly my family got free all day wrists bands with our room. :D

As a stated at the begining of this, it sucks to be home, I really wanted a little more time. I also hate the idea of having to go back to work Tuesday after such a nice time away from it.

Edit: Family Land's Wavepool is way better then SFHH's. It is 8ft deep! Sure it is freezing but 8ft deep with waves higher then that is awesome. It is a challange staying above water.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

Sounds good. I think the gokarts would be more fun than the rollercoasters. How many tracks did you ride? How fast do they go?

Bumperboats can be dangerous. I worked at a gokart place that had bumper boats and I was always burning myself on the hot engines. Or the boat would stall out in the middle of the pool and we would have to rope them in or try and push em with another boat.

I know so little about the rollercoasters at the dells that I can't tell them apart.

The karts were awesome. They went pretty fast depending on the which car you got. Some were slow and some were fast, it all depends on the car.
I rode 3 tracks, 1 twice.

I went back to Mt. Olympus on Friday. I'll post a few things in here:

Hades isn't rough, where did you get that idea? It's incredibally smooth, it's just that you can't see anything so your not ready for it.

Avalanche is waaay better than Hades, and the ride op is freaking hot and nice because she gave me and my friend two free rides on it. :D

Bay of Dreams was a really cool place to go into. It was getting awefully hot outside with no sunscreen, and there was nobody in there because it was such a nice day outside. The slides were better than the outdoor ones! And the hottub was a great place to "relax" 8)

Demon Drop was really cool, liked it more than the Point of No Return at Noah's Ark, less stairs to climb.

I almost drown in the Wave Pool because it was so cold and deeper than I expected. (8 Ft.)

Zeus seemed to be tracking MUCH better than it was in May. In the front row was almost better than Cyclops in the back row. Back row was worse than Boss, though.

Avalanche is already squeeking all over the place, and the track is rusting before the lift hill but otherwise is a thing of beauty.

That's about it.

Did u ride robocoaster..that was cool.

I personally think the karts at big chie.. er Mt. Olympus suck, They used to be alot better but were regulated. I guess I have to give them credit, afterall they do have alot of go karts.

I personally liked the freshly paved track near the disk-o

during my one day htere I got 20 rides on Hades and 37 go kart rides.

Yeah, that was it! It is an arm with inverted coaster seats. It is alright on level one, but the other levels I'm sure are better but I didn't get around to paying for those(There $2 a person for 2-5.).

For the 3 of you who have been there, How fast do the karts go? Are we talking like 10mph 30mph or more?

I always heard stories of very fast gokarts up there but I was never able to go .

The fact that you liked Zeus more than Hades is quite scary. That thing HURTS.

Then we all can agree that Avalanche is better. :)

Most go-karts at Big Chief (refuse to call it Olympus) are <= 10mph There are some formula one cars that are 15mph with a custom electric scoreboard. You must be 16 with valid DL to ride those.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.

yeah, i preferred Hades over Zeus. I hate that those coasters are so short though, as far as time on the ride. I'm used to the long rides, but with coasters like Zeus and Cyclops, it seemed like they were over in a flash.

I liked the go-karts too, but it seemed like after awhile, they all were kinda alike. I only rode a few of the tracks back over 4th of July weekend, but i had ridden a few back when it was still Big Chiefs. :D

Yeah, nothing special but the courses kinda makes it interesting. There are go karts across the street that are fast, but expensive

They seemed pretty fast to me... I crashed... woops! Stupid trojan horse in the way

I thought that they felt faster then say SFGA karts. Then again I thought that the karts at SFSTL were faster then our karts. Ours just seem really slow to me.
